Araghchi: Iran will not give up its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes

Saba Yemen16-05-2025

Tehran - Saba:
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reiterated his country's commitment to its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes and welcomed dialogue based on mutual respect.
According to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), the Foreign Minister said in a post on the social media platform X on Friday that Iran has not received any written proposals from the United States, either directly or indirectly, regarding a potential nuclear agreement.
This came just hours after US President Donald Trump announced that Iran had received such a proposal.
Araghchi added: "At the same time, the messages we and the world are receiving remain confusing and contradictory, while Iran's position remains firm and clear."
He continued: "Respect our rights and lift the sanctions; in that case, there will be an agreement." Araghchi also wrote: "Let me be clear: there is no scenario in which Iran would give up its hard-won right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, a right also enjoyed by all other member states of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty."
Araghchi concluded his post by emphasizing that the great Iranian people have proven their strength and resilience in the face of those who have attempted to impose their hegemony over them. He explained that Iran always welcomes dialogue based on mutual respect and always rejects any form of bullying and threats.
It is noteworthy that Trump told reporters on Friday, while on his flight from the UAE capital to Washington, that his country had presented a formal proposal to Iran as part of the indirect talks being mediated by the Sultanate of Oman.

IAEA: Negotiations between Iran, US very serious

London - Saba: Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi has expressed optimism about the indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States in an interview with a British newspaper on Friday. In an interview with the Financial Times, Grossi described these talks as "very serious." The IAEA Director General said: "I have seen situations where countries had to be persuaded to want to negotiate. This is not the case here. The talks are very serious." The newspaper quoted Grossi in part of its report on the interview, stating that Iran's nuclear capabilities cannot be eliminated with a limited attack. The newspaper then quoted Grossi as saying: "The most sensitive things are half a mile underground—I've been there several times. To get to them, you have to go down a winding tunnel, down, down, down." So far, five rounds of indirect negotiations have taken place between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman. The main disagreement in these talks revolves around uranium enrichment and the lifting of sanctions. The United States is demanding a complete halt to enrichment and even the dismantling of Iran's non-military nuclear program, while Iran considers enrichment for peaceful purposes a right under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and stipulates the full lifting of sanctions as a precondition for an agreement, according to Tasnim News Agency. Iran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful and is demanding guarantees that the United States will abide by the agreement. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)

Iran: Raids on Beirut's suburbs blatant aggression against Lebanon's territorial integrity, sovereignty

Tehran – Saba: The Islamic Republic of Iran described the Israeli enemy's airstrikes on Lebanon as a "blatant aggression against Lebanon's territorial integrity and sovereignty." Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei condemned the Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut on the eve of Eid al-Adha on Friday, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA. Baghaei pointed out that the Israeli entity's repeated attacks on Lebanon come amid the silence and inaction of the Security Council, emphasizing the direct responsibility of the United States and France as guarantors of the ceasefire between Lebanon and the Israeli entity. He emphasized that the Israeli entity cannot continue its blatant violations of the law and blatant breaches of the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law without a green light and American support. He stressed the need for the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in addressing the violations of the ceasefire agreement and the aggressive actions of the Zionist entity, calling on the Council to take practical measures in accordance with the duties assigned to it under the UN Charter. Baghaei considered that the continued rebellion of the Zionist entity in the region and its aggression against Lebanon and other Islamic countries further demonstrates that the only way to preserve the independence and national sovereignty of states is to strengthen their defensive capabilities and honorable resistance against the Israeli enemy. Gharibabadi: Compromising Iran's Nuclear Rights in Negotiations Is Unacceptable

Tehran - (Saba): Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs and member of the Iranian negotiating delegation, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated on Thursday that compromising Iran's nuclear rights in negotiations is unacceptable. Mehr News Agency quoted Gharibabadi as saying, "Independence is the most important principle at the forefront of the foreign policy apparatus, and this principle is based on the principle of denying the path and non-domination by foreigners." He added, "We do not formulate our policies based on the interests of powers, but rather based on the interests and security of our country and people." The Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs noted that "in the negotiations, one issue that has always been important for the Iranian side is the full realization of the Iranian people's nuclear rights." He continued, "We have spent resources on progress in the nuclear field, and we have also paid human costs, such as the nuclear martyrs, along the way." Gharibabadi added, "The nuclear industry and enrichment are modern technologies and a real need for Iranian society. There are a number of Few countries in the world enrich uranium and have a complete nuclear fuel cycle, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of them. These rights are our concern in any negotiations, and these rights must not be violated." Whatsapp Telegram Email Print
