Kamehameha Schools Kapalama receives 3 threats
The Honolulu Police Department opened three felony investigations after a series of anonymous threats of violence at the Kameha meha Schools Kapalama campus prompted school officials to notify parents, faculty and staff.
Kamehameha Schools officials did not immediately reply to a Honolulu Star-Advertiser request for comment.
HPD detectives opened three first-degree terroristic threatening cases in connection with the threats.
No arrests were made as of Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Hawaii Revised Statutes, a person commits the offense of terroristic threatening if they threaten 'by word or conduct, to cause bodily injury to another person or serious damage or harm to property, including the pets or livestock, of another …'
Neither police nor Ka meha meha Schools detailed exactly what the threats were or who they were made against.

The two graffiti threats and one unspecified threat were reported to the Kamehameha Schools community on Thursday in the first of three separate emails.
The first message, obtained by the Star-Advertiser and sent at 5 :51 p.m. Feb. 20, was sent to 'notify our KSK campus community of a situation that arose involving an anonymous, unverified graffiti threat of a violent act at the high school campus today.'
'Working with our Campus and Enterprise Security staff, an investigation was initiated and reported to the Honolulu Police Department, ' read the message to the Kamehameha Schools community of students, faculty and staff. 'With review of the current information at hand by Campus and Enterprise security staff, we have no reason to believe this threat is credible.'
On Monday night at 8 p.m. the school emailed another notice to its community.
The message cautioned of a 'situation that arose involving an anonymous, unverified threat of a violent act at the high school campus today.'
On Tuesday night at 9 :15 p.m. the school sent out a third message about threats of violence on campus.
School officials relayed that 'an anonymous, unverified graffiti threat of a violent act at the high school campus ' was found.
All three of the threats were deemed not credible and no classes or events were canceled.
'We appreciate our school community for bringing this to our attention and for being partners in our effort to prioritize the safety and well-being of our campus 'ohana. We take all threats seriously, if you have any information regarding these incidents, please notify the school's administration, ' read Tuesday's note.
School officials encouraged parents to talk to their children about reporting 'any information that may assist in our investigation and explain the serious consequences and impact ' to the school community when threats are made.
'We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates if more information becomes available, ' school officials wrote.
'Kamehameha Schools is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of our haumana, faculty and staff, and we remain dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing campus, ' read a statement to the Star-Advertiser from Kamehameha Schools' officials. 'We take all threats seriously and continue to investigate these incidents thoroughly.'

Early morning vehicle collisions hospitalize two
HONOLULU (KHON2) — Two separate early morning vehicle collisions have left two men in critical condition: one in ʻAiea and another in Moʻiliʻili. The first incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. on June 8 on Kamehameha Highway in ʻAiea. According to the Honolulu Police Department, a 54-year-old male moped driver was traveling eastbound on the highway. Popular local restaurant Side Street Inn heading West Police say the man lost control, struck the left curb on the center median, hit a chain-link fence and was ejected onto the roadway. The moped operator was taken to the hospital in critical condition by Emergency Medical Services. He was not wearing a helmet and alcohol seems to have contributed to the incident, police said. Hours later, around 3 a.m., a vehicle struck a pedestrian on S. King Street in Moʻiliʻili. According to HPD, a male pedestrian was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk with the right of way when he was struck by a vehicle. After striking the pedestrian, the motorist lost control and struck a parked, empty vehicle, according to police. Officials also say that vehicle was pushed into another parked, empty vehicle, and the driver fled the driver's car was found shortly after the collision abandoned at the intersection of Waialae Avenue and Palolo Avenue. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital in critical condition. HPD officials believe that speed is a contributing factor to the incident. The identities of the driver and the pedestrian are unknown. Honolulu police investigate alleged child abuse after viral video
Honolulu police said they have opened an investigation into a case of alleged child abuse after a video went viral on social media. On Thursday evening, a witness scrolling through Instagram saw a post of a woman allegedly assaulting a girl. The witness was able to identify the woman and child and called 911. The Honolulu Police Department said today that officers have identified a 34-year-old woman as the child's mother, and taken her two children – an 11-year-old, autistic girl and a 3-year-old boy—into police custody and transferred them to Child Welfare Services. The viral post, shared on @hhnewz, asked, 'What would you do in this situation if you saw this ??' as a woman seated in a car at Kapolei Commons appears to yank the child by her hair so that she falls onto her knees on the pavement in a parking lot, in front of an open car door. HPD's strategic enforcement detail located the mother, along with the child and her brother, at about 10 a.m. today in the Kapolei area. Police said the Honolulu Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, Domestic Violence Section, have been notified, and are working to pursue charges against the mother. No arrests have been made, pending the ongoing investigation. Man facing murder trial in death of daughter makes a plea offer
The man whose murder trial in the 2021 death of his 18-month-old daughter, Kytana Ancog, had been set for June 16 has made a plea offer to the state. Travis Rodrigues' plea offer was mentioned during an Oahu Circuit Court hearing Wednesday to discuss trial setting. The state said it is still working on the offer, the court minutes say. An offer had been submitted as early as January, and possibly earlier. Court minutes from a Jan. 3 hearing show the state acknowledged it had received an offer and is considering it, but informed the court it needs more time to see if the offer is viable. Rodrigues pleaded not guilty on March 18, 2021, to second-degree murder in Ancog's death. But Rodrigues reportedly confessed to hitting and shaking the child and squeezing her against his chest until she became unresponsive. Rodrigues then said he placed her lifeless body in a duffel bag and left it in a vehicle driven by Scott Michael Carter, who said he would 'take care of it.' Ancog was last seen by her mother Jan. 31, 2021, when she dropped off the child with Rodrigues at an Aiea house. A witness told police Rodrigues appeared high on methamphetamine when he slapped and kicked the toddler and tried to give her a meth pipe. Rodrigues was arrested Feb. 13, 2021. Rodrigues has remained in custody at the Halawa Correctional Facility, unable to post $2 million bail. The parties agreed to have the trial rescheduled to the week of Sept. 22, and Judge Rowena Somerville granted the stipulation. Rodrigues' attorney Walter Rodby did not respond to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser's request for comment on the details of the plea offer. Carter, who may be the only one who knows the whereabouts of Ancog's body, had been charged with hindering prosecution. But the judge dismissed his case because the state failed to try Carter within the required time frame since he was charged Feb. 19, 2021. The state said at the time that it had difficulty in obtaining material evidence due in part to the death of the owner of the Aiea house and because Rodrigues was uncooperative. Somerville dismissed Carter's case without prejudice, meaning the state could refile charges at a later date, and he was immediately released from custody Aug. 24, 2022. However, Carter was arrested Nov. 12 in an unrelated auto theft case. He is scheduled to change his plea June 18 for allegedly driving a stolen 2013 Chrysler 300. He was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug for methamphetamine possession and driving without a license. It is unclear whether the state could negotiate a plea deal with Rodrigues that would ensure his testimony to recharge and try Carter with hindering prosecution in the Ancog case.
