Springboks number eight Jasper Wiese banned for four matches
Wiese, who is the Springboks' first choice option at the back of the scrum, a position where they have several injury concerns, will sit out Saturday's fixture against Georgia in Nelspruit, and the first three matches of the Rugby Championship.
South Africa start the defence of their southern hemisphere title with two home games against Australia, before a visit to Auckland, where they have not beaten New Zealand since 1937.
Wiese will be available for the second test against New Zealand in Wellington on September 13.
The burly back row received a permanent red card from referee Andrew Brace after a headbutt on Danilo Fischetti as the two squared up during a stoppage in play after 21 minutes of Saturday's test in Gqeberha.

'We are absolutely delighted that England and Wales has been chosen to host the next three ICC World Test Championship finals," the ECB chief executive Richard Gould said. "It's a testament to the passion that fans in this country have for this treasured format of the game and the willingness of supporters from around the world to travel here for these games." The 2025 final at Lord's, where South Africa beat defending champions Australia, was attended by 109,227 people over four days and received 225 million digital views, the ICC said in a statement last month. Beale captains First Nations & Pasifika XV against Lions
BRISBANE :Kurtley Beale will get his chance to face the British & Irish Lions on a second tour after being named captain of the First Nations & Pasifika XV team for Tuesday's clash in Melbourne. The 95-cap flyhalf, who famously slipped while taking a potentially match-winning penalty in the first test against the Lions in 2013, was robbed of the chance of facing the tourists for Western Force last month by a hamstring injury. The 36-year-old, one of only 15 indigenous Australians to have represented the Wallabies, has recovered sufficiently to lead a strong backline at Dockland's Stadium. "Kurtley is the most experienced player in the squad and was the natural selection for captain," coach Toutai Kefu said in a news release. "He is an extremely talented footballer and has been there and done it on the big stage." Beale is one of six indigenous players in the line-up with the rest of the matchday squad made up of players with Pacific islands heritage. Tongan-born prop Taniela Tupou and Fijian-born winger Filipo Daugunu were released from the Wallabies squad for the match and will have a chance to show coach Joe Schmidt that they should be in the reckoning for the second and third tests. Tuaina Taii Tualima, Charlie Gamble and Seru Uru make up a formidable back row, while former Wallabies Lukhan Salakaia-Loto and Darcy Swain will feel they have a point to prove to Schmidt when they link up in the second row. Former Australia loose forward Pete Samu was prevented from playing by Lions management because he did not fulfil the stipulation in the tour agreement that all players should have featured in Super Rugby this season. Kefu, who helped the Wallabies beat the Lions 2-1 in the 2001 test series, nonetheless felt he had selected a side that could hand the tourists their first defeat in Australia on this tour. Farrell calls up fourth Scottish reinforcement to Lions squad
BRISBANE :British & Irish Lions coach Andy Farrell called another Scottish reinforcement into his squad in the shape of lock Gregor Brown on Sunday after Joe McCarthy had to be replaced during the first test victory over Australia. Irish lock McCarthy was taken off with a foot problem early in the second half at Lang Park on Saturday after continuing his fine form with a barnstorming performance as the Lions dominated the Wallabies before the break. "Plantar fascia," Farrell told reporters after the Lions beat the Wallabies 27-19 to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. "It was niggling away at him and hopefully we got him off in time." Brown is the fourth player called up from the Scotland squad which has just completed its tour of the Pacific, joining winger Darcy Graham and props Rory Sutherland and Ewan Ashman. Sutherland, Ashman and Brown played in the win over Samoa in Auckland on Friday and will join the Lions squad on Sunday ahead of the Lions' final midweek match against a First Nations-Pasifika XV in Melbourne on Tuesday. Farrell said after Saturday's victory that two of his other injury concerns, Scottish fullback Blair Kinghorn (knee) and Irish centre Garry Ringrose (concussion) could be ready to play at Docklands Stadium on Tuesday. "Blair's doing well doing pretty well, so we'll see. And Garry's going well. So hopefully they carry on on that trajectory and could be available for Tuesday," he said. Previous Lions squads have been riven by divisions and discontent when it became clear who was in the test team and who would be limited to the "dirt trackers" side to play the midweek games. Farrell said that Tuesday's match, and not next weekend's second test, was now the sole focus for the whole touring party. "We care about the squad and nothing but the squad and that's how it's been the whole time," he said. "We've never separated once. We've all been in everything together. So we'll enjoy this victory tonight together and we travel to Melbourne tomorrow. "Then everyone will roll into making sure that the team (for Tuesday) has as good a preparation as we've had all tour, because it matters to us." Farrell also insisted that Saturday's victory did not mean that players who missed out on the matchday 23 for the first test would not be in contention to face the Wallabies at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday.
