The Detroit Red Wings are getting set for what might be a hectic summer. Coming off a ninth consecutive playoff miss, general manager Steve Yzerman seems poised to make significant changes both bringing players onto and possibly away from the roster.
One of the names that has been floating around in trade rumors is veteran wing Vladimir Tarasenko. The Red Wings inducted him last summer with high expectations, but his inaugural season in Detroit did not turn out as expected.
Washington Capitals would be a perfect landing place for Vladimir Tarasenko
Washington Capitals may be interested in acquiring Tarasenko, as per NHL insider Michael DeRosa of NHLTradeRumors. With the Capitals needing scoring depth on the wing, Tarasenko could be a good addition.
The Capitals might be a team to look at if Tarasenko is traded this summer," DeRosa said. "He could provide them with another good weapon for their power play and some depth in their top nine.
Vladimir Tarasenko, a two-time Stanley Cup winner, had a subdued year by his standards. Nevertheless, the Capitals might be enhanced by his playoff ability and talent, particularly with the addition of Alex Ovechkin.
If Detroit does deal with him, they won't probably ask for much.

The primary objective would be to shed his $4.75 million cap hit and rebuild their forward ranks.

Steve Yzerman Is Under Fire As The Red Wings Waste Lucas Raymond's Spark
Steve Yzerman still believes in Vladimir Tarasenko's talent
Even with the rumors of a trade, Steve Yzerman still believes in Tarasenko's abilities. "His game was probably better than the game he produced," said Yzerman. "He was frustrated, and I think that hurt him. But I think he can produce more for us."
Yzerman further added that Tarasenko has an opportunity to become a top-six forward next season if he stays in Detroit.
The expectation is that increased opportunities for scoring and a new start for the season may be able to get him back on track.
The Red Wings are also likely to be busy in free agency. Yzerman firmly stated that he is ready to go after some big names that can help the team go to the next level.
While they have a couple of rising stars in Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, and others leading the charge, Detroit is now looking for the right veterans to help them end their playoff drought. Whether that involves retaining or shipping out Tarasenko remains to be determined. One thing is certain, however: the Red Wings will not be silent this offseason.

Surinder describes Delhis best pitch award in IPL 2025 'special', DDCA Director reveals steps taken to promote womens cricket
New Delhi [India], June 15 (ANI): Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Director Shyam Sunder Sharma lavished praise on the impact Delhi Premier League (DPL) has made and outlined steps being taken to promote women's cricket and its growth. According to Sharma, 14 players earned a spot in the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and turned into prospects for the Indian team. "The first season of DPL went very well. Everyone praised DPL. Fourteen youngsters went into IPL because of it. Everyone is saying that Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni and Digvesh Rathi are being seen as future prospects for India. This is because of DPL and this tournament was the brainchild of our president, Rohan Jaitley," he told ANI. Sharma also revealed that subsidy is being offered to the clubs under DDCA to promote women's cricket and added, "We have a special focus on women's cricket. There has been an addition to our subsidiary; whichever club plays a women's team will be given a subsidiary of ₹ 1 lakh." Former India cricketer Surinder Khanna hailed the DDCA for being awarded the Best Pitch and Ground Award of the Season in IPL 2025 and described the milestone as "special." Surinder credited the DDCA management and the ground in-charge, Ankit, for providing top-class wickets, especially in Delhi's scorching heat, which offered enjoyable conditions for both sides. "I think Rohan Jaitley, his team and Ankit, the ground in-charge, who made pitches and gave top-class wickets. When the BCCI gives you an award, your batteries recharge. Earlier, these awards were handed to two or three centres, but this time, they were awarded to Delhi, which is special. I know it is not easy to provide quality wickets where both teams enjoy it. I am very happy, and I hope they continue to do it in the future," Surinder told ANI. Last year, the DDCA launched the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL). This year, Women's DPL is set to arrive, which would be a "great platform" for the rising talent to climb the ladder of success and earn a spot in the India Women's team, according to Surinder. "Our young girls have great talent, and they could be selected for the WPL and the Indian women's team. It is a great platform. You are being watched by so many people all around the world, and so many franchises can pick you," he added. (ANI)

AB De Villiers Reveals Virat Kohli Didn't Speak To Him For Months. Here Is The Reason
Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers has hinted that Virat Kohli ignored him for months, probably after he announced Anushka Sharma 's pregnancy to the world during a live stream. Last year, de Villiers confirmed that Virat and Anushka expecting their second child, after the former India captain decided to skip the entire Test series against England at home. In another video just days after his revelation, de Villiers said that he made a blunder and shared news that wasn't true. Kohli and de Villiers had a reunion earlier this month after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their first IPL title. The two RCB icons shared a hug and celebrated after the win over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final. De Villiers, however, revealed that Kohli only started talking to him again a few months back. "I know we were in the same boat because we spoke about it. He's been in touch with me over the last six months. Thank goodness! Because I did have a bit of a footfall not too long ago when they were expecting their second child. So, I was very relieved when he started talking to me again," de Villiers told De Villiers also shared his views on Kohli's recent retirement from Test cricket. "We all know he went through a bit of a patch and sort of wanted to bounce a few ideas off me. How did I get through certain moments of my life. So, I knew what kind of phase he was going through, considering his age and how many games he's played, and the dynamics of being in the team all the time, the politics thereof as well. There are a lot of things weigh in on you, and so I shared with him from the heart what I felt and what I thought watching him on the screen. I'm happy he is still around playing cricket and that decision comes from the heart and I support him 100 per cent with that," he added.

‘Lot of ‘poisonous characters' in that team': AB de Villiers recalls ‘bittersweet' Delhi Daredevils IPL stint
South Africa legend AB de Villiers has had an enjoyable fortnight cheering on his country and his favoured IPL franchise ending their long title droughts. While the Proteas downed Australia to lift the ICC World Test Championship mace at Lord's, de Villiers was in attendance at the home of cricket, 11 days after he was present during the IPL 2025 final when his former team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, won their first title in 17 years. However, in a recent interview, the former South Africa captain recounted a few unpleasant memories from back in time, during his first three IPL seasons with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). de Villiers recalled the toxicity of the environment that left him with bittersweet memories even as he shared the dressing room with some of his childhood heroes. 'I'd hate to give you names-burning people, you know-but the Delhi Daredevils were in shambles. There were a lot of poisonous characters in that team,' he told 'There were lots of legends, which makes it a bittersweet memory for me. I still remember those times fondly. Some of the highlights of my life and career came during that stint-especially spending time with guys like Glenn McGrath and Daniel Vettori. These were my heroes growing up, and I was honestly a bit scared of them,' de Villiers added. While the 41-year-old enjoyed the 2009 season in South Africa, playing all 15 games for 465 runs, including a century, de Villiers only tallied 13 games in total from 2008 and 2010. '2009 was nice. I played almost the entire season in South Africa, came back, and I thought I was going to be the man. Then, all of a sudden, I wasn't playing again,' he recalled. 'It was mixed feelings. I was told I would be retained, and then the next minute, I saw myself in the auction. I didn't even know what had happened. So many weird things went on.' de Villiers was later roped in by RCB during the 2011 auction and would emerge as one of their greatest batting superstars alongside Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle. Aggregating 4511 runs in 145 innings, de Villiers remains as RCB's second-highest run-getter, behind Kohli. 'The day I walked into RCB, I felt like they wanted me to play every game. I was so surprised. They just went, 'You're the man. You're going to grow here. You're going to become a great player with us-you're part of the family.' Done and dusted.'
