FIA arrests human trafficker from Taftan
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested from Balochistan a key member of a racket involved in human trafficking as part of its ongoing crackdown against human smugglers.
According to a statement issued by the FIA spokesperson on Saturday, the alleged trafficker, identified as Iftikhar Hussain, was taken into custody by the FIA anti-human trafficking circle from the Taftan area of Chagai district which shares borders with Iranian province of Sistan Baluchestan.
The arrested suspect, the FIA said, is a key member of an organized human smuggling gang and has been involved in illegally sending citizens abroad through unauthorized routes.
"The suspect has unlawfully facilitated the travel of several individuals to foreign countries. Action against him was taken based on a tip-off.
"He was found involved in placing fake FIA immigration stamps on passengers' passports. Several passports and mobile phones were recovered from his possession. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated," the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, the FIA Faisalabad Zone on Saturday also arrested a man involved in human trafficking and visa fraud. The suspect, identified as Umar Irfan, was arrested during a raid in Sahiwal.
According to the FIA, he had been wanted since 2018 for scamming people by promising jobs abroad. He allegedly took over Rs1.1 million from innocent citizens by offering fake overseas employment and demanding illegal payments.

They are accused of "engaging in conduct likely to assist a foreign intelligence service" between August 2024 and February this year, and police have said that it related to Iran. Sepahvand is also charged with carrying out surveillance in preparation to commit serious violence against a person, while Manesh and Noori were charged with surveillance with the intention that serious violent acts would be committed by others. The men appeared by videolink on Friday for a brief hearing at London's Old Bailey court during which their lawyers said all intended to plead not guilty to the charges. FIA 'uncovers' multibillion-rupee scam
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Commercial Banking Circle Islamabad has registered a case involving a multibillion-rupee scam operated through call centres and arrested a woman and a bank manager. According to sources, a network of call centres was revealed in a State Bank of Pakistan report, which highlighted suspicious transactions worth billions of rupees from the accounts of 36 companies. Following an inquiry, the FIA filed a case and arrested a woman named Nida and a private bank manager allegedly linked to the network. The network reportedly includes over six individuals, among them two Chinese nationals. Sources indicate that the criminal enterprise collected funds through illegal online activities, including gambling, loan apps, call centres, fraudulent investment schemes, and pornographic content platforms. These funds were then funneled abroad using various channels such as hawala and hundi, and converted into cryptocurrency. Investigations are also underway into potential involvement of FIA and cyber crime officials. When contacted by The Express Tribune for comment, the FIA spokesperson did not respond. However, a senior FIA officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the registration of the case and ongoing raids for further arrests.
