Where Wisconsin star John Tonje lands in latest ESPN projection, one week before NBA draft
With just one week remaining until the 2025 NBA draft, ESPN still sees Wisconsin star John Tonje as a mid-second-round selection.
The outlet released its latest two-round mock draft on Tuesday. The mock specifically slotted Tonje at No. 42 overall to the Sacramento Kings.
While the All-American wing still appears far from cracking next Wednesday's first round, his draft stock has risen since the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. Tonje went off the board at No. 48 in ESPN's initial post-combine projection in mid-May. He has since had several notable pre-draft workouts, including one with the Kings. At the same time, his draft stock is trending toward the top 40.
The former Badger is looking to stick on an NBA roster after experiencing a dramatic rise during his one year with the Badgers. After joining the program as the No. 296-ranked transfer in the 2024 cycle, the 6-foot-5 wing went on to average 19.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, leading it to a strong 27-10 record. The former Missouri and Colorado State transfer importantly showed out in the team's biggest games. That included a 41-point performance in a win over then-No. 9 Arizona, 33 in a Thanksgiving tournament win over Pitt, 32 in a statement win at No. 7 Purdue, 31 in a dominant home win over Illinois, 32 in a Big Ten Tournament win over Michigan State and, finally, 37 in the team's NCAA Tournament loss to BYU.
For more on what to look for during next week's two-day event, here are Tonje's five best landing spots.
The 2025 NBA draft begins with the first round on Wednesday night, broadcast on ABC and ESPN. The second round, when Tonje is likely to be selected, will begin on Thursday, June 26, at 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. CT., broadcast exclusively on ESPN.

Boston Celtics jersey history No. 21 - Gary Philips (1961-62)

The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. Advertisement With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover. After ending his college career at Houston, Phillips was picked up with the ninth overall selection of the 1961 NBA draft by the Celtics. The Quincy, Illinois native would play the first season of his pro career with Boston before he was dealt to the (then) San Francisco (now, Golden State) Warriors in 1962. During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Phillips wore only jersey No. 21 and put up 4.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.
