Oxford United boss Gary Rowett has said that he is "not concerned at all" regarding his side's precarious position near the bottom of the Championship table. With two games remaining the U's are three points above the league's bottom three and know that if they can better Luton or Derby's result on Saturday then they can confirm Championship safety. They have won two of their last five league games and on Monday snatched a point away at Cardiff City thanks to a thunderbolt of a strike by midfielder Cameron Brannagan. "I'm not concerned at all, the squad is full of character," Rowett told BBC Radio Oxford."We have shown that at home we are more than a match for any team, every game is in isolation and we have to go and take care of business next weekend."There are twists and turns and there will be all kinds of movements, we have a home game next and if we win that then it's all over isn't it."Hopefully we'll perform a bit better. We need to focus on the performance and not get caught up in the moment of the season, we need to have a bit more intensity and quality about our play at the weekend."The U's face Sunderland at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday, while Luton - who are three points below them and occupy 22nd - take on sixth-placed Coventry. With Sunderland being comfortably fourth in the division and a play-off spot confirmed two weeks ago, the Black Cats have lost each of their last three games. Derby - who are also three points below Oxford - face Hull City in another huge game at the bottom of the table.

But that was before Rangers technical director Nils Koppen left Ibrox and the club's takeover. And Raith director Ruaridh Kilgour admits Raith are waiting to find out if Rangers will get back in touch. He said: 'It's not kind of one of [technical director] John Potter's priorities right now. 'There's a lot of other things going on, like just basically building a squad through the transfer window. 'But completely out of the blue, Rangers contacted John and asked him to go for a meeting at Murray Park with Nils Koppen, the then technical director. 'They said that they'd pinpointed Raith Rovers as someone they would like to have a partnership with to develop their young players. 'They then came to Stark's Park the week after to have a look around and see what the facilities are like, which again they were really impressed with. 'The way it was left was that we asked them to come up with a proposal of what this could look like. 'They saw this as something where they could potentially send us other players. "As an overall update, no official proposal has been sent, Rangers have gone through a takeover and Nils is no longer there and nothing has happened in the last three or four weeks.' And Kilgour insists Raith will only enter into a partnership if it is right for them and their fans. He added: "The way we will then approach this is decided on three factors. 'Number one will be a football factor where Barry [Robson] and John would make a decision based purely on the playing side of it. 'We as a board would make a financial decision on it about how this can help us with our budget, in terms of what the cost would be to bring in these players – or maybe they would be free, who knows. 'And then finally – and most importantly – there'd be a kind of brand perspective where we would put it to supporters. 'Because this is one of those decisions where we feel supporters should be consulted. And the reason for that is we know that some supporters will not like the potential to be partnered with other clubs." Earlier this month, the U's penned an open letter to concerned locals regarding a proposed 16,000-seater stadium on land known as the Triangle, near Kidlington. Last month, the club reached a deal with stadium owners, Fikora Group, to allow them to stay there for a maximum of two more years, with no more extensions or lease agreements possible following the agreement. But amid opposition from worried locals, a decision is set to be made on the plans by Cherwell District Council in July. And in a bid to sway the powers that be in their favour, United released a 2-minute 15-second video on YouTube. A voiceover of the club then warns how it may not be part of the future of the community, saying: "Imagine Oxford United is no longer. "No more dreams. No more community. No more football." The video cuts away to show fans cheering and chanting in the club's current home of the Kassam Stadium, which holds 12,573 people. CEO Tim Williams then appears in the video and warns: "Our very existence is now at risk. Championship club could be left without a stadium as EFL deadline looms "This stadium will create jobs, boost the economy, improve lives and safeguard the future of this great club." The video ends with a poignant message declaring there are "no second chances" before adding: "No stadium, no club." A black screen appears with white text saying: "Our future is in your hands." In the club's open letter earlier this month, Williams said: "It doesn't get more serious than that for a football club. "We have seen headlines recently about a new Manchester United stadium, which with all due respect is a want and not a need. If Manchester United don't move out, they still have Old Trafford. "If Everton hadn't moved into Bramley Moor-Dock, they've still got Goodison. "If we don't move into a new stadium, we are homeless and we don't exist and it's an absolute travesty in my view. It's that important." United estimate their £130million stadium plans will create around 1,000 new jobs and add £32m a year to the local economy. First unveiled in 2023, the stadium will include a 180-bed hotel, restaurant, conference centre, community plaza and would be the UK's first all-electric stadium. A poll held in May 2023 by Kidlington Parish Council saw most residents who voted go against the plans. United have since made a number of changes to the original proposal. This included adding a new health and wellbeing centre and making 90 per cent of transport to the ground sustainable, which they said now had the support of the police and council highways officers. The club finished 17th in the Championship last season, a year after they were promoted from winning the League One play-off final.
