LOVE BITES by Mahmoud Zain to Premiere at Aswan International Women Film Festival
It stars famous Egyptian actor Sedky Sakhr and will have its world premiere at the Aswan International Women's Film Festival, where it proudly stands as the only Egyptian film in the official competition.
The film follows two brothers, Zaher and Murad, who find themselves in conflict over how to perform the ritual washing and shrouding of their deceased sister, Hayam, after discovering love bites on her body.
Fearing a scandal as well-wishers and mourners begin to arrive outside, the two brothers and their wives must make a decision that may affect the entire family.
The film stars the well-known Egyptian actor Sedky Sakhr, who commented on his involvement in the film, saying, "What inspired me to be part of this film is its bold subject matter and its approach to the issue from a different perspective. Its participation in a festival dedicated to films about women is a testament to its support for women's causes, as well as the film's strong impact and high artistic value."
In addition to Sedky Sakhr, the cast includes Mahmoud Zain, Sohila Alanwar, Nadia Hassan, Mahmoud Yehia, Sara Alaaeldin, and Rowan Alaa Eldin. It was shot by cinematographer Moamen Alameldin and edited by Mohamed Mamdouh.
Ali Soliman was the executive producer, and the art director was Mohamed Osama Hassan. Ramy Magdy recorded the sound, with sound design and mix by Amr Soliman. The colorist was Tarek Abdelkader.

"W Tuqabil Habib" consists of 30 episodes and witnessed Abdelaziz's comeback to the Ramadan marathon after two years of absence. It also marked Abdelaziz and Fahmy's second collaboration after the 2020 TV series "We Nehib Tani Leh". The drama also reunited Abdelaziz with scriptwriter Amr Mahmoud Yassin for the third time. They previously worked together on the 2020 TV series "We Nehib Tani Leh" and the 2021 TV series "Elly Malosh Kbeer". "W Tuqabil Habib" is directed by Mohamed Al-Khabiri and produced by Synergy Production. Abdelaziz, born on January 16, 1980, is an Egyptian actress and former model. She enrolled in the Modern Academy in Maadi and made her debut at the age of 13 in commercials, which paved the road to her true calling, acting. Thereafter, Abdelaziz was nominated for roles in cinematic and television productions. The festival celebrates the legacy of Salah Jahin, selecting the poet, lyricist, and cartoonist as its 2025 Personality of the Year. Aug 18, 2025 The Cairo International Arab Children Festival has announced that its upcoming third edition in November will honour the late poet, lyricist, and cartoonist Salah Jahin as this year's 'Personality of the Year'. The announcement, made by the festival's founder and chair Dr. Dalia Hammam, emphasised Jahin's lasting impact on the imaginations and values of young Arab audiences. Dr. Hammam highlighted how Jahin's work, as a poet, lyricist, playwright, and cartoonist, struck a rare balance between playfulness and depth. 'Jahin offered children works rich in joy and knowledge,' she added, pointing to his unique ability to engage young hearts without compromising artistic integrity. Salah Jahin, born in 1930, is widely regarded as one of Egypt's most influential poets, lyricists, and cartoonists. His work spans children's literature, theatre, and television, with a legacy that includes beloved puppet operettas and songs that have become part of Egyptian cultural memory. The Cairo International Children's Art Festival kicks off its third edition on Tuesday, August 12th 2025, at Cairo Opera House.

Russia Backs Egypt's Candidate Khaled El-Anany for UNESCO Director-General Post
Nada Mustafa Alexander Alimov, Director of Department for Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations at the Russian Foreign Ministry and Executive Secretary of the Russian Commission for UNESCO, said on Sunday that Russia hopes to see Egyptian candidate Khaled El-Anany assume the role of UNESCO Director-General in 2025. According to Russia's Sputnik News Agency, Alimov stated: 'We certainly expect the new Director-General to be Egypt's candidate.' He also stressed that, with the upcoming leadership change, Russia hopes UNESCO's Secretariat will 'return to neutral and unbiased work.' A new Director-General will be elected in the fall of 2025 during UNESCO's General Conference, succeeding French incumbent Audrey Azoulay.
