InZOI director hopes the Sims rival will be "successful and beloved," continues moonlighting as a philosopher: "Life is a tragedy when seen up close, but a comedy when viewed from a distance"
The hyperreal life sim InZOI is poised to be a worthy Sims competitor once it releases in early access later this month, offering players both a tidy open world and, according to director Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim, life-changing philosophy.
"As the saying goes, 'Life is a tragedy when seen up close, but a comedy when viewed from a distance,'" Kjun says somberly about InZOI in PC Gamer magazine's new issue 407, Jokerfying simulation games forevermore.
Kjun has an amusing tendency to speak about InZOI like this, as if he's an ancient astrologer who's just seen the future in a barrel of wine; "It is said that among primates," Kjun said after InZOI was delayed in 2024, "raising a human child to adulthood takes the longest time because humans must be prepared to endure and adapt to their ever-changing surroundings. The extra love and care that is required to properly nurture a child is how I see our journey with InZOI – a game that we will be nurturing together from its Early Access birth."
An early congratulations to us all on our new parenthood – InZOI's early access period begins March 28. More seriously, though, if you take the time to embrace his high-flown metaphors, it's clear that Kjun understands that intimacy is what attracts players to games like InZOI or The Sims. These simulation games grant you nearly full control of their worlds, as long as you take the time to learn all the quirks of gameplay – playing God requires patience.
And a good attitude, Kjun says.
"Beyond simply creating a successful and beloved game," Kjun tells PC Gamer, "we hope that InZOI will bring comfort to many players' lives."
"We believe that observing life from a broader perspective can help us enjoy it more," he continues,adding: "We hope players will experience diverse lives, explore various scenarios, and enjoy life as if it were a playground."
Hyper-realistic The Sims rival inZOI will announce a "roadmap for future updates, and pricing and DLC plans" in this month's showcase.

Fans still have a while to go before seeing Chris Hemsworth rocking the hammer again in Thor-mode for the Russo brothers' Avengers: Doomsday, but there's no wait required to see the actor showing off his impressive badassery in other ways. The second season of his unscripted series LImitless, now subtitled Live Better Now, is finally available to stream via Hulu subscription and Disney+ subscription, nearly three years after the first season. I'm pretty sure Thor never had to deal with pepper spray or game night electrocutions, though. The second season of Limitless comprises three episodes of high-octane and high-intensity situations that do indeed test the limits of the human body in various ways, such as fear-abating cliff dives and playing drums in front of a screaming audience for the first time. For the episode 'Pain,' the Australian agreed to go through some minor electrocutions, as well as getting doused with pepper spray, and it's for a reason that I was surprised I could actually relate to: long-held chronic back pain. Speaking with TVInsider about that episode and others, Hemsworth was asked why he went through such terrible experiences, and he said it was all about trying to find a way to successfully fix or work around the constant back troubles, saying: Because I've struggled with issues with my back and back pain for years, since I was 15. And if someone was going to offer up a solution, I was onboard, whether or not it would mean I'd have to stimulate some more pain to get there. I'm now being a little gentle with myself and having more compassion for the pain and looking at it as, this is my body trying to protect me and saying, 'Hey, just go gentle today,' rather than what I had done for years, which was try and stifle that and compress it and remove it and avoid it and deny it. It's like listening to a whatever makes more sense. Having dealt with pinched nerves and muscle problems with my own back for decades, I can 100% sympathize with the decision to go far outside the box to find relief. In Hemsworth's, that box is full of Jenga pieces. In the episode, Hemsworth and his pals Aaron Grist and Luke Zocchi each get electrodes taped to their chests and stomachs, with a controlled set of shocks encompassing the first part of the process. Then things get more difficult as the mini-electrocutions are delivered as the guys engage in a social activity: playing Jenga! Not that all that much Jenga-playing happens, with each of the men laughing and reacting maniacally as they get jolted. One goal with these experiements is to see whethever or not a secondary form of pain can successfully get someone to refocus their receptors so that the initial pain isn't felt anymore. Kind of like how if you have a bad headache, stubbing the shit out of your toe on a bedframe can temporarily make said headache dissipate. Elsewhere in the episode, Hemsworth teams up with a special forces unit led by someone who, instead of being an expert on pain management, is more of a professional pain-deliverer. Perhaps the most bizzarely excrutiating part of the four-stage process involved everyone getting their faces awashed in pepper spray and then grouping up to pull 300-lb. tires by rope, all while the gases and fumes from flash grenades further impede their sight and breathing abilities. Everything the special forces unit went through sounded and looked like pure hell, and I don't think anyone should expect to see Chris Hemsworth making a repeat appearance. As he put it in the show: I've never been pepper-sprayed before, and...I don't wanna be pepper-sprayed again. For all the aches and pains that Hemsworth went through on Limitless, he actually wasn't allowed to attempt surfing a 40-foot wave as he'd aimed to, due to insurance issues with Disney, who didn't want him injuring himself before Thor's big return. Thankfully, the actor wasn't dealing with any such painful experiences with his family at the series' premiere event in July. All three episodes of LImitless are currently available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu. Watching the show hasn't exactly helped my own back problems, but certainly made me grateful about not suffering electrocution pains at the same time. It's the little things. After James Gunn ‘Just' Confirmed A Superman Sequel, Stans Have A Lot Of Thoughts

DC co-CEO James Gunn has been crafting the DCU, with the first slate of projects titled Gods and Monsters. And after the filmmaker seemingly confirmed a sequel to Superman was coming, fans have thoughts. Superman was the first big-screen installment of the DCU (which also has projects streaming with an HBO Max subscription). The blockbuster has performed quite well, leading fans to wonder about upcoming DC movies. Gunn was recently asked on Threads about what he's doing now that the movie is out, and he responded with: Peacemaker press!! And sequel writing!!! Talk about a thrilling update. While Superman makes money at the box office, it sounds like he's already noodling up ideas for where to continue the story. This should probably not be a huge surprise, given the wild pace of Gunn's work since starting his position at DC. Of course, there is still some confusion about exactly what he's teasing. But per this clarification, it seems like we're going to see more of an ensemble film with Superman being part of it. Could the Justice League be coming together? The group was still forming in the last DC flick. There is a ton of world-building being done by DC right now, on both the small and silver screens. Superman featured other heroes as well as characters who will become major presences down the line, such as Maxwell Lord and Supergirl. James Gunn is the architect of this franchise and is also involved as a writer/director. Now the question is: what's going to happen in a Superman sequel? Superman is in theaters now as part of the 2025 movie release list, and the DCU will expand again when Peacemaker Season 2 arrives on HBO Max August 21st.

Fans Have Been Wondering What's Going On With That Superman Sequel. James Gunn Just Gave Us More Details

While other DC projects were already well underway, Superman's success means the franchise can officially hit the gas. It seems James Gunn has already just done that too, as he's already hard at work on the next chapter of the 'Superman Saga." The next chapter of the DCU is right around the corner with the debut of Peacemaker Season 2 on the 2025 TV schedule. Speaking with THR, Gunn said the new season will follow directly from the events of Superman. However, he also has his eye on what's next for David Corenswet's character, and he already has the outline of the idea. He said… I've already finished the treatment for the next story in what I'll call the 'Superman Saga.' The treatment is done, which means a very, very worked out treatment. I'm working on that and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today. Gunn doesn't use the word 'sequel' here, so it's not entirely clear if he's talking about a direct follow-up to Superman or some other tangentially related project. We know that the sequel is an active project, but this could be something else. "Saga" is the word the MCU uses to describe a years-long story arc that's made up of multiple "Phases" with multiple movies and TV series involved. Coming from the MCU, the Guardians of the Galaxy director might be using the word in the same context, but that's far from certain. It could be a movie that has Superman in it, and thus continues his story, but is about something or someone else. The one thing that seems likely is that, given the film is only in the treatment stage, it's not a project that had been announced previously as part of Gunn's Chapter One of the DCU. Whether or not the Supergirl movie coming out next year is technically part of the 'Superman saga' in Gunn's mind is unknown, but it would seem likely considering the character's connection to Superman and her appearance in this year's film. One already has to wonder if the cameo appearance could be repaid, and we might see David Corenswet's Superman in the Supergirl movie. The upshot is that for people who loved the new Superman film and want to see that story continue, it appears to be on the fast track. It's probably at least a few years away from being on the screen, but that would still be quite a turnaround for something of this size. If James Gunn already has a solid treatment, a screenplay could be written within months, and actual filming could start within a year of that, with a release date in the summer of 2027, is certainly within the realm of possibility. However, for now, nothing is confirmed. But at least we do know that Superman's story is well on its way to continuing. Solve the daily Crossword
