India slams Pakistan at UNSC, calls for ‘serious cost' on states promoting cross-border terrorism
India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, P. Harish, described Pakistan as 'steeped in fanaticism and terrorism' and a 'serial borrower' from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The UNSC high-level open debate on 'Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and Peaceful Settlement of Disputes' was presided over by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, on Tuesday.
Dar used the forum to raise the issues of Jammu and Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty, which India has put under suspension following the Pahalgam terror attack.
In a strong response, Harish said, 'It ill behoves a member of the Council to offer homilies while indulging in practices that are unacceptable to the international community.'
Citing the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 tourists, he held the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba and its front, The Resistance Front, responsible for the act.
'States that violate the spirit of good neighbourliness and international relations by fomenting cross-border terrorism must face serious consequences,' Harish said.

Data, traffic accumulated by Elon Musk's Starlink will be stored in India: Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani
NEW DELHI: Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani said on Thursday that the network data, traffic, and other details accumulated by Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet service will be locally stored in India. He added that the domestic user traffic is not to be mirrored to any system or server located abroad. Pemmasani, in a written reply, informed the Rajya Sabha, 'Security conditions, inter-alia, include the establishment of earth station gateway(s) in India for providing satellite-based communication services with no user traffic originating from or destined for India to be routed through any gateway located outside India, no copying and decryption of the Indian data outside the country, and the Indian user traffic is not to be mirrored to any system/server located abroad.' US-based Starlink is the third satcom operator after Bharti-backed Eutelsat OneWeb and Reliance Jio-SES JV to secure all clearances for offering commercial broadband from space services in India, a market expected to grow exponentially in the coming years. Starlink received its Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite (GMPCS) permit last month. The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) authorised Starlink's Gen 1 constellation to provide satellite communication services in India. Gen 1 is Starlink's low Earth orbit (LEO) network of 4408 satellites which can offer 600 Gbps throughput in India. India's top telecom incumbents, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, earlier this year partnered with Musk's aerospace company SpaceX to deliver Starlink services in the country. The minister, meanwhile, said that the satcom sector is expected to generate employment as it is an emerging area. 'Satellite-based communication services is an upcoming area and, as any new economic activity would do, it is also expected to generate employment in the country, as it involves, inter alia, the installation, operation and maintenance of the telecom network including user terminal equipment,' Pemmasani said in his reply. Starlink now needs to acquire spectrum from the government and establish ground infrastructure for its services. Two other global satcom majors -Jeff Bezos-owned Amazon Kuiper and Apple's satcom partner Globalstar - are also awaiting approvals from Indian authorities.

Pakistani Diplomat-in-chief on Mission US for 2nd time in under two months
The Pakistan-US bonhomie will get further momentum when Field Marshal Asim Munir visits the US to attend the CENTCOM change in command this month. This will be Munir's second trip to Washington in less than two months. He will attend the farewell ceremony of US Central Command (CENTCOM) commander General Michael E Kurilla . ET has learnt Kurilla shares strong chemistry with Munir and the Pakistan military . Kurilla was recently given one of Pakistan's highest civilian awards and had termed Pakistan a "phenomenal partner" in counterterrorism. "Pakistan has been a phenomenal partner in the counterterrorism world... Thats why we need to have a relationship with Pakistan and with India," Kurilla said during a hearing before the house armed services committee. Pakistan has worked closely with CENTCOM for decades. On its part, CENTCOM has cultivated ties with Islamabad viewing it as an important player in South Asia much to India's discomfort, according to experts on Pakistan-US affairs. During his last visit in June, Munir met Trump over lunch at the White House, which was the first time that a sitting US president met any Pakistani army chief. This was organised weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack and India's Operation Sindoor. Pakistan has also nominated Trump for the Nobel peace prize for "brokering" peace with India. India had twice raised with the US its discomfort about the luncheon meeting between Trump and Munir. Pakistan is back in Washington's decision-making circles after years of isolation amid intense lobbying by Islamabad and Washington's eagerness to reciprocate, including through a trade deal. Critics claim Pakistan has wooed the US through crypto business whose benefits are allegedly being received by Trump's inner circle.
