5-star Oregon football QB target Ryder Lyons receives new prediction ahead of commitment
The Oregon Ducks have been working hard to land a 5-star passer in the class of 2026, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen at this point.
While Jared Curtis chose the Georgia Bulldogs over the Ducks earlier this spring, the focus shifted to 5-star QB Ryder Lyons for Dan Lanning and his staff. After being considered the favorites for quite a while, it appears that Lyons, the No. 14 player and No. 4 QB in the class, is likely to end up elsewhere.
According to new recruiting predictions from On3's Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos, Lyons is likely going to choose the BYU Cougars on Tuesday when he announces his commitment.
While Lyons is a member of the 2026 class, he is expected to take an LDS mission out of high school, which will delay his enrollment until 2027. Because of this, Oregon was also recruiting a couple of other QB prospects in the 2026 class, like Bryson Beaver and Matt Ponotoski.
Both players were on campus for their official visits this past weekend, and Oregon is projected to be right at the top of their lists when it comes to a commitment. We will see where the Ducks go with the 2026 QB spot down the road, but missing out on an elite player like Lyons is unfortunate.

The Longhorns are currently hosting several of the nations top recruits for a big recruiting weekend on the Forty Acres. Over the last two days, Texas added two new players to its 2026 recruiting class. Advertisement The latest came on Sunday when five-star EDGE Richard Wesley announced his commitment to Texas via social media. Wesley is ranked the No. 4 edge in the nation and No. 5 overall prospect in California for the 2026 cycle, according to On3's industry ranking. "This is for you mom. 10000% committed," Wesley said. In 2024, Wesley was named a MaxPreps Sophomore All-American. He compiled 44 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and three forced fumbles for Sierra Canyon High School. The Chatsworth, California, native was originally committed to Oregon but announced his decommitment on May 27. Wesley then took an official visit to Texas on June 20 and committed to the Longhorns just two days later. Undrafted to unstoppable: Former Texas A&M guard helps lead Thunder to NBA glory
It is difficult to argue that there are players on the Oklahoma City Thunder roster more deserving than former Texas A&M guard Alex Caruso. The two-time National Basketball Association champion's contributions to the Thunder have played a key role in bringing home the first championship in franchise history to Oklahoma City. Caruso is selfless, unique and dependable among other things. As a result of his hard work on and off the court to become the best player and teammate possible, he is also undoubtedly a champion. "I think just through my career, I figured out that I can do stuff that's not necessarily sexy or not necessarily the mainstream offensive or even defensive skill set that people recognize," Caruso said, according to Kelly Iko of The Athletic. "I just leaned into it. I practiced being great at the stuff that nobody else does, carving a role for myself in the league. I think through the years, I've just kind of perfected that stuff." The College Station native played his collegiate ball with the hometown Aggies from 2012-2016, in which he racked up numerous accolades throughout his time in the Maroon and White uniform. Caruso was named the Southeastern Conference's Defensive Player of the Year by CBS Sports during his senior campaign. Following an outstanding college career, he signed with the Thunder as an undrafted free agent but was later waived by the team. After a stint with the team's G-League affiliate, Caruso's performances during the 2017 NBA Summer League with the Los Angeles Lakers earned him the franchise's first two-way contract, to become the first player to go from the G-League to the NBA. Fast forward three years, Caruso hoisted the 2020 NBA Championship trophy with teammates LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Kyle Kuzma and many more. In 2025, he's now contributed and earned the right to be called champion once again. That also means that everyone can stop undermining his championship victory with the Lakers in 2020. Caruso expressed his feelings on the Thunder's victory over the Indiana Pacers and joked about his new "real" trophy following his second NBA title. While he made NBA history by recording the most steals by any bench player in the Finals (17), he also set a Texas A&M record by joining Walter "Buddy" Davis as the only Aggies with multiple NBA titles. When the hard work was complete, it took a veteran like Caruso to teach OKC's rookies how to pop the bottles of champagne and celebrate as champions should. Make no mistake about it, Caruso's success was well-earned. It comes from being unique in his game and constantly honing his craft. Working on the small details has become his specialty, but winning championships seems to be in his skill set as well. Flyers set to acquire Trevor Zegras in trade with Ducks
The post Flyers set to acquire Trevor Zegras in trade with Ducks appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Philadelphia Flyers missed out on the playoffs by a wide margin this season, but they are now making big moves to ensure that doesn't happen again in 2025-26. On Monday, the Flyers made a huge move to acquire star forward Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks in a blockbuster trade, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Advertisement In return, the Ducks will get center Ryan Poehling and a pair of draft picks, including the 45th overall pick in this summer's draft. Zegras is an extremely talented offensive player when he is healthy and will immediately give the Flyers some punch on that end of the ice. Injuries have cut each of his last two seasons short, but he recorded 186 points in 268 career games in Anaheim. A change of scenery could do some good for Zegras, who has not been on a competitive team during his career. He has never played in a playoff game, and while the Flyers were also far away from postseason status a year ago, moves like this one show that they are committed to building a winner and a contender in the near future. Zegras helps the outlook of the Flyers in the present, but he also should be around for the future as well. The former top 10 pick is just 24 years old, so he still has plenty of time to improve and is not yet in the prime of his career. Advertisement The next step after this move is getting Zegras locked up in Philadelphia with a new contract extension for a long time. He is under contract next season on a $5.75 million bargain, but is slated to be a restricted free agent next summer. After making such a big swing to get him in the building, getting a new deal done with Zegras will certainly be priority No. 1 for the Flyers. If they can get that done, this has a chance to be a home run deal for Philadelphia. Zegras comes with his injury concerns, but he has a chance to develop into an elite offensive player that can anchor this Flyers squad into the future.
