Disgusting moment passenger picks dirt from underneath his partner's TOENAILS on flight from Tenerife

Daily Mail5 days ago
Some of the generally accepted rules of plane etiquette include not taking off your shoes and not invading other passengers space.
But one horrified easyJet passenger caught a couple breaking both rules after she saw a man 'picking dirt from under his partner's toenails' during a flight.
Erin Butcher was flying home from a seven-day family holiday in Tenerife but was shocked to notice a woman's bare feet propped up on a tray table.
The 27-year-old was then left 'disgusted' after she noticed a man appearing to pick at her French pedicure toenails before 'flicking bits of dirt' to the floor and over the seats.
Ms Butcher claims the couple did this for 20 minutes, while other passengers laughed nervously in confusion.
The fashion merchandiser shared footage of the stomach-churning moment with the caption 'Nothing beats an easyJet flight. Hope no one ate off this tray table on the next flight'.
The clip was shared on TikTok on Thursday and has since gone viral, racking up more than 336,200 views.
Sickened, Ms Butcher said the sight was 'unhygienic' and made for a 'depressing' end to her holiday in August 2024.
Ms Butcher, from Southwark, south east London, said: 'I felt so disgusted and I couldn't believe it.
'The partner was sprawled across the seats with her feet on the tray table, which was shocking enough.
'Her partner then started picking at her toenails and flicking little bits [of dirt] everywhere. It was disgusting.
'I was absolutely horrified. I was with my family and none of us could actually believe what was happening.
'Even to do that in the privacy of your own home is questionable but to put them on a tray table where people are eating off all day.
'I was relieved I wasn't sitting next to them. I had the perfect view from my aisle seat which is horrifying. I couldn't really take my eyes off even though I wanted to.
'Her feet were on that table the majority of the four-and-a-half-hour flight. She was really making herself at home. It's so unhygienic.
'Other passengers around us had noticed as well. Everyone was laughing and it was quite unbelievable.
'As if things aren't depressing enough when your week in the sun has just ended and you're faced with toe picking the whole way home.'
Many users took to the comments to express their disgust.
One user wrote: 'Totally gross,; while another commented: 'That's disgusting anywhere.'
A third user wrote: 'Save it for later' and a fourth user wrote: 'Why on earth?'
EasyJet has been approached for a comment.

EasyJet issues update after flight to Manchester forced to divert to Paris

An easyJet flight from Heraklion, Crete, was due to arrive at Manchester Airport this afternoon but alarmed passengers ended up in Paris due to an emergency 'technical issue' Passengers on a flight bound for Manchester were left fearing they 'weren't going to land' after an unexpected diversion to Paris due to a 'technical issue'. ‌ The easyJet service from Heraklion in Crete was scheduled to touch down at Manchester Airport this afternoon (August 6), but instead found itself in the French capital. This followed the flight crew issuing a 'Squawk 7700' alert, signalling an onboard emergency. While the airline cited a 'technical issue', passengers reported being informed of a problem with the 'hydraulics'. ‌ Debbie Manley, a passenger on the delayed flight returning from the Greek island, said that there were concerns about landing after hearing some ' weird noises' on the aircraft prior to take-off. It comes after police shame British drugs mules by making them pose for photos with suitcases. ‌ She said: "We're on the flight, everything was going normally. But there were some weird noises before we took off," reports the Manchester Evening News. It comes after a 'traumatised' family were stranded at Palma Airport after being told they can't board a Jet2 flight. ‌ "People were talking about these weird noises and we were delayed taking off. Then they announced we were being diverted. They said it was nothing to worry about, it's just hydraulics. It's just a routine check." Other passengers on the flight reported seeing at least six fire engines on the runway when the plane landed in Paris. Debbie, a Manchester resident, added that police officers boarded the plane after passengers disembarked from the aircraft. ‌ She revealed: "We were on the runway for an hour, then we were waiting for the buses. There were still people pointing at the plane and lots of flashing lights. After we got off, it looked like there were three French policemen on the plane." In a recent update on the easyJet website, the airline confirmed that the 'technical issue' with the plane could not be resolved by engineers. The airline is now dispatching a new plane from London Luton Airport to Paris Charles de Gaulle to transport passengers back to Manchester. A spokesperson for easyJet stated: "Flight EZY2058 from Heraklion to Manchester has diverted to Paris Charles de Gaulle due to a technical issue. We are arranging for a replacement aircraft to continue the flight to Manchester as soon as possible this evening and providing customers with refreshments in the terminal. "We would like to thank customers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused by the delay to their journey. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priority and the airline operates its aircraft in strict compliance with manufacturer guidelines."

Family fume over 'horrendous' hotel with 'cockroaches' and 'yellow water' in holiday hell

The family had "10 quality nights" before everything went wrong. A fuming family have told how their relaxing break turned into a holiday from hell as they were met with insect and cockroach infestations and yellow water - after their scheduled flight was cancelled. William White and his family endured "the most horrendous room and conditions" during their easyJet package holiday. ‌ William, his wife and two children had headed to the Mallorcan town of Alcudia and had "10 quality nights" on their break. But disaster struck when they were due to return home, with their flight being cancelled after being delayed several times - before the family was told to head back to Alcudia stay for one more night, The Mirror reports. ‌ William, from Carnmoney in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, said they were advised by easyJet to travel from the airport back to Alcudia for a one-night stay at accommodation organised by the travel company. But the family say they were greeted with "a smell worse than an old people's home", insects, holes in the wall and "yellow water from the taps". ‌ William, 40, said: "We departed Belfast on July 25 and spent 10 quality nights in Viva Sunrise. We were due to fly back on the fourth of August [Monday]. We arrived in the airport and checked in our luggage at 3.30pm." He revealed there was "no update on the boards in the airport" but online updates indicated delays due to a technical issue. He mentioned "rumblings" began among the Belfast travellers after their flight vanished from the flight boards, and around 8pm an email arrived, followed by another confirming the flight had been cancelled. "All the passengers were ringing easyJet for help," William said. "But there were no reps based in the departure area of the airport and the ground crew didn't know anything." ‌ Eventually, William and his family were booked on to a flight from Palma to London Luton on Wednesday 6, with a four-hour stop before the flight to Belfast. In the meantime, he and his family went back through security and managed to retrieve their luggage. At 10.30pm, they received another email with details of accommodation for the night, reports Belfast Live. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! "We went on to TripAdvisor to check and seen that it had diabolical reviews but it had been long and stressful day but not much we could do at that point with no direction from anyone," William said. "We spoke to the easyJet rep and she said we should pay for taxi, which was €140 so we refused. At the last minute they put us on a bus to Alcudia. ‌ "We arrived at around 1:30am. It was a huge complex and they said we had a one night stay booked. We explained the situation but they insisted it was one night only and that we had to come back in the morning." He revealed their room was a "20 minute walk from reception - in the dark on a busy road, with our suitcases and two children. "Cars were speeding past and there were no lights, so I had to use my phone light." He continued: "When we arrived, we were greeted with the most horrendous room and conditions – mites, yellow water from the taps, cockroaches, holes punched in the wall, wardrobe doors hanging off, a smell worse than an old people's home and decor and furniture from the 1960s. "Oh, and no working air-con." The family contacted easyJet once more to describe the appalling state of their accommodation, but were informed they couldn't relocate the family that evening. After hearing this news, Mr White said he made the "trek" back to reception, who eventually agreed to relocate them. ‌ The replacement room was "more up to date", William explained, but was regrettably "located beside the main entrance to the entire complex with drunk people arriving home and children out playing at 4am". That accommodation also had no air conditioning, he said. He added: "It was so warm you could cook Sunday dinner in it." The family managed to get roughly four hours of sleep, before being told they would be relocated once again. After another journey, which William said lasted "around 25 minutes" carrying their four suitcases and two children, they reached the fresh hotel. Speaking to Belfast Live William said: "At least it's clean." When asked what response he would like from easyJet after their nightmare experience, he said: "I don't know, maybe fair compensation - whatever that might be." The Mirror has approached easyJet for comment.
