College Football's Hot New Money Grab: $692 Tickets to Watch the Media
Oklahoma, bless it, has begun selling tickets to its football postgame press conferences. I have nothing against the University of Oklahoma, or its football team, and I know athletic departments need to be creative to raise revenue now that they can no longer pay the coach a zillion dollars while stiffing their athletes, but I just want to weigh in on this as a concept, in case any other schools are thinking of copying it: No.

Oklahoma Sooners quarterback named to Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list
Oklahoma Sooners quarterback John Mateer isn't new to preseason award watch lists. He's already stockpiled nods for the Maxwell, Walter Camp, and Davey O'Brien awards this summer. On Tuesday, his name was added to a fourth watch list, breaking a tie with running back Jaydn Ott for the most recognitions on the team. Mateer and Ott are currently the only players on OU's roster with more than two watch list appearances. Mateer was named to the preseason watch list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award on Tuesday. The award is given to the nation's top quarterback who best exemplifies character, scholastic and athletic achievement. Mateer arrives, along with offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, from Washington State, where the pair found success together last season. By all accounts, Mateer has been the leader this team needed on the field and in the locker room, and the new offense has the players excited for what this team can do when the Sooners have the ball this fall. Oklahoma is hoping to make some noise in their second season in the SEC. After making big changes all over the program this offseason, including Arbuckle and Mateer, the Sooners need a big season in their fourth year with head coach Brent Venables at the helm. Otherwise, even bigger changes could be coming to Norman next offseason. Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold named to Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list
Jackson Arnold has been added to another preseason watch list. The 2025 Auburn Tigers have the talent to be a good team this season. This is especially the case when it comes to the offensive side of the football. Hugh Freeze and staff have assembled one of the best groups of receivers in college football. Additionally, the offensive line should be much better than it has been all season. With that said, the success of this offense will largely depend on quarterback Jackson Arnold. He does not have to be great, but just good, for this team to be successful. The talent is there for Arnold to succeed. That is why he has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list. This is an award given to the best offensive player in college football. It is also tied to being from the state of Texas. Arnold was one of the best high school football prospects to come out of the state. As part of the 2023 recruiting class, Arnold was rated as the No. 2 player in Texas by 247Sports before committing to Oklahoma. Nationally, he was rated as the No. 4 quarterback and No. 8 player. There was a lot of excitement for Arnold when the 2024 season started for the Sooners. He showed his potential in Oklahoma's Alamo Bowl loss to Arizona. In the 38-24 defeat, he threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns. Last season did not go well for Arnold, but that cannot all be placed on his shoulders. Due to the injuries at wide receiver and the lack of a good offensive line, he struggled. A fresh start at Auburn could result in Arnold showing the potential he had as a Texas high school football player.
