Rahul digs in as India build lead over England
LEEDS, England - Opener KL Rahul's classy half-century helped India extend their lead over England to 159 runs as they reached lunch at 153-3 on day four of the first test at Headlingley on Monday.
Resuming on 90-2, with a lead of 96, India captain Shubman Gill, who made his highest test score in the first innings, chopped onto his stumps to fall for eight, a second wicket for Brydon Carse.
England continued to create chances. Rahul was dropped by Harry Brook on 58 after reaching his 18th test half century and Rishabh Pant survived a DRS review for lbw.
The pair played cautiously but kept the scoreboard ticking with Rahul unbeaten on 72 at the interval and Pant on 31. REUTERS

Pant, Rahul put India in command against England
LEEDS, England :Rishabh Pant became the first Indian to score twin centuries in a test in England and helped the touring side move into a strong position on 298-4 at tea on day four of the first test at Headingley on Monday. Resuming the day on 90-2, with a lead of 96 runs, India captain Shubman Gill, who made his highest test score in the first innings, chopped onto his stumps to fall for eight, a second wicket for Brydon Carse. England sensed an opportunity having dragged themselves back into the test on Sunday, but Pant's partnership with KL Rahul swung momentum back in India's favour. The normally box office Pant started his innings quite conservatively, happy to watch on as Rahul moved smoothly to his century, his ninth in tests. After smashing two sixes in three balls after lunch, however, Pant hit the accelerator and brought out his typically flamboyant shots to all corners of the ground, with his hundred meaning, for the first time, there have been five Indian centuries scored in one test match. Pant eventually tried one shot too many, caught chasing another six on the boundary by Zak Crawley for 118, but the damage had been done in a 195-run fourth wicket stand, with Rahul still unbeaten on 120 at tea.

Liberty Media receives nod from EU regulators for MotoGP deal

Liberty Media had argued the transaction would allow it to grow the reach and appeal of MotoGP. The commission said the decision followed a lengthy probe that examined if the acquisition would reduce competition for the licensing of sports content broadcasting rights. "Based on the evidence gathered, the Commission found that on such markets the companies are not close competitors for the licensing of broadcasting rights for sports content," the commission said in a statement. "Therefore, the transaction will not remove important competitive constraints between Formula 1 and MotoGP," it added. Liberty Media CEO Derek Chang welcomed the EU's clearance and reiterated he saw the potential for strong growth in MotoGP. "Today's approval from the European Commission marks the final condition to closing Liberty's acquisition of MotoGP," said Chang. "MotoGP is a highly attractive premium sports asset with incredible racing, a passionate fanbase and a strong cash flow profile. We believe the sport and brand have significant growth potential, which we will look to realize through deepening the connection with the core fan base and expanding to a wider global audience," he added. Liberty Media said its acquisition of 84% of Dorna was worth 4.3 billion euros on an enterprise value basis, and represented an equity value of 3.7 billion euros.
