Knicks Fans Enraged by Alleged Phantom Call Against Miles McBride Saturday
Knicks Fans Enraged by Alleged Phantom Call Against Miles McBride Saturday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Knicks trailed the Indiana Pacers by a score of 92-77 entering the fourth quarter of Saturday night's Game 6 in Indianapolis. Advertisement The game included lots of exciting back-and-forth play between the Eastern Conference's top two teams and plenty of drama including a controversial call that went against the Knicks during a critical juncture in the third quarter. The play happened as Knicks point guard Miles McBride caught a pass near the left sideline. McBride drifted toward the corner for a chance at a much-needed three-point shot and managed to get it off in time before an Indiana defender came flying in for a potential block. It was then that the Knicks' fortunes took a turn for the worse. Advertisement "Deuce McBride did not step out. Refs straight stole 3 from the #Knicks on a fast break," one fan wrote on X with a replay of the call. "Pretty weird that the announcers didn't say (expletive) when they called that out of bounds," another said. "Blatantly obvious that he never stepped out lol," they added. Others question Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau for not challenging the play. "No challenge or nothing is crazy," one said. The comments poured in as the Knicks attempted to mount a fourth quarter comeback on the road in hopes of stealing another one like they did in Game 4. The Knicks trailed by 12 points with just under eight minutes left in Game 6. NBA playoff bettors expect Knicks to fold in elimination Game 5 vs. Pacers
NBA playoff bettors expect Knicks to fold in elimination Game 5 vs. Pacers After watching the New York Knicks consistently struggle to get stops against the Indiana Pacers through the first four games of the Eastern Conference Finals, bettors are conceding defeat. They're done backing New York. The Knicks are 4.5-point favorites for Game 5 on Thursday, but with elimination staring New York in the face, the betting public is fading the home team harder than it has for any game this series. At BetMGM, 73 percent of bets and 74 percent of money on the spread is siding with Indiana. On the moneyline, 80 percent of bets and 74 percent of the money is on a Pacers win. This is a stark change of heart from the beginning of the series when 67 percent of the handle had New York advancing. Now, bettors aren't just closing the door on a 3-1 comeback for the Knicks, they aren't even giving New York a chance to send the series to a Game 6. That pessimism has trickled down into the prop market as well, where Jalen Brunson to score under 30.5 points is the most popular prop bet at BetMGM. Bettors also like Miles McBride to finish with under 1.5 3-pointers and Mikal Bridges to have under 25.5 points/rebounds/assists.

Foul-plagued Miles McBride provides late spark for Knicks in Game 3 vs. Pacers
INDIANAPOLIS — Miles McBride was on the court for 82 seconds, and he already had three fouls. The Knicks' valuable reserve spark plug sat from late in the first quarter until midway through the third, but he still had an impact on the Knicks' 106-100 come-from-behind win over the Pacers in Game 3. Knicks guard Miles McBride tries to pass the ball against Pacers forward Pascal Siakam during the second half of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final on Sunday in Indianapolis. AP 'Honestly, shoutout to my teammates, on the bench. Just talking to me and keeping me encouraged and keeping me locked in,' said McBride, who returned in the second half to contribute nine points. 'I just wanted to do everything I could to get out there. 'Obviously, you can't control certain things, but I wanted to make my impact.' McBride couldn't recall ever being slapped with three fouls in such a short span, joking 'maybe my rookie year, but nothing like that before.' The fourth-year guard checked into the game with 4:51 remaining in the first quarter, but by the 4:40 mark he already was whistled for two loose-ball fouls. He then fouled T.J. McConnell with 3:20 to go and was replaced by little-used veteran Delon Wright. 'Deuce picked up three fouls in [1:22], I don't know if I've ever seen that before,' coach Tom Thibodeau said. McBride didn't return to the game until there was 4:26 left in the third quarter with the Knicks trailing 74-59. But he scored seven straight points for the Knicks late in the quarter to bring them within nine. 'It's not easy to do, particularly when you go to the bench after a minute and then you've gotta still stay in the game mentally,' Thibodeau said. 'I thought his intensity was huge for us. He's a catalyst, his defense, his hustle, and I think it gives people energy when you see him flying around like that.'

Knicks' OG Anunoby's late-game gaffes spoil early heroics in fourth
OG Anunoby was enduring another of those quiet offensive games he produces now and again, when the Knicks defensive stopper appeared to nail two of the biggest shots of Game 1 against the Pacers, igniting a 14-0 Knicks run to help them build a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter. But Anunoby also contributed to the Knicks' complete meltdown in the crushing 138-135 overtime loss Wednesday night that left them and the hushed Garden shell-shocked. Anunoby was one of multiple Knicks to miss a key free throw in the closing minute of regulation and he also committed a turnover in OT to negate the thunderous chants of 'OG, OG' he had heard earlier in the fourth quarter from the MSG crowd. 'They made shots and we didn't. We made some mistakes, missed some free throws,' Anunoby said after the game. 'They made a bunch of shots in a row and we went a little bit cold at that time. It just happened like that.' With the Knicks clinging to a two-point lead about two minutes into the final quarter, Anunoby buried a 3-point shot and then sank a driving bucket in traffic on the Knicks' next possession to extend the cushion to seven. The MSG crowd followed with a loud chant in support of Anunoby, who only had totaled six points through the first three quarters before netting nine in the fourth and overtime to finish with 16 on 6-for-15 shooting in 42 minutes. Minutes later, led by some strong defensive plays by Miles McBride and a scoring burst by Karl-Anthony Towns, the Knicks were up 111-94 with under seven minutes remaining. But Aaron Nesmith did his best Reggie Miller impression with six 3-pointers and 20 points in the quarter to lead Indy all the way back, with Tyrese Haliburton sinking the game-tying jumper with his foot on the 3-point line at the end of regulation. Anunoby, who also finished with three steals and three blocked shots, added another layup in the fourth quarter before scoring two more points in the extra session. The loss dropped the Knicks to 2-5 in these playoffs when Anunoby scores fewer than 20 points in a game — including a 1-for-12 shooting performance in Game 5 in Boston — compared to a 6-0 mark when he registers at least 20. The 27-year-old Anunoby, who played collegiately at Indiana, was one of several Knicks regulars to miss games in last year's second-round loss to the Pacers. He suffered a painful hamstring injury in Game 2 and sat out the next four games. OG Anunoby defends against Pascal Siakam during the Knicks' Game 1 overtime loss to the Pacers. 'You can't really think about that,' Anunoby said. 'Just move forward and it's another opportunity. 'No one ever wants to not be healthy. It's part of the regular preparation I do. But also, a little bit of luck. And taking care of my body and eating right and eating well.'

Miles McBride provides Knicks another jolt in Game 6 — on both ends
At 6-foot-1, Miles McBride is not exactly known as a rim protector. Yet with just over five minutes left in the second quarter, there was McBride chasing down Derrick White on a fast break and emphatically blocking his shot off the backboard. Josh Hart corralled the rebound, raced down the other end of the floor and got an and-one. It sent the raucous Madison Square Garden crowd into a tizzy. He finished the Knicks' 119-81 Game 6 win over the Celtics — to close out the series — with 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting. And he seems to keep getting better — and more confident — the further the Knicks go. 3 Miles McBride of the New York Knicks blocks a shot during the second quarter. Jason Szenes / New York Post 'He doesn't shoot well every game,' coach Tom Thibodeau said. 'Nobody does. Just keep playing, trust your game, the work you put in. Defensively, the ball pressure is terrific. He plays fast and you can go on runs with him. And be a catalyst. That's what he does for us. Picks up full-court. If you're open, shoot. If you're guarded well, make a play for somebody else.' The Knicks depth has been a weakness all year, and Thibodeau has narrowed his rotation down to seven players in recent games. Mitchell Robinson's defense and rebounding off the bench are critical, but McBride represents their only reserve who can provide a scoring punch and spark. 3 Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks greets Miles McBride of the New York Knicks after McBride hits a 3-point shot during the second quarter. McBride is one of the Knicks' quickest players. When he is on the floor, the Knicks often play faster and are more aggressive in transition. Nobody plays faster than the Pacers, the Knicks' opponent in the Eastern Conference finals. McBride's role will only grow more important.
