Delhi records max temp of 35 degrees Celsius

New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) Delhi on Wednesday recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, 0.8 degree above the normal, the Met office said.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.8 degrees Celsius.
The weather office had earlier forecasted a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
The relative humidity at 8.30 am and 5.30 pm was 74 per cent and 63 per cent.
The air quality was recorded in the moderate category as the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 4 pm stood at 120.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'. PTI SSJ VN VN

Rain in Delhi, waterlogging hits traffic
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) Rain lashed Delhi on Thursday morning, with the India Meteorological Department issuing an 'orange' alert for the city and warning of more in the coming hours. The rain led to waterlogging in several parts of the national capital and slowed traffic, inconveniencing commuters during the morning rush hour. During the 24-hour period which ended at 8.30 am on Thursday, Delhi's primary weather station at Safdarjung recorded 13.1 mm of rainfall, Aya Nagar logged 57.4 mm, Palam 49.4 mm, Lodhi Road 12 mm, Pragati Maidan 9 mm, and Pusa 5 mm, according to the IMD. The IMD has issued the 'orange' alert, which means 'be prepared", warning of moderate to heavy rainfall during the day, along with thunderstorms and lightning in several parts of Delhi. Due to the rain, traffic was hit in many parts of the city, including stretches along Ring Road, parts of south Delhi, and several arterial roads connecting central and east Delhi. Visuals from near Subroto Park and the Outer Ring Road, Dwarka Sector-20, Basai Road in Gurugram, and parts of Ghaziabad and Noida showed vehicles navigating waterlogged roads. 'Due to the recent rains causing waterlogging at GTK Depot, Jahangirpuri, and Adarsh Nagar, traffic on Old GT Road is likely to be severely affected. To avoid congestion, commuters are advised to avoid taking Old GT Road and are requested to plan accordingly or take alternate routes," Delhi Traffic Police said in a post on X. The rain brought down the minimum temperature in Delhi to 23.6 degrees Celsius, 3.2 notches below normal. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 32 degrees Celsius, the IMD said. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the city was recorded at 110, in the 'moderate' category, at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. Heavy Rainfall Hits Delhi, Triggers Waterlogging & Traffic Disruption
In view of the rainfall, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory mentioning the waterlogging situation. Incessant rainfall lashed certain parts of Delhi on Thursday, disrupting traffic. While it provides respite from the scorching heat and humidity, several areas witnessed waterlogging. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for a few regions in the national capital. In view of the rainfall, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory mentioning the waterlogging situation. Taking to X, the Delhi Traffic Police wrote, 'Due to ongoing rain causing waterlogging at Gali No. 10, New Rohtak Road, Anand Parbat, traffic is affected in both the carriageways from Kamal T-Point towards Punjabi Bagh and vice versa." The advisory further mentioned that the commuters are advised to take an alternate route towards Sarai Rohilla. The commuters heading towards Kamal T-Point are advised to take a U-turn from Ashok Main Park Metro Station towards Punjabi Bagh. The Delhi Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory for the Independence Day celebration on August 15, 2025, at the Red Fort. Himachal: Cloudbursts, flash floods lead to over 300 road closures, warning issued in 3 districts
More than 300 roads, including two national highways, were closed in Himachal Pradesh amid fresh incidents of cloudbursts and flash floods on Wednesday, reported PTI. Several bridges were also washed away in the state's Shimla, and Lahaul and Spiti districts. In Shimla, a police post was swept away after floods in the Ganvi ravine, while a bus stand and the adjoining shops were also damaged due to heavy rain. Unidentified officials told the news agency that two bridges were washed away, cutting off Koot and Kyav panchayats. In Lahaul and Spiti district, two more bridges were washed away in floods triggered by cloudbursts in Karpat, Changut and Udgos Nala of the Mayad valley. Incidents of cloudbursts were also reported in Shrikhand hill in the Nirmand subdivision and Bathadh hill in the Banjar subdivision in Kullu district, PTI reported. The Kurpan ravine was flooded and the administration evacuated the Bagipul market due to the extreme weather. Kullu Deputy Commissioner Torul S Ravish told the news agency that a team had left for the site and the damage is being assessed. No loss of life has been reported so far, she said, adding that several cottages had been damaged and vehicles washed away. A cloudburst also occurred in Shimla's Rampur area. A total of 325 roads have been closed in the state. The State Emergency Operation Centre said that 179 of these roads were in Mandi district and 71 in the adjoining Kullu district. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in the Chamba, Kangra, and Mandi districts on Thursday. It has also issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in isolated areas from Friday to Sunday. Unidentified officials also told PTI that the state had incurred losses to the tune of Rs 2,031 crore since the onset of the monsoon on June 20. So far this monsoon, 126 persons have died in rain-related incidents in the state, while 36 were missing. The state has also seen 63 incidents of flash floods, 31 cloudbursts and 57 major landslides. Red alert in Telangana Telangana saw heavy rainfall in several districts on Wednesday, with at least three locations recording over 20 centimetres of showers overnight, The Hindu reported, citing data from the state Development Planning Society. The IMD has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in three districts – Vikarabad, Sangareddy and Medak – and an orange alert in Kamareddy, Nizamabad and Adilabad districts on Thursday. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also announced that all government and private schools within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits will function for half a day on Thursday in light of the weather, The Hindu reported.
