Foul-plagued Miles McBride provides late spark for Knicks in Game 3 vs. Pacers
INDIANAPOLIS — Miles McBride was on the court for 82 seconds, and he already had three fouls.
The Knicks' valuable reserve spark plug sat from late in the first quarter until midway through the third, but he still had an impact on the Knicks' 106-100 come-from-behind win over the Pacers in Game 3.

'Honestly, shoutout to my teammates, on the bench. Just talking to me and keeping me encouraged and keeping me locked in,' said McBride, who returned in the second half to contribute nine points. 'I just wanted to do everything I could to get out there.
'Obviously, you can't control certain things, but I wanted to make my impact.'
McBride couldn't recall ever being slapped with three fouls in such a short span, joking 'maybe my rookie year, but nothing like that before.'
The fourth-year guard checked into the game with 4:51 remaining in the first quarter, but by the 4:40 mark he already was whistled for two loose-ball fouls. He then fouled T.J. McConnell with 3:20 to go and was replaced by little-used veteran Delon Wright.
'Deuce picked up three fouls in [1:22], I don't know if I've ever seen that before,' coach Tom Thibodeau said.
McBride didn't return to the game until there was 4:26 left in the third quarter with the Knicks trailing 74-59. But he scored seven straight points for the Knicks late in the quarter to bring them within nine.
'It's not easy to do, particularly when you go to the bench after a minute and then you've gotta still stay in the game mentally,' Thibodeau said. 'I thought his intensity was huge for us. He's a catalyst, his defense, his hustle, and I think it gives people energy when you see him flying around like that.'

Knicks Get Bad News on Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Rumors
Knicks Get Bad News on Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After taking a Game 6 loss in the Eastern Conference Finals, the New York Knicks took the playoff exit seriously, firing head coach Tom Thibodeau after five seasons. Advertisement The Knicks posted a 51-31 record in their first year with Karl-Anthony Towns as Jalen Brunson's co-star. The two All-Stars also made the All-NBA teams. There were plenty of successes this past season. Still, New York opted to move on from Thibodeau to find a head coach they believe can take them to the promised land. There are three active coaches the Knicks have been linked to since firing Thibodeau, with the first being Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd. Later on, New York was linked to Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch and Houston Rockets head coach Ime Udoka. The Kidd scenario is quite an interesting one. Brunson's former head coach, the Mavericks' bench boss could be tired of being with his current club, which traded Luka Doncic this past season. Advertisement With the idea of landing Kidd, the Knicks have also been considered a team to watch in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (34) looks on during a game against the Denver Nuggets at Fiserv Sieu-Imagn Images Formerly the Milwaukee Bucks' head coach, Kidd and Antetokounmpo have a history, too, making for a hypothetical where the Knicks acquire both of them for a reunion. However, a recent report could shut down those rumors. There is significantly less momentum for Antetokounmpo to request a trade this offseason, according to Jake Fischer. 'The common belief amongst league insiders that he will remain with the only franchise he's ever played for," Fischer reported. For New York, the hypothetical of landing Kidd and bringing in Antetokounmpo via trade could significantly change the franchise's ability to capture a title. Advertisement With the recent report on Antetokounmpo's likelihood to remain with his club, the Knicks' pipe dream becomes significantly less likely. Still, there is pressure on the organization to nail this offseason after making a move to fire Thibodeau. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 7, 2025, where it first appeared.

Examining if former Celtics 1st-round pick could have worked in Boston
Aaron Nesmith mostly watched from the Celtics bench back in the 2022 NBA Finals run. The C's took the next step toward competitiveness, but since the wing depth was so deep, Nesmith couldn't consistently crack the rotation. But as Nesmith stars for the Pacers during their 2025 playoffs, there's no denying the forward's impact on the game. Nesmith has developed into a legit rotation player for a Pacers team that's one win away from the NBA Finals. Advertisement He was crucial in their Game 1 win over the Knicks as he caught fire from deep. While Nesmith battled an ankle injury, he's played through it so far. Now, the Pacers are looking to close out the East Finals against the Knicks. Indiana holds a 3-1 series lead with Game 5 set for 8 p.m. Thursday in New York. Now, there are likely Celtics fans wondering if the team could have kept Nesmith considering what he's turned into for the Pacers. But there are a lot of moving parts, so probably not. Plus, in this current timeline, it ended with the Celtics winning the 2024 title so it all worked out for the front office. Nesmith was included in the Malcolm Brogdon deal with the Pacers back in the 2022 offseason. Brogdon ended up just being a one-year piece, though he did win Sixth Man of the Year in the 2022-23 season. More importantly, Brogdon was included in the Jrue Holiday deal with the Trail Blazers. Holiday is in trade rumors now, but there's no denying the guard was a big part of the 2024 title run that ended in a ring. Also, Nesmith was allowed to grow into his own when he got to Indiana. The Pacers went 35-47 in 2022-23. Nesmith played 73 games (60 starts) that year, getting consistent playing time for the first time in his career. The Celtics, on the flip side, didn't have minutes like that available fresh off the NBA Finals appearance as they had their eyes on Banner No. 18 at the time. The C's took Nesmith at 14th overall in the 2020 draft as he played his first two seasons in Boston. Advertisement So, it all worked out for both sides. The Pacers got Nesmith in the Brogdon deal while the Celtics eventually got the title (including beating Indiana in the 2024 East Finals). Nesmith, especially, proved that he's a bonafide NBA player as he's enjoyed a stellar playoff run. He's averaging 15.1 points and 6.0 rebounds in 14 playoff games, shooting an eye-popping 51.9% on his 3-pointers. The Pacers look like a team that will continue to be a problem in the East, though, with star guard Tyrese Haliburton leading the way. They've made the East Finals the past two years, plus they're on the edge of making their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000 and just their second-time ever. Nesmith figures to be part of the future in Indiana as he's signed through the 2026-27 season on an affordable $11 million salary. More Celtics content Read the original article on MassLive.

Former Celtics first-round pick has career game in stunning win vs. Knicks
Aaron Nesmith had a night to remember on Wednesday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Pacers forward dropped a career-high 31 points in Indiana's stunning overtime win over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Twenty of Nesmith's 31 points came in the fourth quarter. Advertisement 'I just knew what the game needed, what my teammates needed me to do,' Nesmith said on TNT's 'Inside the NBA.' 'I know I'm a phenomenal shooter, so I just trusted the process and let it fly.' Nesmith, a 2020 first-round pick by the Celtics, never could find a groove with Boston due to inconsistent playing time. The bench was crowded during the 2022 NBA Finals run, so the Celtics traded him to the Pacers for 2023 Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon. But now Nesmith got a fresh start in Indiana as a starter. He was up for the challenge immediately and became a key piece for the Pacers — especially in the playoffs. In 11 playoff games, the forward has averaged 16.0 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 53.8% from 3-point range. Advertisement 'I knew what was going to be asked of me this series, so this past week I was just getting my body right, my conditioning right because I knew what it was going to be,' Nesmith said. 'I knew it was going to be guarding Brunson 94 feet, fighting over screens, playing 28-30-plus minutes and making sure I had my legs, my jumper at the end of the game.'
