Jayden Seales Breaks Dale Steyn's Record Of Best Bowling Figures In ODIs Against Pakistan

Last Updated: Seales bowled 7.2 overs for the West Indies on Tuesday at Brian Lara Stadium and picked up six wickets for 18 runs in the 202-run win. West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales picked up six wickets for 18 runs in 7.2 overs on Tuesday (August 12) against Pakistan in Tarouba to help the Shai Hope-led side win the third and final ODI of the bilateral series by 202 runs. In the third ODI, Seales produced one of the best bowling figures in ODI history to help the West Indies bowl Pakistan out for just 92 runs. The figures of 6 for 18 in 7.2 overs at Brian Lara Stadium helped Seales break Dale Steyn's record of best bowling figures in ODIs against the Pakistani team. Steyn picked up 6 wickets for 39 runs in nine overs against the Men in Green on November 27, 2013, in Gqeberha. Seales is only the third bowler in history to dismiss at least six Pakistani batters in an ODI match. Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera was the first one to achieve the feat. During the Sri Lanka-Pakistan ODI match played in Pallekele on June 9, 2012, Perera bowled 10 overs and picked up six wickets for 44 runs. In the third ODI of the home series against the Pakistani team, 23-year-old Seales opened his wicket account by getting Saim Ayub caught behind by Shai Hope for a three-ball duck. In his next over he picked up Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan's wickets in back-to-back balls. While Shaifque was caught by Gudakesh Motie for an eight-ball duck, Seales clean bowled Rizwan for a golden duck. In his fifth over of the match, Seales trapped Babar Azam (9 runs) in front of the wickets and completed his five-wicket haul by taking Naseem Shah's catch off his own bowling. Seales' sixth and final wicket of the match came in the form of Hasan Ali. The Pakistani pacer was clean bowled by him for a three-ball duck. Seales' super show with the ball helped West Indies bowl Pakistan out for just 92 runs in 29.2 overs and win the third ODI by 202 runs. view comments First Published: August 13, 2025, 02:29 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium may lose Women's World Cup matches

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru could lose hosting rights for the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup, which commences next month. It is understood that the Bengaluru city police denied permission for the same. This comes after the Justice (Retd.) Michael D'Cunha Commission report stated that the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was not fit to host big-ticket events. The commission, set up by the Karnataka government, inquired into the June 4 stampede outside the stadium that caused 11 deaths during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL title-winning celebrations. The stadium was scheduled to host four 2025 Women's CWC matches. This included the tournament opener (on September 30) – featuring the Indian team – two league outings, and the second semifinal. Only a few days ago, it was announced that all Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 tournament matches would be shifted from M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to Mysuru. This decision was reportedly taken after the police denied permission. While India has hosted Women's CWC in 1978, 1997 and 2013, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has featured in only one game (in 1997). In the same edition, the Gangotri Glades Stadium in then Mysore hosted one league match between Pakistan and Denmark.
