
Abergavenny industrial units among latest planning applications
The 12 small starter industrial units are proposed to be developed adjacent to Q Care Offices on Nantgavenny Lane.
In addition to the industrial units, an application has been submitted for the erection of a new detached dwelling on North Street.
Both applications are currently pending consideration.
Planning permission, changes of use and industrial developments
Other applications submitted for planning permission include a change of use for six camper van pitches, an office caravan, and a vending shelter at The Halfway, Llantilio Crossenny.
At BAE Systems in Glascoed, Monkswood, plans have been submitted for ancillary buildings and an electrical substation.
Plas Mawr in Usk could see the installation of eight charging/storage units for mobility scooters if planning permission is granted.
Gwent Europark, Magor, could become home to a new industrial development, with an application submitted for construction under B1, B2, and B8 use classes.
At Storefield Farm, Magor, plans have been submitted for the erection of a livestock building.
Little Cherry Orchard, Shirenewton, has submitted a rewilding project, carport, and storage construction for consideration.
Gaerllwyd Farm, Devauden, is seeking a change of use to equine, with stable construction and drainage included in their application.
Householder applications include retrospective permission for outbuilding use at Maindiff Drive, Llantilio Pertholey, rear extension and porch upgrades at Nantgavenny Cottages, Llantilio Pertholey, and the installation of a sunroom and front porch at Hillside Farm, Trellech.
A single-storey extension and loft dormer have been applied for at Mill Street, Usk.
The Alma, Shirenewton, has submitted an application for the construction of a barn and donkey stable.
Discharge of conditions
Several conditions have been discharged across multiple sites, including bird and bat box plan confirmation at King Henry VIII School, Abergavenny, and the discharge of roofing and planning conditions for Barn B, Winston Court, Llanvetherine.
Biodiversity and planting conditions have been discharged for a development near Tudor Road, Wyesham, and Welsh Water-related conditions for the Tudor Road site, Wyesham, have also been discharged.
Multiple environmental and safety conditions have been discharged at BAE Systems, Glascoed.
Slate samples have been approved for The Gatehouse, St Mary's Church, Usk, and partial and full condition discharges have been made at The Rectory, Gwernesney.
Roofing slates sample discharge has been made at Walnut Tree Cottage, Llangybi, and discharge for windows, doors, and roof light details has been made at The Rectory, Gwernesney.
Several conditions have been discharged at Crossways Farm, Chepstow.
Outline planning permission
An outline planning permission application has been submitted for the demolition of a garage and the construction of a detached three-bedroom dwelling at Albert Road, Abergavenny.
Non material amendments
Non-material amendments have been submitted for various sites, including an amendment to a covered area at Park Crescent, Abergavenny, minor window and door position changes at Waun Arw Farm, Magor, and plot and door position adjustments at Crossways Farm, Chepstow.
Other applications include certificates of lawful use or development, modifications or removals of conditions, listed building consents, and fast-track full planning permissions.

Scottish shipyard owner posts rise in sales and profits
BAE Systems, which employs more than 5,000 people across Scotland, said it has 'continued to deliver mission-critical capabilities for the UK's armed forces'. So far in 2025, BAE Systems' operations in Scotland included officially opening a £12 million state-of-the-art shipbuilding academy, which provides life-long learning to the entire Naval Ships workforce, and the Janet Harvey Hall, which allows two warships to be built side-by-side simultaneously. BAE Systems has hiked its profit and sales guidance, as the British defence giant cashes in on an increase in military spending amid growing geopolitical conflict. The London-listed group said revenue in the first six months of the year soared 11 per cent to £14.6billion and earnings were up 13 per cent to £1.5billionn. Defence firms including BAE Systems have been boosted by a race to rearm across Europe since Russia's invasion of Ukraine three years ago. And it is set to benefit further after Nato members pledged to increase military spending to 5 per cent by 2035. '[The] Nato summit of a few weeks ago and the consensus [to increase defence spending] really underpins our confidence in the long term,' BAE chief executive Charles Woodburn said. But shares in the FTSE 100 giant dipped more than 2 per cent on Wednesday morning as investors were disappointed by the scale of the upgrade. Woodburn said there might have been 'a bit of profit taking going on' on Wednesday but added that he is 'confident in the long-term outlook'. BAE Systems shares are up more than 50 per cent so far this year. BAE received £13.2billion worth of new orders in the first six months of the year, taking its order book to £75billion. And it has accelerated investment in UK facilities due to the 'deteriorating threat environment here in Europe,' Woodburn said. In the first six months of the year, it expanded its Glasgow shipbuilding site and opened a new £25million artillery factory in Sheffield. The company is on track to recruit 2,400 graduates and apprentices in the UK this year. 'We don't ourselves struggle to attract talent', Woodburn said, but warned that 'some of our supply chain may experience more challenges'. 'As the UK, across Europe and the US look to rearm and increase the pace of that, inevitably there are going to be supply chain challenges,' he said. 'We've had quite some shocks to supply chain that we have been able to navigate through,' Woodburn said, citing the Covid-19 pandemic and the start of Russia's war in Ukraine.
