Lynn Lake braces for another possible evacuation as wildfire causing air quality warning in northern community

A northern Manitoba community forced to evacuate one month ago is staring down the possibility of another order to leave as nearby wildfires trigger air quality warnings Wednesday. Residents in Lynn Lake are being warned that encroaching wildfires could trigger an evacuation Wednesday or Thursday, according to a community wildfire update posted by the town Facebook page late Tuesday night. People in the area must be ready to leave at short notice and are being urged to have a go-bag ready in the event the evacuation order is put in effect. Residents are also being asked to pre-register in advance to help co-ordination efforts. There is also an air quality warning in effect for Lynn Lake as of Wednesday morning, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. The community, which is about 800 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, was previously ordered to evacuate May 27 due to a fire a few kilometres north that would go on to burn down more than two dozen cottages in Burge Lake Provincial Park. That order followed one for Sherridon, 190 km south of Lynn Lake, a day earlier at the end of last month.
