Sharjah Consultative Council approves two draft laws for 2025

The meeting was led by Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, the Chairman of the Council, and Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, the Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, was present to discuss the proposed changes. The Council reviewed reports from its committees that provided insights into both laws.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al Nuaimi gave a speech highlighting the significance of the day, which marked Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, falling on the nineteenth day of Ramadan. He emphasized the proud humanitarian legacy passed down from the UAE's ancestors and founding fathers, something that has become a cherished part of the national identity.
He continued by saying, 'The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless his soul, made this area flourish with plants, creating a space that symbolizes a respectful life for everyone. It preserves dignity and promotes harmony and love, connecting values that are cherished and passed down through generations. His impact is felt more deeply than words can express. Sheikh Zayed was passionate about this vision. His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, called him a shining star of this land, inspiring progress, comforting the fearful, feeding the hungry, educating those who lack knowledge, and nurturing the community. May God have mercy on our founding leader.'
Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, the Secretary-General of the Sharjah Consultative Council, then began discussing two proposed laws that the council had received. These proposals included changes to the law regulating the police and security forces in Sharjah for the year 2025, as well as updates to the laws governing human resources for military personnel in Sharjah. Following the council's internal rules, these proposals were sent to a committee for further study and consideration.
Al Jarwan explained that during the discussion of new laws, the Council will review each proposal one by one. They will look closely at each article, take notes, and either approve changes or keep them as they were presented by the Executive Council, using a helpful comparison chart.
Major General Abdullah bin Amer gave a speech highlighting the important role of the Sharjah Consultative Council in overseeing the police's work. He emphasized that the two new draft laws are crucial because they will enhance the abilities of the police force and other military agencies in Sharjah. This includes support from institutions like the Sharjah Police Sciences Academy, the General Directorate of the Amiri Guard, and the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority.
He expressed his heartfelt thanks to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his ongoing support for the police and acknowledged the continuous interest shown by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler, Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council. Bin Amer encouraged Council members to ask questions and share their thoughts about the new laws.
Hamad Abdulwahab Al Qawadi, a member of the Council's committee on legislative and legal matters, presented a report on a new law aimed at reorganizing the police and security forces in Sharjah. The Council discussed various aspects of the law, focusing on how it would improve resources for the police while ensuring the best interests of those serving in the military sector. During this discussion, council members shared their thoughts on the proposed changes, and government representatives provided explanations about the law's provisions.
After thorough consideration, the Council approved the new law regarding the police and security forces in Sharjah. Al Qawadi then introduced another report related to a law that addresses human resources for military personnel in Sharjah. Again, the Council reviewed the details of this law, emphasizing how it would support military staff effectively.
As the discussion continued, council members provided feedback, and government representatives clarified any questions regarding the law's implementation. The Council subsequently approved the updates to the human resources law for military personnel.
To conclude the session, the Council's General Secretariat announced that the next meeting is scheduled for April 10th, where they will discuss a draft law focused on regulating the judicial authority in Sharjah.
