Nation's No. 1 QB Reacts To 5-Star Wide Receiver's Visit To Georgia

Nation's No. 1 QB Reacts To 5-Star Wide Receiver's Visit To Georgia originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Georgia is hosting one of the top wide receivers in the country this weekend in hopes for a talented pairing with five-star quarterback commit Jared Curtis. Advertisement Head coach Kirby Smart's biggest recruiting win of the 2026 cycle came when Curtis pledged to the Bulldogs on May 5. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound passer was previously committed to UGA last fall before re-opening his recruitment. Curtis, the top quarterback in the country, was down to Georgia and Oregon before making his latest decision. With Curtis in the fold, attention turns to adding him some weapons. Georgia does have three four-star wide receivers committed to date, but that group would instantly be bolstered by five-star Cederian Morgan. Cederian Morgan, Class of 2026 wide receiver of Benjamin Russell High school in Alexander City, AlabamaKen Ruinard - staff / USA TODAY NETWORK Morgan (6-foot-4, 210 pounds) plays for Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, Alabama. He ranks as the No. 2 wide receiver, the top player in the state and the No. 11 recruit in the 2026 class (On3). Advertisement Home-state SEC power Alabama is projected to land the highly-coveted receiver. However, Georgia is making a push and hosting Morgan this weekend along with multiple elite recruits. After Morgan confirmed his official visit with a post on X, Curtis reacted with a post of his own. Morgan posted 70 catches for 1,162 yards and 14 TD as a junior in 2024. The multi-sport athlete also averaged 14.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game on the hardwood. Morgan has official visits scheduled to Florida (June 6), Auburn (June 13) and Alabama (June 20) before announcing his commitment on July 2. The No. 1 Quarterback Sends Strong Message During Big Georgia Weekend

The No. 1 Quarterback Sends Strong Message During Big Georgia Weekend originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Georgia Bulldogs were successful in recruiting the No. 1 quarterback, Jared Curtis, from the Class of 2026 this May. He had committed to UGA back in March 2024 but reopened his recruitment later in October. Advertisement Since joining, Curtis has been a great driving force behind head coach Kirby Smart's recruiting efforts. During a big recruiting weekend for Georgia, he sent a strong message to his fellow prospects. "Everyone at Georgia this weekend for the OV… make the right choice! Go dawgs 🐶🐶" he posted on X Hailing from the Nashville Christian High School, Curtis led the school to a 12-1 record and a Tennessee Division II-A state championship, the school's first in nine years. He completed 179 of 255 passes for 2,830 yards with 40 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Curtis also showcased dual-threat capability, carrying the ball 88 times for 637 yards and 18 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Craig Dandridge, EDGE Khamari Brooks, cornerback Justice Fitzpatrick, tight end Kaiden Prothro, defensive linebacker Carter Luckie, wide receiver Cederian Morgan and defensive back Kaelan Jones. On Wednesday, UGA added five-star running back Ezavier Crowell and linebacker Izayia Williams. In the four-star group, wide receiver Brandon Bennett, defensive linebacker James Johnson, defensive back Jordan Smith and cornerback Peyton Dyer will be present. Advertisement Smart has been snubbed twice this month by top recruits. First, five-star Jackson Cantwell, who was leaning toward UGA and had a strong relationship with Curtis, chose Mario Cristobal–led Miami at the last minute. Second, tight end Mark Bowman recently opted for USC over the Dawgs. Where Georgia football's 2026 recruit class ranks

Where Georgia football's 2026 recruit class ranks The Georgia Bulldogs have been recruiting top prospects in the class of 2026 hard over the past couple of months. June is a critical time in recruiting and is when players take official visits and begin deciding where they will commit. Georgia's biggest addition in the class of 2026 came on May 5 when five-star quarterback Jared Curtis committed to Georgia. Eight other recruits have committed Georgia with four on offense and four on defense. 247Sports, On3 and Rivals all have varying opinions and rankings for the Georgia Bulldogs' 2026 recruiting class. How do all of the top recruiting sites rank the Bulldogs? 247 Sports: No. 16, 3rd in SEC This one is the lowest ranking of the bunch. Georgia has one five-star, six four-stars, and two three-stars. They're one of just four teams in the top 16 to have a five-star recruit. Ohio State has two of them (Chris Henry Jr., WR, and Blaine Bradford, S), LSU earned a commitment from Tristen Keys, and Miami recently won the Jackson Cantwell sweepstakes. 247Sports uses a two part process in scoring their recruiting classes based on both a rating and a comparison to the top recruit. On3 Industry: No. 5, 2nd in SEC Georgia leapfrogs past several teams in On3's rankings compared to 247Sports. They vault over Texas A&M and that's with Seven Cloud not included in the On3 database. On3 values the average commitment ranking more than the total number of commitments. There are no changes to the player ratings mentioned above, other than Cloud not ranked. Rivals: tied No. 11, 3rd in SEC On Rivals, Georgia has one five-star, seven four-stars, and one three-star. That is because S Kealan Jones is considered a four-star in Rivals. It results in a bump up of Georgia's score, tying the Bulldogs with the Oregon Ducks at No. 11.

Historic College Football Program Surprisingly Low in Rankings After Landing Star QB

The Georgia Bulldogs landed a huge victory on the recruiting trail with the recommitment of five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. But according to ESPN, the Bulldogs still have a lot of work to do. On Wednesday, ESPN ranked Georgia's 2026 recruiting class at No. 15 in the country. Advertisement "The Bulldogs have been a consistent staple among the top three overall classes during Kirby Smart's tenure and look to be a contender to do so again in 2026," ESPN's Craig Haubert wrote. "A big step toward finishing near the top again is bringing five-star quarterback Curtis back into the mix. After a decommitment, the Bulldogs were able to fend off other suitors, most notably Oregon, and give themselves a potential impact QB for the future. "Curtis might need to adjust to a relatively steep jump in competition level, but he has elite physical tools, including a smooth, quick release and the ability to change arm angles." Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart.© Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images In addition to Curtis, the Bulldogs have emphasized offensive playmakers in the 2026 class. Advertisement "With three of their top four pass catchers from 2024 having moved on and the fourth likely to leave after this season, Georgia is bringing in new receiving targets with speed," Haubert added. "Vance Spafford out of California won the fastest-man competition last summer at the UA Future 50 event and in-state prospect Brady Marchese has been recorded hitting over 22 mph in game play." On Tuesday, On3's Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong predicted the Bulldogs to land five-star tight ends Mark Bowman and Kaiden Prothro. Getting both Bowman and Prothro would give the Georgia offense two more offensive playmakers for next year's class. It would also boost the Bulldogs 2026 recruiting ranking. Based on the 247 Sports composite rankings, Georgia has the 12th-best 2026 recruiting class. The Bulldogs hold that ranking despite only nine commitments. Advertisement Landing Curtis didn't vault Georgia's 2026 class into the top 10. But it might not take too many more elite prospects for the Bulldogs to make a significant jump up the rankings. SEC Spotlight: Five developing recruiting storylines

Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman examines five developing recruiting storylines in the SEC as June visits loom. MORE SEC: Will No. 1 prospect choose UGA? The Dawgs have quietly caught fire over the last month, landing commitments from a string of blue-chippers, including five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. Advertisement Georgia isn't done either. The Bulldogs are in pole position for Rivals' No. 1 prospect OT Jackson Cantwell ahead of today's announcement. The Dawgs also have an edge with priority 2026 targets Jae Lamar, Mark Bowman, Kaiden Prothro and Khamari Brooks. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT LSU, TEXAS A&M BATTLING FOR FIVE-STAR RECEIVER Boobie Feaster is down to four contenders as official visits near and they loom particularly large for the five-star wide receiver as he sifts through his options and approaches his July 4 commitment date. Of the finalists, LSU and Texas A&M are hovering at the top. Advertisement Feaster has family ties to Louisiana and was moved in a big way by his spring visits back to Baton Rouge. The Aggies have evened this race significantly over the past month, getting him on campus multiple times and moving the needle in their favor in a big way. I shifted my Rivals FutureCast from LSU to Texas A&M earlier this month. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH LSU FANS AT SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TEXAS A&M FANS AT LONGHORNS STACKING BIG RECRUITING WINS IN LOUISIANA It's difficult for rival SEC programs to come into Louisiana and procure talent. Nick Saban's Alabama program did it best, beating LSU for several notable recruits such as Dylan Moses, Cam Robinson, Landon Collins and Chris Allen. Advertisement No team has done it better the past few years, however, than Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns, who scooped up four-star cornerback Hayward Howard Jr. out of New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr last week. Since Sark arrived in Austin, he's been able to successfully land blue-chippers year in and year out of Louisiana, beginning with five-star QB Arch Manning and continuing with Derek Williams, James Simon and Wardell Mack, among others. Add Howard to that continually growing list. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TEXAS FANS AT LSU, OKLAHOMA BATTLING OVER FOUR-STAR QUARTERBACK Four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley is down to LSU and Oklahoma following Curtis' commitment last week. LSU and Oklahoma have been in the driver's seat with the touted blue-chip passer, who will make official visits to Norman and Baton Rouge on June 13 and 20 before locking in his college commitment. Advertisement The Sooners laid strong groundwork with Bentley, but the Tigers have closed the gap significantly this spring. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OKLAHOMA FANS AT LSU, TEXAS A&M JOCKEYING FOR ELITE LINEMAN Elite 2026 lineman Lamar Brown is set to come off the board on July 10. The No. 25 overall player in the Rivals250 is down to LSU, Miami, Florida State and Texas A&M, but this race has long been between the Aggies and Tigers. If a decision were made today, it's hard not to like where LSU stands. However, the Aggies have been trending at the top with Brown on various occasions over the past 11 months, including three trips back to College Station this spring. Official visits back to Aggieland and LSU in June loom incredibly large.
