Taylor Shumaker, Keagan Rothrock help Florida beat Georgia 5-2, advance to WCWS
No. 3 seed Florida (48-15) will make its second consecutive trip to the WCWS and its 13th since 2008.
Rothrock (16-6) gave up two runs — one earned — on four hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
Kendra Falby drew a lead-off walk in the first inning, stole second and then scored when Shumaker hit a single up the middle.
Ava Brown walked on four consecutive pitches to lead off the fifth inning and scored when Rylee Holtorf hit a two-out two-run homer. Falby followed with a bunt single before Shumaker hit the seventh pitch of the at-bat over the wall in right field to give the Gators a 5-0 lead.
Tyler Ellison reached on an error to lead off the seventh and Jaydyn Goodwin followed with a home run that made it 5-2.
The game was delayed about an hour in the middle of the fourth due to lightning in the area.
Georgia (35-23) beat the Gators 2-1 on Saturday to avoid elimination.

Howard Augustine Wheeler Jr. was born in 1938 in Belmont and gained his first major publicity job with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. He held several other positions after Firestone shut down its racing program in 1970 and was hired at Charlotte Motor Speedway by owner Bruton Smith as president in 1975. He became a transformative figure in promoting racing and was known as the 'P.T. Barnum of motorsports' for flashy pre-race stunts, elaborate productions and sparing no expense in ensuring fans had the most enjoyable experience possible at his events. Wheeler earlier this year was named winner of NASCAR's prestigious Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR, to which he'd have been inducted into the Hall of Fame next year. Three weeks and a day after he was acquired as his new team's shiny trade deadline toy, Bieber fever — Blue Jays style — is about to hit the big leagues. Article content That would be Shane Bieber, the right-handed starter and former Cy Young Award winner, who is scheduled to make his Jays debut on Friday night in Miami. Article content Article content It's a highly anticipated date for all parties, starting with Bieber who returns to a big-league mound for the first time since April 2, 2024. In the ensuing months, the former Cleveland Guardian has gone down the long and excruciating journey of rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, always with the eye of resuming a career at the highest level. Article content 'That's what it's all about,' Bieber said earlier this month on his first visit to the Rogers Centre as a Blue Jay. 'That's what you play for. I'm definitely feeling excited and fresh.' Article content For the Jays, the stakes feel just as high. Article content It's the first real look at a player acquired to give the team a huge boost, not just for the final month of the season but with the idea of extending a season well into October. And it's clear that all signs emanating from Bieber's rebuilt right arm have further fuelled the optimism. Article content 'I think it just obviously raises the floor, but it really raises the ceiling, if he's what we think he can be,' manager John Schneider said recently of Bieber's potential impact. NYON, Switzerland (AP) — UEFA fined Polish club Rakow Czestochowa 10,000 euros ($11,600) on Thursday after fans displayed a far-right political banner at a game against Maccabi Haifa. European soccer's ruling body announced the verdict over a charge against Rakow of 'transmitting a message not fit for a sports event' at the Europa Conference League qualifying game last week, adding that its investigation continues into a separate incident involving Maccabi supporters. Diplomats from Poland and Israel criticized Maccabi fans last week for displaying a banner that said 'Murderers since 1939' in English. One week earlier, at the first-leg game in Poland, Rakow supporters had shown a banner in Polish alleging Israel was killing people and the world was silent. Rakow continues to play in the Conference League — hosting Bulgarian side Arda later Thursday in the first leg of the qualifying playoffs round — after eliminating Maccabi 2-1 on aggregate. Rakow also was fined 30,000 euros ($34,800) by UEFA for fans lighting fireworks at the second-leg game Maccabi hosted in neutral Hungary. A one-game ban on Rakow selling tickets for an away game in a UEFA competition was suspended for a two-year probationary period.
