Building on the success Q1, ADNEC Group continues to excel in 2025, welcoming thousands of visitors, including ministers, key decision-makers, and Heads of State to ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Q2 of 2025 calendar features a diverse lineup of transformative events spanning finance, government, sports, energy, consumer, defence, cultural heritage, technology and innovation, manufacturing, healthcare, education and entertainment.
This broad scope reinforces Abu Dhabi's position as a global hub for collaboration and innovation, driving solutions to pressing challenges and unlocking new opportunities.
January began with the Ataya Exhibition starting the year, along with the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week featuring the Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards Ceremony and World Future Energy Summit (WFES), which gathered nearly 42,000 policymakers and innovators to drive progress in renewable energy and climate action. Taking place annually at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, WFES has evolved into one of the world's leading platforms for collaboration, innovation, and action in sustainability and clean energy, attracting policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators from across the globe.
Additionally, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi successfully hosted a dynamic lineup of events, including the Paper & Tissue Show, The Crucible Fitness Competition, Al Thuraya Exhibition, and The Gulf Bride Show. These exhibitions brought together industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts, highlighting advancements in their respective sectors. From innovative solutions in paper and tissue manufacturing to high-energy fitness challenges, luxury bridal fashion, and cultural showcases, these events underscored ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi's role as a premier destination for diverse and impactful exhibitions.
In February, the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi welcomed the largest edition of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and Naval Defence & Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX). These globally renowned events attracted over 200,000 defence leaders, Heads of State and decision makers to explore cutting-edge technologies and build strategic alliances. With a focus on innovations across land, air, sea and space, IDEX and NAVDEX serve as critical platforms for addressing emerging security challenges with hundreds of thousands of visitors expected.
With the holy month of Ramadan taking place throughout March, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi is hosted a series consumer and public events such as the Capital Majlis and the Ramadan and Eid exhibition. The Eid exhibition showcased companies from the Gulf, Asia, and Arab regions displaying an array of fashion, accessories, perfumes and other gifting items.
April features a packed and diverse schedule of events at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. The 8th edition of the Gulf & Indian Ocean Hotel Investors' Summit (GIOHIS) will take place from 7 to 8 April, focusing on hotel real estate investors, developers, and franchisees. Running concurrently, the Annual Investment Meeting Congress will be held from 7 to 9 April, offering a premier investment platform in the Middle East aimed at driving positive change, fostering solidarity, and strengthening economic ties among nations.
Also, from 7 to 9 April, the World Local Production Forum will be hosted under the theme 'Advancing Local Production for Health Equity, Global Health Security, and Sustainable Development.' Meanwhile, the World Crisis & Emergency Management Summit, taking place from 8 to 9 April, will highlight the UAE's commitment to enhancing global emergency and crisis preparedness.

The plan aims to attract up to AED400 billion in foreign direct investment by 2050 and increase local content in key supply chains to 65 per cent, along with achieving 100 per cent Emiratisation of critical jobs in the sector. It's also strengthens economic growth opportunities by attracting capital and global technologies. This announcement comes in light of the rapid economic growth witnessed by the emirate, with its GDP surpassing the one trillion dirham mark, reinforcing its position as one of the fastest-growing economies globally. The energy and water sector has played a vital role in supporting this exceptional growth. Dr. Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, said the "strategic framework represents a comprehensive roadmap for the future of the energy and water sector in the upon an ambitious vision aimed at transforming the sector into a global model of efficiency, innovation, and sustainability, in line with (the) leadership's aspirations to build a diversified, net-zero economy by 2050.' He added, 'We continue working to cement Abu Dhabi's position as a global hub for innovation in energy, powered by artificial intelligence and advanced digital solutions.' The Department of Energy reaffirmed its commitment to leading the development of policies, strategies, and regulatory systems for the sector, emphasised strengthening cooperation with local and international entities and empowering society to contribute to the journey toward a more prosperous and sustainable future.

Bringing together global leaders, policymakers and innovators under the theme Innovating for a New Age of Utilities, day two of the Congress showcased how policy, technology and investment are converging to reshape utilities systems worldwide. Hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and brought to you by dmg events, the second day of the Congress featured high-level discussions that underscored the urgent need for scalable innovation, strategic investment and global collaboration to accelerate the energy transition. With electricity demand surging and water scarcity becoming more acute, delegates explored how integrated infrastructure, advanced technologies and climate-aligned policy can work in tandem to transform the global utilities landscape. Jasim Husain Thabet, Group CEO and Managing Director of TAQA, said: 'The utilities industry stands at the forefront of solving critical global challenges – from ensuring water security to delivering reliable, low-carbon energy. Whether it's system flexibility, water resilience or clean energy integration, these issues have a direct impact on the communities we serve. In this Year of Community, it is a reminder that our role as a utilities provider goes beyond infrastructure — it is about contributing to sustainable, inclusive growth for all. The World Utilities Congress provides a vital platform for sharing scalable solutions, forging partnerships, and shaping the policies and technologies that will define the future of power and water worldwide.' A Ministerial Panel titled 'Powering Energy Security Through Strategic Cross-Border Water Cooperation' examined regional collaboration as a critical enabler for water resilience and sustainable development. H.E. Alejandro Gallardo Baldiviezo, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy of Bolivia; H.E. Mrs. Maria Panayiotou, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of the Republic of Cyprus; and Hon. Prof. Anil Jayantha, Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Sri Lanka, engaged in a meaningful dialogue to explore ways to enhance cross-border water security. A key session on day two was also the Global Leadership Panel titled 'Realising the ambition: tripling global nuclear energy capacity by 2050.' Senior executives from organisations including the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA), Siemens Energy, the World Nuclear Association, EPRI Gulf, and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) explored the growing role of nuclear in global decarbonisation strategies. The panel addressed how innovation in small modular reactors (SMRs), streamlined regulatory frameworks, and increased investment—estimated at $100 billion annually—can unlock nuclear energy's potential as a cornerstone of a low-carbon future. Speaking on the panel, Karim Amin, Board Member at Siemens Energy, highlighted the importance of striking a balance between advancing nuclear energy and maintaining continuity across the supply chain. He stated: 'There is no net zero without nuclear energy. If we really want to meet net zero, we must focus on carbon capture and nuclear energy.' Across the exhibition, the Innovation Hub continued to showcase transformative technologies aimed at building smarter, more sustainable systems. The Innovation Hub, which includes the Cleantech Theatre and the Climate Tech Theatre, featured cutting-edge innovations that addressed real-world challenges in power and water. From real-time grid analytics and decentralised renewables to smart water networks and modular infrastructure, the Innovation Hub brought together youth entrepreneurs, global tech leaders and utilities pioneers, driving progress on the ground toward net-zero outcomes. The Cleantech Theatre highlighted the growing importance of electrification across sectors and the critical role of ESG-led innovation in decarbonising utilities, transport and energy systems. Meanwhile, the Climate Tech Theatre explored strategies for integrating renewables into energy systems, with a strong focus on emerging technologies, regulatory evolution and the drive toward a cleaner, more resilient energy future. A panel discussion titled 'Renewable-powered desalination for sustainable water supply' featured experts from Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi, EWEC, ENGIE, Etihad Water & Energy, and SUEZ – Near and Middle East, who examined how solar, wind, and other renewable sources are being harnessed to power desalination sustainably. Speaking on the panel, Maitha Ahmed Al Hallami, Project Manager at Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi, said: As global water stress increases, renewable-powered desalination has emerged. Abu Dhabi's economy has entered a new age of transformation and now is the moment for action across the whole water and energy nexus.' She added: 'In Abu Dhabi, we view renewable powered desalination not just as a technological evolution, but a strategic enabler of economic diversification and environmental stewardship.' The Congress concludes tomorrow, Thursday 29 May, with high-level sessions on climate finance, urban decarbonisation and regional energy integration, continuing the journey toward a more sustainable and connected utilities future.
