Dem rep torches Trump's DC police takeover
Published: | Updated: An outspoken Democrat lawmaker had choice words for President Donald Trump's decision to take over Washington, D.C.'s police force. Representative LaMonica McIver, who serves New Jersey 's 10th Congressional District, believes that Trump's rhetoric of 'Liberation Day' is rooted in racism. 'When he says, 'Oh,' you know, 'it's Liberation Day,' and all of these things, those are, you know, ways of him saying, 'Oh, it's white power,' McIver said during an appearance last week on the Defending Democracy Podcast hosted by Democratic Party election lawyer Marc Elias. 'Those are racist remarks,' the Congresswoman told Elias. 'His number one targets are cities that are led by black mayors.' The New Jersey Democrat also complained that Trump's 'number one targets are sanctuary cities that ... support immigration.' McIver is currently facing federal charges for storming an ICE facility in her home state of New Jersey earlier this summer. She has asked for the charges to be dismissed. The congresswoman has pleaded not guilty to three counts of assaulting, resisting, impeding, and interfering with federal officials related to actions in the ICE facility skirmish. 'Sic the military on the very people that they're supposed to be protecting in these cities and then expect a certain response so that it can escalate — I truly believe that that's what the president hopes for,' McIver told Elias. White House spokesman Harrison Fields told The New York Post that McIver, was 'an unserious person' who had a 'catfight in front of an ICE facility.' Trump announced last Monday that Washington's Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) was now under the control of Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice (DOJ). Bondi shared Tuesday via a post made on X that 'there have been a total of 465 arrests, 68 guns seized, and charges for homicide, narcotics, and firearm offenses' since the DOJ started policing the nation's capital. Trump's actions were spurred in part by high-profile attacks that have taken place this summer.

TV star lawyer who appeared to have it all with high-flying attorney husband exposes horrifying marriage secrets
A TV star lawyer who appeared to live a life of success and glamor says her high-profile attorney husband is a booze and drug addict who threatened to kill her. Jennifer Lancaster, 41, whose husband Clint, 45, famously represented the mother of Hunter Biden 's youngest lovechild, laid bare the wreckage of her marriage in a new lawsuit. The two had put on a united front for years leading their own law firm but under the surface she says her husband relied on pills and liquor for over a decade while harboring an unhealthy relationship with firearms. Jennifer, who also worked alongside her husband in the Biden case, claims he also suffers from 'unresolved anger issues, and unstable mental health' as well as his substance issues. According to an affidavit seeking maintenance and emergency custody of their two kids, his behavior had endangered their kids, saying that while under the influence he 'often displays an unhealthy fixation on firearms'. She added that for the last decade she has sought treatment for her husband through 'friends, colleagues and pastors', which she said she has done as recently as June 2025. It is claimed that his behavior escalated earlier this summer when he went on a 'days-long binge' in which she claims he attacked her in front of their children. Jennifer claims that he also threatened her multiple times during this alleged binge, claiming he said he would 'kick my ass' and 'kill me'. Jennifer claimed his behavior had endangered their kids, saying that while under the influence he 'often displays an unhealthy fixation on firearms', the family are seen here She adds that at one point she found her husband passed out and surrounded by several assault rifles. Jennifer also claimed that the two had separated in 2022 after he allegedly left a marijuana gummy on their daughter's desk. The affidavit adds that Clint was kicked off a plane in Chicago while traveling to Wisconsin for rehab after he was 'combative with airline staff'. In June he was then involuntarily admitted into an unknown psychiatric hospital in Wisconsin before being transferred to a rehab facility. It is alleged that Clint then left the facility after discovering his insurance would not cover his stay. Since leaving the facility he has opened new bank accounts, bought a new car, got multiple tattoos and spoke of taking their children to Florida, Jennifer added. She said that his plans to move the children to Florida involved 'individuals who pose safety risks to the children'. A judge has already temporarily granted Jennifer emergency custody of their children. In a seemingly unrelated filing, Clint petitioned for a name change on behalf of a 19-year-old woman. He said that the woman had 'recently determined that she is the biological daughter of [Lancaster]' and that she 'desires to take on the last name of her father'. His adult daughter was born in 2006, while Clint and Jennifer married in 2011 according to court records. A former Marine and cop, Clint had represented Hunter Biden's baby mama Lunden Roberts after Biden refused to acknowledge his youngest daughter's existence. As part of their child support agreement, Roberts agreed to receiving less money each month as long as Biden started working on having a relationship with their child. According to records, the Lancasters live in a 6-bedroom home in Bauxite, Arkansas, worth over $600,000. The couple have appeared on Fox News, CNN and CNBC, according to their work profiles. They had also shared images of themselves alongside President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in April of last year.

Trump's Justice Department is investigating whether DC police officials falsified crime data
The Justice Department has opened an investigation into whether police officials in Washington, D.C., have falsified crime data, according to a person familiar with the probe who wasn't authorized to publicly discuss an open investigation. The investigation comes amid an escalating — and political — showdown between the Trump administration and the city over control of the police department. It wasn't immediately clear what federal laws could have been violated by the possible manipulation of crime data. The mayor's office declined to comment on the matter. The New York Times was first to report on the investigation. Earlier this year, a Metropolitan Police Department commander suspected of manipulating crime data was placed on paid administrative leave, NBC Washington reported. ___ Associated Press writer Matt Brown contributed to this report.
