So, what's up with the whole "Yes 'Cers" rally cry?
Ok, you know how sometimes people say "Yes, sir" in celebration? It's pretty much like that. But instead of 'Sir' it's "Cer" as in Pacers. Yes, it's really that simple.
It's also become a whole playoff identity for the state of Indiana. There are Yes 'Cer billboards, Yes 'Cer murals and Yes 'Cer merch galore. None of this is shocking because most teams find playoff slogans, but in Indy it's become fully embraced by the fandom.
How big of a deal could it really be?
The Pacers celebrated their return to the NBA Finals for the first time 25 years by giving away free bags of Yes 'Cers gear. It was so popular that downtown Indianapolis — a place commonly referred to as 'Nap Town' because of how sleepy it is — flooded with bumper-to-bumper traffic leading to multiple complaints.
Per the IndyStar:
While thousands waited in line for their 'Yes'Cers' swag bags downtown, many took to social media to complain about the wait and the traffic jam the Pacers giveaway caused during rush hour.
Major intersections gridlocked as drivers in quest of the Pacers gear formed a one-lane traffic flow to the South Pennsylvania Street side of Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Is there a Yes 'Cers anthem yet?
Of course there is. Come on, now. You can thank singer-songwriter and die-hard Pacers fan Josh Chalfant for the track.
"For years I've wanted to write a song for one of my sports teams," Chalfant told Axios. "I just had this 'Yes 'Cers' melody going through my head. It happened quickly, within minutes."

In a statement made two days after McAfee's big speech, Mellencamp released the following on X: The Knicks/Pacers games have been very entertaining for anyone who likes basketball or sports. I attended Game 4 in Indianapolis. 'Hoosier Hospitality' …I was embarrassed when somebody, under whose direction I don't know, called out some of the people who had made the trip from New York to support their team — and in turn, support our team. The audience booed these people. I'd say that was not Hoosier Hospitality. One could only say it's poor, poor sportsmanship. I was not proud to be a Hoosier, and I've lived here my entire life. On behalf of most Hoosiers, I would like to apologize for our poor behavior. I'm sure the Pacers had nothing to do with this smackdown. I'm not sure if I'm reading into it too deeply, but I have to think John Mellencamp using the term "smackdown" had to be a rib at Pat McAfee being a WWE commentator. No doubt, McAfee's wrestling experience led him to give what was reportedly an impromptu speech that was not rehearsed ahead of delivery. It's worth noting that as someone living in Indiana, I've seen many residents collectively confused by the singer's issue with what seemed like a mostly light-hearted diss to Timothée Chalamet and others. Pat McAfee rarely is quiet when it comes to criticism, so it was a given he wasn't going to ignore John Mellencamp's veiled criticism even though it didn't mention him by name. While the ESPN commentator has been known to drop a cryptic message on social media, he wasn't afraid to let people on X know who the singer was talking about in this scathing message: I am 'somebody' Back when there was some talk going back and forth between Pat McAfee and Ben Stiller, I almost suspected it was a subtle build to some future upcoming WWE event we'd see later this year with a Peacock subscription. Now with John Mellencamp in the mix, I'm assuming there were actual hurt feelings about McAfee calling out celebrities at the event. Coco Gauff gets French Open moment with Spike Lee hug after giving him ‘something to cheer for' after Knicks loss
No Knicks in the NBA Finals meant Spike Lee flew to Paris for a different American sports victory. The Academy Award-winning American filmmaker was in attendance for Coco Gauff's first Roland Garros title on Saturday morning, witnessing the 21-year-old take down world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4. Dressed in all white with a Yankees hat and sunglasses, Lee, with the occasional seat twitching during the competitive, two-hour and 38-minute match, stood up and cheered on Gauff to her second Grand Slam win. Gauff, 21, eventually fell to the ground as tears rolled down her face in victory, and before going up to her family and coaches' box to greet them, she stopped to see Lee. During the post-match press conference, she said she planned on saying something if she ended up winning the match. 'So, once I won the match, I went to the ground and everything, I went straight to Spike Lee. I wanted to tell him, 'I had to do it. 'That was the first time I really met him up close,' she said. 'I've seen him at my matches at the U.S. Open, and when I saw him on the court today, I saw him when I was warming up. They panned the camera to him in the gym when I was warming up and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, Spike Lee is here.' And then I kinda felt bad because I usually put my towel in that spot, which is why I feel like he sat there. But because you know the lower-ranked player gets the other box, I put my towel in the other box.' With the victory, Gauff became the first American woman in a decade to win the French Open, since Serena Williams did so in 2015. She is also the youngest American to win the women's singles title since 2002, when Williams — at 20 years old — won the first of her three career titles in Paris.

ESPN teammate chides Stephen A. Smith as new SiriusXM Radio radio show drama continues
The list keeps growing of those annoyed by Stephen A. Smith's new SiriusXM Radio show. ESPN's Joe Fortenbaugh, who co-hosts 'Carlin vs. Joe' weekdays from 12-3 p.m. ET on ESPN Radio, called out Stephen A. Smith on Thursday over his new show that will now compete in that time slot in a back-and-forth that alternated between joking and serious tones. The exchange came on the heels of Michelle Beadle calling out Smith after the reveal that his new show would take her spot on SiriusXM, which led to her and co-host Cody Decker being fired. But factually, when you spread yourself so thin, it's hard to be right. Not a fan.' Smith attempted to distance himself from the manner in which Beadle learned of the developments.
