It is hoped the new stadium will be completed in 2027 [Cumberland Council]
Plans for a new football and rugby stadium are to go on show for three weeks.
If approved, Cumberland Sports Village, in Workington, will have capacity for 3,700 fans and existing football stands will be replaced.

Work is due to start early next year, subject to planning permission, and completed by late summer 2027.
Dave Bowden, spokesman for Cumberland Sports Village, said he looked forward to "making the project a reality".
The stadium will also have capacity for 2,700 seated and 1,000 standing fans.
The West Stand, the stadium's main structure, will provide seating for up to 1,000 people with wheelchair viewing spaces.
The new facility will also include a function suite, executive boxes and a sports bar.
The East Stand and the South Stand will be replaced with covered spaces for about 2,000 fans in total.

The new North Stand Terrace will remain uncovered.
A new 3G pitch will also replace the existing turf playing surface.
Scaled back plans
Plans for the stadium have been in the works for more than five years and have been scaled back from an initial design for 8,000 fans.
After the now-defunct Allerdale Borough Council dropped the project, the region missed out on hosting a Rugby League World Cup match because it did not have a suitable stadium.
A planning application is expected to be submitted by the end of the month.
The plans will be display from Monday until 25 July at Borough Park, Derwent Park and Workington Library.

Public events are also being held at the Carnegie Theatre & Arts Centre in Workington on 9 and 16 July.

Nottingham Forest assistant Rui Barbosa needs stitches after celebrating in Brentford win

Nottingham Forest coach Rui Barbosa required six stitches in a head wound after celebrating the club's opening goal of the season too enthusiastically at the City Ground. When Chris Wood put Forest in front after just five minutes during the 3-1 win over Brentford, with a delicate finish, lifted inside the far post following an Elliot Anderson corner, the goalkeeper coach banged his head on the home dugout. Advertisement Fortunately, the club's medical staff were on hand to help repair the wound. 'He has six stitches! It was a nasty one. A bad one. He was dizzy,' head coach Nuno Espirito Santo said in the aftermath of an impressive win for his side, their first opening-day victory in eight attempts. After £35million ($47.4m) signing Dan Ndoye had marked his debut with a spectacular diving header, Wood added a second late in the first half. Igor Thiago pulled one back for Brentford late on, converting a penalty given after Ibrahim Sangare had handled the ball in the penalty area. 'I am delighted. The way we started the game was amazing. We played good, we dominated, we controlled … the goal in the first five minutes settled the team and the energy of the stadium,' said Nuno. 'With the exception of a moment before the third goal, we did not allow Brentford too many things.' It was Forest's first opening day win since a 1-0 success over Millwall in 2017. Timed at exactly 05:00, Wood's goal was Forest's earliest ever opening-day goal in the Premier League. He is also only the third player to score twice in the club's opening game of a season in the competition, after Bryan Roy against Southampton in 1995-96 (2) and Kevin Campbell against Coventry in 1996-97. A tricky winger showed exactly what Manchester City missed last season

Oscar Bobb appeared poised to play a prominent role for Manchester City last season. But the Norwegian international suffered a fractured leg on the eve of the 24/25 season. From there, Bobb's season was wrecked, and he never got a run at it. As Manchester City kicked off their 25/26 Premier League campaign with a 4-nil win over Wolves yesterday, Oscar Bobb showed exactly what his team missed out on last season. Based on his dazzling performance at Molineux, Bobb could be set to play a prominent role on the right wing for Pep Guardiola's side. Oscar Bobb played a key role for Manchester City in their win at Molineux. When the Manchester City starting lineup was announced, it was exciting to see Oscar Bobb starting on the right wing. Bobb is highly regarded by Pep Guardiola and his teammates. It didn't take him long to make an impact. Bobb's dribbling and movement stood out in the first half. At times, he mesmerised the Wolves defence. Bobb's pressing out of possession was also a key component of his play, and it helped set up Manchester City's second goal of the game. Bobb dispossessed Andre, then made a surging run at the Wolves defence. He calmly slipped in Tijjani Reijnders, who made it 2-nil with a quality finish. That play showed exactly what Bobb adds to Pep Guardiola's side. Yesterday's match opened up more in the second half, as Vitor Pereira's side chased the game, there was more space for the Manchester City attack to operate in. It was this space that Oscar Bobb and Tijjani Reijnders exploited to set up Erling Haaland for Manchester City's third goal of the game. Bobb was at the heart of the move and his close control and neat passing set Reijnders free to tee up Haaland. Haaland did the rest and it was game over. Bobb could be Manchester City's preferred player for the right wing role as the season progresses. Oscar Bobb's performance yesterday was full of promise. The Norwegian international understands the nuances of Manchester City's play and there is no reason why he cannot make the right wing role his own this season. He has the talent to do so. His performance yesterday was sparkling and showed what City missed so dearly last season.

Man United: Ruben Amorim explains Onana's absence against Arsenal

André Onana Before the Premier League showdown between Manchester United and Arsenal, Red Devils coach Ruben Amorim spoke out about André Onana's absence. This Sunday, André Onana is not in the Manchester United squad for their first big clash of the season against Arsenal in the Premier League. The Cameroonian goalkeeper was deemed not quite ready to return to action. Ahead of the encounter with the Gunners, Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim explained his decision to leave Onana out. "He's not injured, he's recovered… but the other players worked well during pre-season, so I have to find a balance. Next week, it'll be a different story. This week, we chose these players." the coach stated. A tactical decision, then.
