Snow showers return Saturday, but drier and much warmer weather expected Sunday
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Friday Utah! A few scattered flurries are still moving through the region this afternoon, but overall drier conditions are expected for now.
A quick-moving wave will move into the Beehive state late Friday night into Saturday, bringing another round of light snow showers. This system will not be as strong or impressive as our prior storm, but anything that does fall, should be in the form of snow. Highs on Saturday will be in the lower 40s north, and mid 50s south. The best chance for precipitation with this system will be some rain showers and some rumbles Friday evening and night in St. George, otherwise mainly a north and central event during the day Saturday.
We will be in between storm systems Sunday into Monday, but look for gusty south winds to return to the state. Highs on Sunday will be near 60, with highs in southern Utah climbing into the mid 60s.

Monday will feature increasing clouds with highs climbing into the low 60s along the Wasatch Front, with highs in the low 70 across southwest Utah.
The warmth and dryness will not last long, as our next storm system arrives on Tuesday bringing another big cooldown, and the chance for valley rain changing to snow into Tuesday night, along with rain showers returning to southern Utah.
Overall, the active and cooler pattern will continue through most of next week with another system possible late next week. Be sure to stay with your 4Warn Weather team for updates.

Early summer heatwave settles in with a few afternoon thunderstorms
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4) – Happy Monday, Utah! It's shaping up to be a hot start to the week across Utah and as high pressure settles in overhead. Temperatures are already running above normal, and you can expect things to heat up even more heading into midweek. We're talking sunshine, very warm afternoons, and that classic summer feel…especially across northern Utah where temps will rise a few more degrees today. Daytime highs will climb to around 90 degrees along the Wasatch Front, and triple-digit heat for St. George. That said, it's not completely dry out there. There's still some lingering moisture hanging around, and that means we can't rule out a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms, especially over the higher terrain. These storms won't be widespread, but they'll be the kind that bubble up with daytime heating, toss out a few gusty outflow winds, and then fizzle once the sun starts to dip. By midweek, the ridge remains in control, but a weak low nearby could stir up a bit more action in the skies. Look for another round of high-based storms that might stretch beyond the mountains and drift into the surrounding valleys late Tuesday and Wednesday. Again, they won't bring much rain…but they could kick up some wind. Looking beyond midweek, things really dry out. A broader pattern shift will usher in hot and breezy southwesterly flow across the region, especially from Thursday into the weekend. That means we'll need to keep a close watch on fire danger—conditions are looking ripe for critical fire weather, especially in central and southern Utah. BREAKING: Lightning caused fire burning near Duchesne
This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available. DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A new lightning-caused was reported to be burning south of Duchesne early Sunday evening. According to Utah Fire Info, the Sterling Fire is lightning-caused and is burning in the Ashley National Forest, approximately 22 miles south of Duchesne. The fire is currently estimated at 7 to 10 acres in size. Utah Fire Info reports the fire is currently burning in steep, inaccessible terrain. Two hotshot crews and aviations are currently on scene to help fight the fire. Warmup on the way, with a few southern storms in the mix
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Sunday, Utah! Summer vibes are settling in across Utah as high pressure builds in, continuing a warming trend that's set to carry us through early in the week. Daytime highs are on the rise, expect upper 80s to low 90s across most valleys, and close to 100° down in St. George this afternoon. We're still hanging onto just enough leftover moisture to spark a few isolated afternoon showers and storms, especially across southern Utah. These will be hit-or-miss and mostly short-lived, fading quickly once the sun goes down. Monday looks similar, though a weak disturbance could bring gusty outflow winds with any southern mountain storms. Looking ahead to midweek, moisture starts to creep back in thanks to a passing weather system. Storm chances pick up a bit across the higher terrain on Tuesday, and northern Utah could see a slight chance on Wednesday as that system brushes by. It's not looking like much for the valleys at this point, mainly cloudy cover and a slight chance of an isolated storm. By the end of the week, another disturbance could stir up more activity, but the details are still hazy. One thing's for sure… the heat is on, and we're heading into a stretch where fire weather could become a concern, especially in southwest Utah as winds ramp up throughout the week. Stay tuned.
