PETALING JAYA : A 15-year-old schoolboy escaped an attempted abduction while jogging alone in Seksyen 13, Shah Alam, yesterday evening.
Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the teenager lodged a police report at 10.42pm last night, several hours after the incident.
'The boy was approached by two unidentified men in an old grey vehicle, believed to be a Proton Saga or Iswara, at about 5.15pm.
'One of the suspects exited the vehicle and pointed a knife at the victim, ordering him to get in,' Iqbal said in a statement.
Iqbal said the teenager resisted and got into a scuffle with the suspect before managing to flee to a nearby condominium guardhouse to seek help.
'The complainant sustained injuries, including a cut on his right cheek and wounds on both arms. He was taken to the hospital for further treatment,' he said.
Police are investigating the case under Section 363 for kidnapping, and Section 511 of the Penal Code for attempting to commit a crime.
The case is also being investigated under Section 324 of the same code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon.

SPM Student Suspected Of Killing Teacher Mother Over Exam Pressure In Melaka Family Tragedy

Subscribe to our FREE What started as a suspected break-in at a quiet suburban home in Melaka this morning (12 June) has morphed into something far more sinister—and tragically familiar. The 'robbery' that left primary school teacher Wen Qiu Yan (transliteration), 51, (transliteration) and her eldest son Lin Wen Kai (transliteration), 21, dead in their blood-soaked living room wasn't the work of outside intruders. It was her own 17-year-old son, armed with a knife he'd been carrying in his school backpack. The kid was three months away from his SPM exams—and his mother's constant criticism had apparently pushed him past his breaking point. Police investigations suggest the teenager was waiting for the perfect moment to strike while his teacher-mother slept. Brother Walks Into Deadly Scene, Becomes Second Victim Around 5 AM, as the 17-year-old was allegedly stabbing his mother to death, his 21-year-old brother walked in on the carnage. The older brother—the same one who'd discovered the 'robbery scene' hours earlier, according to initial reports—became the second victim, stabbed multiple times in the neck, waist, and back. The family's youngest, a 13-year-old, tried to resist when his brother ordered him to leave. He ended up stabbed and bleeding on the street outside their home in Taman Rambai Mutiara, though he survived and remains in intensive care at Melaka Hospital. This wasn't some heat-of-the-moment explosion as police found CCTV footage and evidence suggesting premeditation. The suspect, who tried to destroy evidence after the killings, according to investigators, is now facing murder charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Police confirmed the suspect was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the attack. The Weight of Expectations in a Grieving Household The tragedy highlights the devastating consequences that can emerge when academic pressure reaches breaking point, especially in families already struggling with loss. Wen spent her career teaching other people's children, only to have her own son allegedly turn that academic stress into a weapon against her. Six months ago, the family had already been devastated when the father—a chef—died from illness, leaving Wen to raise three boys alone. Now two more are dead, one is fighting for his life in the hospital, and the surviving son faces a potential death sentence. The house in Bukit Rambai, where forensic teams spent hours collecting evidence, has become a monument to how quickly family pressure can turn lethal. Warden at Al-Quran learning centre sentenced to six years' jail for sodomising two boys

SEREMBAN: A warden from an Al-Quran study centre has been sentenced to six years in prison and two strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court here after pleading guilty to charges of committing physical sexual assault, sodomy, and unnatural carnal sex against two boys between 2023 and January 2024. Judge Datin Surita Budin handed down the sentence against Mohd Khairi Fitri Baharom, 38, on Thursday (June 12) after the three charges were read separately and ordered him to serve the prison sentence starting from the date of his arrest on May 25. Surita also ordered the accused to undergo rehabilitation counselling and police supervision for one year after completing his prison sentence. According to the charges, Mohd Khairi Fitri was accused of committing physical sexual assault against a 12-year-old boy between December 15 and 20, 2023, in a warden's room at the study centre in Jempol. He was accused of sodomising the same victim again around 10.30pm on January 7, 2025, and committing unnatural carnal sex against a 10-year-old between April and December 2024 at the same location. The offences were charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same act, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and caning if convicted. He was also charged under Section 377C of the Penal Code for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent, which carries a prison sentence of not less than five years and a maximum of 20 years and caning if convicted. The accused, who was not represented by a lawyer during the appeal process, requested that the court impose the lightest possible sentence on the grounds that he still had his mother to care for. Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni requested a proportionate sentence be imposed, given that the offences involved children and the accused was an individual responsible for their care and safety. "The accused abused his power and committed sexual harassment against them (the victims). Therefore, a proportionate sentence is requested as a lesson for offences against vulnerable children who can be exploited by anyone," she said. Mohd Khairi Fitri pleaded not guilty to 12 other similar charges against the same victim and five other children from around 2024 to January 24, 2025, at the same location and a house in Jalan Air Melana in Kuala Pilah. The court set July 14 for the next mention of the case and appointment of a lawyer. – Bernama

Gerik bus crash: Teacher investigated over offensive comments made on victims

IPOH: An investigation is underway against a teacher accused of posting offensive remarks about the tragic accident that claimed the lives of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris students on the East-West Highway in Gerik. Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said a police report was filed on Wednesday (June 11) at about 4.40pm concerning a Facebook post by a user named "Khalid Yunus," which contained distasteful comments regarding the university students involved in the fatal crash. The case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, he stated on Thursday (June 12). He also urged the public not to share content that could cause distress or disrupt public peace. The Facebook post sparked public outrage after alleging that the 15 students died in disgrace. It further claimed that the victims were not among the faithful, as they had passed away while still owing debt to the National Higher Education Fund Corporation. The post has since been deleted, and the teacher involved has issued a public apology, claiming to suffer from schizophrenia. Perak education, higher education, youth and sports committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah said on Wednesday (June 11) that initial investigations confirmed the Facebook account responsible for the insensitive post belonged to a teacher at the school. The state Education Department has instructed the school where the teacher is believed to teach to prepare a full report on the matter.
