Araghchi: Iran will not give up its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes
Tehran - Saba: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reiterated his country's commitment to its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes and welcomed dialogue based on mutual respect. According to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), the Foreign Minister said in a post on the social media platform X on Friday that Iran has not received any written proposals from the United States, either directly or indirectly, regarding a potential nuclear agreement. This came just hours after US President Donald Trump announced that Iran had received such a proposal. Araghchi added: "At the same time, the messages we and the world are receiving remain confusing and contradictory, while Iran's position remains firm and clear." He continued: "Respect our rights and lift the sanctions; in that case, there will be an agreement." Araghchi also wrote: "Let me be clear: there is no scenario in which Iran would give up its hard-won right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, a right also enjoyed by all other member states of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty." Araghchi concluded his post by emphasizing that the great Iranian people have proven their strength and resilience in the face of those who have attempted to impose their hegemony over them. He explained that Iran always welcomes dialogue based on mutual respect and always rejects any form of bullying and threats. It is noteworthy that Trump told reporters on Friday, while on his flight from the UAE capital to Washington, that his country had presented a formal proposal to Iran as part of the indirect talks being mediated by the Sultanate of Oman.
