Darcy Graham's Lions debut was short but sweet. The 28-year-old wing was called up to the British and Irish Lions last Monday.Graham showed his worth by scoring the second Lions try against the First Nations and Pasifika XV.But 17 minutes into his debut, Graham, in tears, was forced to leave the field with what looked to be an ankle injury. He was later seen walking around the pitch in a medical boot and is set to have a scan."He's devastated," said British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell. "But to become a Lion and score a try, he should be proud of himself."

Australia v Wales: women's rugby union international

Update: Date: 2025-07-26T03:32:55.000Z Title: Preamble Content: Hello and welcome to live coverage of the women's rugby international between Australia and Wales at Ballymore Stadium in Brisbane. The Wallaroos and Wales meet for the first time on Australian soil with both sides out to build momentum ahead of the Women's Rugby World Cup in England next month. The Wallaroos are also searching for winning form as they continue to find it tough to break through the glass ceiling and challenge the leading World Cup contenders. But they have a strong record over today's opponents – the world No 10 – with seven wins in their past eight matches including a 37-5 thumping last year. Emily Chancellor will captain the Wallaroos for the first time, while veteran Ash Marsters becomes the first woman to reach 40 caps for Australia. Wales are also looking to turnaround a run of poor results after failing to find a win and finishing bottom in the Six Nations. Prop Sisi Tuipulotu's return will give the tourists a huge boost as they look to emulate their victory over Australia last year rather than the crushing defeat to the same that followed just a week later on neutral ground in South Africa. This is the first leg of a rugby double-header feast with a certain touring side taking on the Wallabies in Melbourne later today, while the Wallaroos and Wales will also meet again next week in Sydney. The forecast in Brisbane is for wet and wild conditions surely perfect for an entertaining clash. Kick-off is at 2pm local, or 5am for those following along on BST. I'll be back shortly with the line-up. In the meantime, get in touch with any questions, thoughts and predictions. Why Owen Farrell is NOT a silver bullet who can win Tests for the Lions - this is what he brings instead, writes DAN BIGGAR

I met up for a coffee with Wallabies winger Andrew Kellaway in Melbourne on Friday. We are mates from our Northampton days and we had a pretty honest conversation. I told him the Lions wouldn't have been scared of the team Australia named last week. You need a fear factor. That often stems from the forwards but for me the half-backs was the biggest difference.

A's reliever Jose Leclerc will undergo right shoulder surgery

July 26 - Jose Leclerc has been shut down by the Athletics, and the veteran reliever will require season-ending right shoulder surgery. Brian Schulman, the club's director of sports medicine and performance, said Friday that Arlington-based Dr. Keith Meister will perform the surgery "in the upcoming weeks." After pitching in just 10 games for the Athletics this season, Leclerc landed on the injured list on April 23 with a right lat strain. He had started to play catch, but, according to Schulman, Leclerc could not throw with the required effort and intensity. "This is a tough one, not just for us but for him, personally," Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said. "You never know what the surgery is going to entail. We're hopeful that there's a quick recovery for him, for his career." Leclerc, 31, spent his first eight major league seasons in Texas, and was a major part of the Rangers' bullpen that excelled during the 2023 World Series run. In that season, Leclerc, used as a set-up man, pitched to a 2.68 ERA and fanned 67 batters in 57 innings. He closed on a part-time basis for Texas in 2018 and 2019, amassing 26 saves in those seasons. For his career, the native of the Dominican Republic has appeared in 360 games, all but three of which have come out of the bullpen. He has 41 saves and a 3.34 ERA. He signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Athletics in January. --Field Level Media
