Best Buy Expects Rapid Sellout of Nintendo's Switch 2 Consoles
Best Buy Co. expects to sell out its allotment of Nintendo Co. 's new Switch 2 game consoles shortly after they become available for purchase at midnight.
Fans were already lined up outside stores Wednesday, hours before the console's release. Some were there to pick up devices they had preordered, others to snag inventory left for the day of the launch.

‘Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles' Looks Amazing
Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the best tactical role-playing games ever made, and it is finally getting remastered. Called The Ivalice Chronicles, it will include an enhanced and classic version of the game. The enhanced iteration will include new voiced dialogue, improved user interface, graphical updates, and a new and easier 'Squire' difficulty setting. The latter is actually a sensible addition for modern players, as the original Final Fantasy Tactics was an exacting game. This should come as no surprise, as it was directed by Yasumi Matsuno, who is a somewhat curious figure in gaming. Having worked on previous tactical role-playing games such as Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics was as meticulous in many ways. While many hadn't played these kinds of tactical role-playing games outside of Japan before, for them, Final Fantasy Tactics was something very new and different. The tactical element, with characters moved around on a virtual board, was a visual and functional departure from the classic Final Fantasy games, and imbued a new kind of strategy. For many, Final Fantasy Tactics is regarded as the definitive tactical role-playing game. Although I would beg to differ, as the Super Robot Wars games, I think, are more involved, and also predate the likes of the first Ogre Battle as well as Final Fantasy Tactics. That aside, this new remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics is most certainly welcomed. Regardless of my personal tactical role-playing game preferences, it is still an excellent game. You should also check out Tactics Ogre: Reborn if you fancy a challenge before this remaster is released. Another Year of Romance, with a Dark Twist, Circana BookScan Reports
CHICAGO, IL, June 06, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The market for romance books has been growing since 2021 and remains hot, according to Circana, LLC. In the U.S., year-to-date print sales for romance books are up 24%, versus the same period last year. The volume for romance books has more than doubled compared to four years ago, with 51 million units sold in the past 12 months. Circana BookScan data reveals that romance stands out among the adult fiction subjects showing the most growth in 2025. In fact, romance is the leading growth category for the total print book market thus far in 2025. Fastest growing romance subjects include romantasy and sports romance, each experiencing triple-digit growth, as well as suspense romance and contemporary romance. Romance readers are particularly desirable for the book industry. According to the latest findings from Circana's Future of™ Books study, 26% of romance book buyers report that they are reading 'much more' compared to a year ago – a behavior that is contributing to the growth for romance book sales. While Rebecca Yarros' latest release Onyx Storm – the fastest selling adult title in its opening week, in the 20-year history of BookScan – is a key factor in the romance sales growth, a lot of activity is happening beyond one major author. Even when excluding Yarros from the romance market, the category is still showing double-digit growth. H.D. Carlton, Rina Kent, and Elsie Silver are among the top growing romance authors this year. One key similarity among them is that their stories explore dark romance, including paranormal and anti-hero themes. A desire for dark subjects is surfacing within the romance book market. This trend aligns with other growing segments in adult fiction including psychological thrillers (+29%), dark fantasy (+23%), and horror (+13%). 'This year, I am watching a shift away from rosier romance subjects like romantic comedy and new adult romance in favor of authors and titles with darker themes,' said Brenna Connor, U.S. books industry analyst at Circana. 'Combined with the growth in other more intense fiction subjects like horror and dystopian, a new trend has emerged that's marked by darker escapist themes. These subject matters provide an outlet for readers to safely explore negative emotions such as sadness, anger, or anxiety – allowing them to feel connected and perhaps even comforted. I expect to see continued interest in these darker subjects in the year ahead.' How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to your TV or monitor
The Nintendo Switch 2 might be designed for portable gaming, but its real magic happens when you connect it to your TV or monitor for the full big-screen experience. Maybe you're settling in for a marathon Mario Kart World gaming session, or simply want to show off your skills. Docking your Switch 2 transforms it from a handheld device into a proper home console. The setup process is refreshingly simple, requiring just a few cable connections and the included dock. Nintendo has streamlined the entire experience to get you gaming on the big screen as quickly as possible. Follow these simple steps and you'll have your Switch 2 connected and displaying games on the big screen in just a few minutes. 1.
