7-year-old Ohio boy dead after falling out of moving vehicle
A 7-year-old died after he fell out of and was hit by a moving vehicle in Columbus Sunday afternoon.

Around 3:20 p.m. Sunday, a Ford Explorer was driving on East 5th Ave and was turning right when the passenger door opened and a 7-year-old boy fell out of the backseat, our news partners WBNS-10 TV reported.

After falling out, the boy was run over by the same vehicle.
He was taken to the Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead just before 4 p.m.
The circumstances surrounding the boy's fall from the vehicle are still under investigation, according to Columbus Division of Police Sgt. James Fuqua.
At this time, it is unclear if any charges will be filed against the driver for the incident, WBNS-10 TV reported.
The driver was arrested on charges unrelated to the boy's death, according to Fuqua.
'This is just a tragic thing and just a simple reminder for everyone who has young kids to always make sure that they're strapped in seatbelts and if you have child safety locks to utilize them,' Fuqua said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Columbus Division of Police.

‘She was cold to the touch'; Man says he tried to save 1-month-old baby found dead in hotel room
Neighbors said they found a 1-month-old baby girl unresponsive inside a DeKalb County hotel room on June 4. The baby's mother is facing charges. 'This is ridiculous for somebody to hurt a child like that,' the hotel maintenance worker told Channel 2's Audrey Washington. He asked his name not be used in the report. 'Help, help, my baby's not breathing,' one woman said she heard. The maintenance worker recounted how he and his partner tried to save the baby. 'She was doing CPR on the baby. The baby didn't look like it was alive and it was cold,' the maintenance worker said. Washington obtained exclusive video of the response effort. According to the criminal warrant, the 1-month-old baby girl had been dead for hours. She suffered a fractured skull and bruising to the face. The warrant also stated that inside the hotel room were two other children, a 7-year-old, and a 1-year-old. Stewart said the surviving children were in bad shape. 'They looked like they were homeless. They needed, you know needed help,' said Stewart. The mother of the children, 25-year-old Tamara Salter, is accused of leaving all three children alone. Salter is charged with felony murder, three counts of reckless conduct and child cruelty, authorities said. The maintenance worker said Salter left her children alone before. 'We gave her a warning then. We said, 'You cannot leave these kids alone. If you need help, ask for help,'' he said. 'Being a father, it's hard to see any child hurt, and that one, it was so little,' he said. It's still unclear how the baby got hurt. At last check, Salter is still in custody. Joseph McClarin and Covington Ofc. Hobbs received a call from the local CVS. McClarin and Hobbs met a couple facing more than just a difficult moment. 5 hurt as ambulance, police SUV crash blocks apart in Manchester
Five people were injured in nearly back-to-back crashes near Elliot Hospital involving an ambulance, a police SUV and two other cars Wednesday. An AMR ambulance and a Volvo wagon collided around 11:40 a.m. near the entrance to the hospital and the intersection of Tarrytown Road and Nelson Street, Manchester fire officials said. The ambulance was responding to a call when the collision caused the driver to lose control and the rig rolled over. Manchester Police said the ambulance was entering the intersection with its lights and siren activated when the accident happened. The two medics in the front seat of the ambulance were trapped inside, but fire crews helped them remove the front windshield so they could get out. They were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Police said the driver of the Volvo reported no injuries. While crews were working at that crash scene, a Ford Explorer driven by a Manchester Police officer collided with a Jeep Compass near the intersection of Valley and Jewett streets, just a few blocks over and near the other side of the Elliot. The Jeep rolled over and crews had to extricate the driver and a passenger who were trapped inside, fire officials said. Doors were removed from the driver's side of the Jeep. Police said the officer and the two occupants of the Jeep were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of the people involved were not released. Anyone who witnessed either accident is asked to call Manchester Police at 603-668-8711.
