Infants Dying of Starvation in Gaza Amid Severe Famine, Inte'l Warnings
Medical sources confirmed that Sana'a's case is not isolated but part of a worsening wave of wasting and dehydration among infants and children in Gaza. Reports indicate that hundreds of critical cases are recorded daily in hospitals struggling to provide even minimal care amid catastrophic shortages of supplies.
In a new warning, Gaza's Ministry of Health sounded the alarm, noting a troubling rise in the number of Palestinians arriving at hospitals suffering from severe hunger and extreme exhaustion.
This warning came just days after the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announced that one in every ten children examined in its clinics suffers from malnutrition.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated that the continued Israeli blockade preventing aid from entering Gaza has caused a 'severe shortage of nutritional supplies,' describing the situation as a 'man-made disaster.'
UNRWA's Communications Director, Juliet Tuma, added: 'Medications, nutritional supplies, hygiene materials, and fuel, all of it—are rapidly running out.'
She also quoted a nurse who said, 'Previously, we only saw such malnutrition cases in textbooks and documentaries.'
Breastfeeding mothers are also suffering from severe malnutrition, leading to a significant decline in natural milk production. At the same time, the occupation forces continue to block the entry of baby formula and nutritional supplements despite repeated international warnings.
Dr. Youssef Mansour, a pediatrician at Al-Nasr Hospital, said: 'We are witnessing children dying, not from incurable diseases, but because they are deprived of food. This is slow, deliberate killing that violates all humanitarian laws.'
Under these circumstances, hospitals are experiencing a near-total collapse in operational capacity, with exhausted medical teams struggling helplessly as cases surge and no signs of imminent humanitarian relief.
Amid all this, the grave of infant Sana'a Al-Lahham has become a stark symbol of a grim chapter of suffering in Gaza, where a silent war is waged against children and infants, not only with weapons but with starvation and deprivation.

New Gazan Infant Dies from Starvation as Israeli Siege Triggers Worsening Humanitarian Crisis
DayofPal– A new infant has died in Gaza due to severe malnutrition and lack of baby formula, raising the death toll of those died of starvation to 134. According to medical sources at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, baby Mohammed Ibrahim Addas died early Monday morning after succumbing to acute malnutrition. The child's death is attributed to an ongoing shortage of infant formula and food, a direct result of the continued Israeli military assault and total blockade of Gaza. Last Friday, six-month-old Zainab Abu Halib also died at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis from similar causes, underscoring the growing toll the blockade is taking on the youngest and most vulnerable. On July 26, Gaza's Ministry of Health announced nine starvation-related deaths in just 24 hours, bringing the total number of Palestinians who have died due to hunger to 134, including 85 children, since the beginning of the crisis. Hospitals and emergency rooms across Gaza are now overwhelmed with emaciated patients of all ages arriving in life-threatening condition. Medical officials describe the situation as 'unprecedented,' warning that the starvation crisis is rapidly escalating into a full-blown famine. 'The hunger has reached catastrophic levels,' the Ministry of Health said in a statement, 'endangering the lives of over two million people as Israel continues to prevent the entry of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid.' Recent data from the Ministry reveals that over 260,000 children under the age of five are suffering from severe malnutrition, putting them at immediate risk of death. The deadly food shortage has intensified since Israel sealed off Gaza's border crossings in early March, severely restricting the flow of humanitarian aid, food supplies, fuel, and medical equipment. The Government Media Office in Gaza accused Israel of deliberately using starvation as a weapon of war, and described the blockade as part of a broader campaign of 'genocide and collective punishment' against Gaza's 2.4 million residents. International aid groups and human rights organizations have repeatedly warned of the impending collapse of Gaza's healthcare and food systems if the blockade is not lifted and unrestricted humanitarian access is not restored immediately. Day 661: Israel Slaughters 20 Civilians in Ongoing Gaza Assault
DaysofPal- At least 20 Palestinian civilians were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes on residential homes across the Gaza Strip early Monday, as Israeli genocide on Gaza entered its 661st day amid a systematic campaign of starvation and collective punishment. According to local media reports, Israeli warplanes struck two civilian homes, one belonging to the Nofal family in the Japanese neighborhood and another to the Zaarab family in the Al-Mawasi area, both in western Khan Younis, southern Gaza. The attacks killed 11 people in the bombing of Nofal family home, and 5 others in the bombing of the residential apartment of the Zaarab family in the same area, injuring more than 30, including women and children, with multiple victims still trapped under the rubble. Meanwhile, a Palestinian woman was killed and several others injured in an airstrike that targeted a house in the Al-Bassa neighborhood of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza. The attacks came despite Israel's announcement of a so-called 'humanitarian pause' on Sunday evening. In reality, residents say the bombing never stopped. In contrast, air and artillery strikes continued across densely populated areas, including Shuja'iyya in eastern Gaza City and near Al-Salah Association in central Deir al-Balah. Elsewhere, Israeli forces demolished several homes in eastern Gaza, and artillery units shelled the vicinity of Al-Shuja'iyya Club and the Al-Katiba area in Khan Younis, further deepening the devastation. The war, now in its 22nd consecutive month, has pushed the coastal enclave to the brink of collapse. With a crippled health sector, widespread destruction, and a nearly total blockade on aid, famine and disease have gripped hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians. Aid groups and UN agencies continue to warn of a severe humanitarian catastrophe, as the Israeli occupation repeatedly targets aid distribution points and civilians awaiting food, making access to basic survival resources nearly impossible. 5 More Palestinians Starved to Death over the Past 24 Hours
DaysofPal- The director of al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza stated Sunday that five Palestinians, including two children, have died of hunger in the past 24 hours, in a tragic development that reflects the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged enclave. The statement came after a severe famine overwhelmed civilians in the Gaza Strip, whereas Gaza's hospitals, struggling under dire conditions, documented the deaths due to severe malnutrition amid a critical shortage of food and medical aid. This escalation comes as medical reports indicate that at least 21 children have died over the past three days from hunger and malnutrition in various hospitals across the Strip, including Al-Aqsa Hospital and Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis. The Gaza Ministry of Health estimates that more than 127 people, including 85 children, have died of hunger since the beginning of the war, amid the near-total collapse of the healthcare system. Doctors on the ground confirmed that they are now unable to provide proper medical care due to the deterioration of their health from hunger, with reports of some medical staff collapsing during surgeries due to extreme weakness. Moreover, international organizations, including the World Health Organization and UNICEF, have warned that Gaza is facing a man-made famine, with more than one million people suffering from extreme food insecurity. They also warned that the ongoing Israeli blockade and the closure of humanitarian crossings are preventing aid from entering, pushing the humanitarian crisis to catastrophic levels. Global calls continue for the immediate lifting of the blockade on Gaza and for the urgent entry of humanitarian aid, to halt the looming famine that threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands of residents, mostly children, women, and the elderly.
