BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Charles Leclerc snatched a surprise first pole position of the year for Ferrari at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday, beating both McLarens.
Leclerc punched the air in delight as he climbed out of the car after beating Oscar Piastri by 0.026 of a second and the other McLaren of Lando Norris by .041.
Defending champion Max Verstappen was only eighth after struggling with the balance of his Red Bull, while Lewis Hamilton was 12th for Ferrari.

Arsenal express interest in Rennes' Jérémy Jacquet

Jérméy Jacquet (20) has made big strides in the past 12 months. This time last year, he was embarking on a loan at Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot. However, his performances in the second division, coupled with Stade Rennais' defensive frailties, saw the centre-back recalled by his parent club in January. He then went on to establish himself as a starter under new manager Habib Beye in the second half of the season as Rennes dragged themselves out of relegation trouble. His performances have been rewarded with a new deal, which now runs until the summer of 2029. His 11 appearances in Ligue 1 were also enough for him to earn a spot in France's U21 side for this summer's European Championships. Fabrizio Romano now understands that Arsenal are interested in the Frenchman, should there be departures in the defensive department in the coming months. The Premier League side have made initial contact to express their interest. Jacquet could also be an option for Arsenal next summer. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Report – AFCON Absence A Factor In Inter Milan Valuation Of Atalanta Talisman

An absence for AFCON next season is one factor in Inter Milan's valuation of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. This according to today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. The status of Inter Milan's pursuit of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman is still up in the air. It's been a couple days since La Dea's bombshell rejection of Inter's second offer for the Nigerian. They turned down a bid of €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons. And Inter are still mulling over whether to return with another improved bid. AFCON Absence A Factor In Inter Valuation Of Ademola Lookman BERGAMO, ITALY – JANUARY 21: Ademola Lookman of Atalanta celebrates scoring his team's fourth goal during the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD7 match between Atalanta BC and SK Sturm Graz at Stadio di Bergamo on January 21, 2025 in Bergamo, Italy. (Photo by) Inter could still tack another few million euros onto their offer for Lookman, of course. However, as Tuttosport note, there could be one particular factor that pushes the Nerazzurri against going much higher with their offer. Lookman is a regular starter for Nigeria. And the Super Eagles will be in action at the African Cup of Nations next season. The tournament starts in mid-December. And it runs until the 18th of next January. Therefore, there would be the prospect of Lookman missing as many as six Serie A matches for Inter while the tournament is taking place, should Nigeria reach the final. At the very least, Lookman will be absent for a few matches. Furthermore, there is also the disruption that comes from travel. Therefore, Tuttosport report, Inter may be reluctant to spend too much on a deal for a player who will have this absence in midseason.

Borussia Dortmund & Germany Star Joins Chelsea & RB Leipzig Forwards On Inter Milan List Of Backup Targets For Ademola Lookman

Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has come onto Inter Milan's list of targets in attack if they're unable to sign Ademola Lookman. This according to today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. Inter Milan's pursuit of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has certainly been encountering difficulties. The Nerazuzrri have had two offers rejected for the 27-year-old Nigerian international. And they are not sure how much higher they'll have to go after La Dea turned down €45 million including add-ons. Therefore, Inter are looking around at other possible targets to bolster their attack if they're unable to sign Lookman. (Photo by) There are a number of targets to have already been reported. These include Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku, RB Leipzig's Lois Openda, and Monaco's Eliesse Ben Seghir. However, Tuttosport report, there is another name that has come up on Inter's radar. The Nerazzurri had already targeted Karim Adeyemi when he was at Red Bull Salzburg. The German international has been playing for Borussia Dortmund for a few years now. And according to Tuttosport, Inter are considering the possibility of a move for Adeyemi if they can't secure Lookman.
