Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders designates Batesville as the next Capital for a Day
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – For one day in June the Arkansas state capital will reside in Batesville.
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a Capital for a Day proclamation for the event to take place on June 5. On that day, senior Arkansas government officials will be in town to meet with local counterparts.
Batesville teacher wins $25,000 Milken Educator Award in surprise school ceremony
This is the 14th Capital for a Day since Sanders took office.
The proclamation highlights the qualities of Batesville, including its location on the White River and its 19th-century history as a hub for transportation and agriculture. It also outlines its two colleges, Lyon College and Arkansas Community College, as well as its museums, including one dedicated to hometown boy and NASCAR driving legend Mark Martin.

'All the numbers we get up here are all massaged because somebody has an agenda.' Sen. Roger Marshall from Kansas, who joined 85 other senators to confirm McEntarfer last year, praised the president for seeking to fire her. 'I have been raising concerns for the past year about inaccurate job numbers put out by Dr. Erika McEntarfer. Her cooked-up numbers have misled the American people for too long,' he wrote on X. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Forms filed with the Federal Election Commission on Friday show Chris Jones has filed to run for the U.S. House for Arkansas District 2. Jones' most recent political appearance was running against Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders for that seat in 2022. Jones filed as a Democrat. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Thursday that she is making a trade mission trip to Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Sanders said she is leaving on Sunday, Aug. 3, and returning Saturday, Aug. 9. Officials said the trade mission will include cultural visits, with a trip to the Western Wall and Judea and Samaria, as well as meetings with senior Israeli government officials. The Governor plans to host roundtables with Israeli companies focused on agritech and defense, and meet with several companies that already have investments in Arkansas. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announces trade mission to France & Switzerland During her visit to the UAE, the Governor will meet with companies and place a special focus on developing the state's largest export industries: aerospace and defense.
