This Super-Compact Robot Vacuum Is the Smartest One I've Tried

When it comes to robot vacuums, my family has tried a wide variety, but the ones that my nearest and dearest have kept around are all from Roborock. In fact, I was the only one who was left out — until now. I was given the opportunity to try out the Roborock Saros 10, the brand's thinnest model yet, and couldn't miss my chance. Here's how the robot vacuum tackled my home's toughest messes — down to the abundance of pet hair and dust that never seems to fully go away in older homes.
The Saros 10 is Roborock's slimmest robot vacuum; it measures just 3.14 inches tall. It has an anti-tangle system, mopping capabilities, and obstacle recognition so it can navigate around objects with ease. Plus, it has a liftable chassis system, with a clearance of up to 1.57 inches, so that it can cross over doorways or thick carpets and rugs.

The dock that comes with robot vacuums and mops can seem like a lot, but the Roborock Saros 10 seems to be designed to take up as little space as possible. Because it measures only 3.14 inches high, it can sail under furniture and get to other hard-to-reach places, including tight corners and edges. It's equipped with an anti-tangle system that involves a dual-sided brushroll that collects the hair and sends it to an inlet where the hair is pulled free and deposited into the dustbin.
Using LiDAR technology, the Roborock creates a map of its cleaning space, including low clearance areas, thanks to its Upward Range Finder. That ensures that the device can navigate smoothly even when it goes under a sofa, bed, or shelving unit. It's also able to detect whether it's on carpet or hard flooring and automatically makes cleaning adjustments based on the environment. It also does not need to be connected to the internet to continue functioning once its settings are already in place.
Pet owners will also love that this robot vacuum is one of the quieter models that's packed with additional features like automatic pet recognition, pet search, pet snaps, and video calling. You can also rely on the integrated Roborock SmartPlan 2.0 to deep-clean rooms that don't see a lot of foot traffic, reduce vacuum noise, and even re-wash high-traffic areas like the kitchen and bathrooms.
Setting up the Roborock Saros 10 was a lot less intimidating than it seemed before I unboxed it. Fortunately, the instructions were easy to follow, albeit extensive (for good reason). It took less than an hour to get it set up, including the time I took to decide where I wanted to place it, which ended up being against a free patch of wall between my sofa and full-length mirror. My floor was covered with specks of packaging, dust, dog hair — and whatever else she tracked in from the backyard — so I started cleaning right away.
I was immediately impressed by the remote controls for the Saros. My home is tiny, so I'm careful about how I take up space in it. I wanted the robot vacuum to be able to roam freely from room to room on its own without me stepping over it, so I settled on the couch with the dogs while the Roborock did its thing. There's hard flooring throughout my home, and as the Saros 10 moved across it there was an instant improvement. It got up the flecks of dirt, crumbs, and debris, and cleared up the pet hair, but the best part was yet to come.
It was beyond time for my floors to get a good mopping, and I loved that it was an easy process with the Saros. When all was said and done, my floors looked better than when I mopped them myself! I have a few low-pile area rugs in my living room and bedroom, but it didn't trip up the robot vacuum at all. Plus, the vacuum can automatically detach the mop pad at the dock when it's not in mopping mode.
I really enjoy how hands-off it is, so I can trust that my floors will get clean without me having to double-check the vacuum's progress. And I'm a huge stickler when it comes to edge cleaning, so seeing that the Roborock was equipped with a side brush to take care of those areas was a big win in my book!
Yes! Overall, I love the meticulousness of the Roborock Saros 10, and given its $1,599 price tag I'd expect nothing less. It feels like a robot vacuum that was made for people like me — those who keep a busy schedule, have pets at home, and need a little automation when it comes to regular cleaning. Amazon Prime Day 2025: Everything you need to know, tips to get the best deals, and anticipated dates

It's officially June, which means it's almost time for Amazon Prime Day — that glorious, totally not-made-up retail holiday. Amazon hasn't officially announced the dates yet, but the event almost always happens in mid-July. So mark your calendars in pencil for now, and start thinking about the items on your wish-list. Prime Day always brings some of the lowest prices of the year, meaning this is definitely the time to seek out deals on the stuff you want. As always, we're here to help you find all the best deals — and make sure they're actually decent, not just price-adjusted wanna-bes. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event, and I've tracked (and shopped) it since the beginning. So read on for some tips to help you max out your 2025 Prime Day savings. Related: Amazon Prime Day 2025 deals are coming in July: The best early deals to shop now and everything else we know Yahoo's Amazon Prime Day portal Prime Day 101 is pretty much the same as Shopping 101: Seek out the biggest percentage price drops before you pull the trigger. But what are those percentages based on? There's the list price, aka MSRP ("manufacturer's suggested retail price"), which is the default price set by the manufacturer — or the Amazon seller, which in many cases is not Amazon. And because those third-party sellers have complete control over the prices shown for any product, they can artificially inflate the list price in order to make the discounted price seem more substantial. Not every seller does this, of course, but it does happen. For example, there are a lot of no-brand robot vacuum cleaners available from Amazon. A common strategy there is for the seller to assign the product a very high list price, at least for a few weeks, then sell it for considerably less — making it seem like you're saving more than you are. Meanwhile, competing models are all priced around that same "sale" price, but seem less attractive by comparison. Amazon has attempted to mitigate this issue on some products by instead listing something it calls the "typical price." Per Amazon, that is "the median price paid on Amazon in the last 90 days, [excluding] prices paid by customers for the product during a limited time deal." It's a nice idea, but it doesn't seem to preclude some third-party sellers from pulling the same inflated discount game, even on name-brand products. Take this 16-inch Dell Inspiron laptop sold by "General Hardware Story." It has a list price from that vendor of a whopping $3,400. It was listed as "71% off" during the Memorial Day sale, when it sold for closer to $1,000. Sounds great until you investigate further. That $3,400 price is an illusion: A pair of on-screen offers — 50% off at checkout, 20% coupon — knocked it down to $1,020 just a day after the Memorial Day sale ended, meaning that supposed giant holiday discount was a mere $20! A little common sense is applicable here: If you're seeing something advertised as 70%, 80% or even 90% off, chances are good it was never really selling for that higher price to begin with. And if it was, it definitely wasn't worth it. So given that the posted discounts don't always line up with reality, how can you determine if a deal is really worth buying? That brings us to tip #2. Knowledge is power, and there's no better knowledge you can have during Prime Day than a product's complete price history. Thankfully, a couple of free tools let you pull back the curtain and see exactly that. Why is this so important? Two reasons. First, as discussed above, you can see if that deal is really a deal or if the discounted price is the "always" price. Second, you can eliminate that sense of urgency from your shopping, because if a product has been discounted like this before, chances are good it will be again. The tools I recommend for this: CamelCamelCamel (so named for the animal's humps, which go up and down — just like prices) and Keepa. Both will show you detailed price-history charts, including the lowest and highest prices on record. Now, the caveat here is that these price trackers will capture the same dramatic price fluctuations based on those sometimes-inflated list prices noted above. But for products with more honest price fluctuations, you can still save by waiting just a few days for a the discount cycle to repeat. A great example: Amazon-branded products like the Kindle, Fire TV Stick and Echo Show. Checking their price histories, I know that they go on sale with almost clockwork regularity (typically once per month). Granted, Prime Day may yield some of the year's lowest prices on those products, but often by only $5 or $10. If this isn't the best time for you to make a purchase, you can always wait for the next discount. To use these tools, you can either search for a product (or copy/paste an Amazon product link) on their respective sites, or install their desktop browser extensions, which make searches much faster and easier. Prefer to shop on your phone? Keepa has mobile apps for Android and iOS. If there's a product you've been eyeballing but don't want to have to keep checking to see if it's on sale, there's an easy, automated solution: Create a price-drop alert so you'll get notified if and when that product hits your desired amount. CamelCamelCamel and Keepa both offer this feature, a great secondary benefit to using them. Here's an example of what that looks like in the former, with Apple AirPods Pro 2 as my desired deal: Obviously this needn't be limited to Prime Day; I use price-drop alerts all the time. As long as you're not in a rush to buy whatever it is, this is the way to make sure you get exactly the discount you want. This may come as a shock, but there are other stores out there. Best Buy, Target, Walmart and other retailers often run competing sale events during Prime Day, matching and sometimes even beating Amazon's prices. Indeed, I think we're all a little hard-wired to believe that Amazon always has the best deals, but that's not always the case. Before you pull the trigger, especially on a large purchase, it's worth taking a minute or two to do some price-comparison shopping. And if I can hop onto my little soapbox for a moment, don't forget to check out local stores as well. Especially bookstores, which can offer a browsing experience and customer service unmatched by Amazon. Some even have loyalty programs or other discounts that might get you close to Amazon pricing. I'd be remiss if I didn't note that Yahoo will be monitoring and sharing all the best Prime Day deals in all the different categories: home, health, kitchen, tech and more. We have teams of experts (I mean it, literal experts!) scouring Amazon for the latest and greatest buys. So if you haven't already, bookmark Yahoo Shopping and Yahoo Tech as your jumping-off points for Prime Day 2025. Speaking of tech, this is a good time to mention that Prime Day usually yields some of the year's lowest prices on Amazon-branded devices: Kindle e-readers, Fire TVs and tablets, Echo smart speakers and screens, Ring doorbells and so on. If any of those are on your shopping list, it's a good idea to press pause until July. Although Amazon hasn't officially announced the dates for Prime Day 2025, the retailer has confirmed that the event will take place in July. Historically it happens during the second or third week of the month, though things could be different this year owing to a variety of factors (see below). Needless to say, we'll be watching for the official announcement and updating this story once we get it. My crystal ball is in storage, but it's a good bet this Prime Day might look a bit different from past ones. According to a 2024 AltIndex report, roughly 70% of all goods sold by Amazon come from China — and China is now subject to new tariffs. While things could change between now and July, it seems likely that prices will be higher on many, if not most, of these goods. Interestingly, some of Prime Day's biggest discounts tend to be on Amazon-branded products: Fire TVs and tablets, Kindle e-readers, Echo smart speakers and so on. If Amazon is now paying more to import these devices, will the discounts be less than in previous years? We'll have to wait and see. In recent years, Prime Day has spanned two full days, ending at midnight Pacific Time (3 a.m. ET) the second day. Once we get the confirmed start date and the duration, we'll know exactly when it's expected to end, too. Roborock Saros Z70 vs Roborock Saros 10R: which robot vacuum is best?

The Roborock Saros Z70 is the latest robot vacuum from the company, offering not just impressive vacuuming and mopping skills, but also a robotic arm. This can pick up items left on your floor, allowing it to provide you with a more comprehensive clean. However, our Roborock Saros Z70 review found it to be somewhat underwhelming. Meanwhile, the older Roborock Saros 10R offers many of the same features as the Z70 — minus the wild price tag and robotic arm. So, which one makes a better robot vacuum for your home? The Roborock Saros Z70 or Roborock Saros 10R? Is the robotic arm worth the extra money, or can you save several hundred bucks by opting for the Saros 10R? Here's a closer look at these two robot vacuums to help you decide which one to buy. Recommended Videos Pricing and design The Roborock Saros Z70 carries the eye-watering price of $2,600, though it can often be found on sale for much less. Its size is fairly standard for robot vacuums, with a rectangular base and circular robot. There are a few unique accents throughout the dock and the robot, giving it a more premium appearance than most competitors. Of course, there's also the robotic arm. This is typically stowed away in a small chamber on top of the robot. Only when an object is detected will it deploy. The Saros 10R looks very similar to the Z70, though it's missing some of the accents and fancy flourishes of the Z70. It still looks fantastic, however, and much of the designs are shared across the two products. The 10R is also much more affordable at $1,600, though it's still one of the most expensive robots on the market. Winner: Roborock Saros 10R Vacuuming Vacuuming performance is quite similar between these two devices. The Saros Z70 has the better suction numbers at 22,000 Pa, but the 10R is no slouch at 20,000 Pa. Both can also swing out their side brush to reach tight corners, can automatically detach their mopping pads to ensure your carpets stay dry, and use the same Starsight Autonomous System 2.0 for navigation. In testing, both were more than capable of dealing with daily messes, and they left behind nice tidy patterns that give your home a 'just cleaned' feeling. Obstacle avoidance was excellent for both robots, and the ability to lift their chassis to cross thresholds or deal with different types of environments made them versatile companions for all sorts of carpet. Both also feature an anti-tangle system that never once needed any manual intervention, as hair and long fibers were deftly removed and suctioned away into its dustbin. In short — both are excellent vacuums. The Saros Z70 might have the upper hand when it comes to total suction, but real-world testing revealed two robots that are just about evenly matched. Winner: Tie Mopping It's a similar story for mopping. Roborock has equipped these two devices with essentially the same mopping systems. They feature two spinning mopping pads, one of which can swing outward to clean near baseboards. Both robots will lift their mops when traveling on carpet and give themselves a self-cleaning when back at the docking station. This includes a hot water rinse followed by an air dry — which goes a long way towards eliminating the mold and mildew smell found on lesser robots. Testing once again found them to be perfectly matched for daily cleaning chores. Spills and stains were easily removed by the Z70 and 10R, and their ability to leave behind their mops when vacuuming is another huge win. Winner: Tie Additional features Most additional features are shared by the Saros Z70 and Saros 10R. This includes: Intelligent dirt detection Auto detergent dispensing Auto tank refilling Auto dust emptying Auto brush lifting Adaptive route algorithm App support Voice assistant The big difference, of course, is the robotic arm of the Saros Z70. But based on our testing, it's not quite ready for the spotlight. It will almost never detect objects it can pick up when they're placed on carpet, relegating it to only being useful on hard floors. Even then, the arm has a difficult time gripping certain objects, and it takes a very long time to operate. A weight restriction of 300 grams limits what it can handle, and it's not uncommon for it to take multiple attempts to pick up and properly move an object to the designated spot in your house. It's a great first step — but like any innovative new technology, it still needs some time in the oven. Winner: Tie Verdict Despite lending a robotic arm to your home, the Roborock Saros Z70 isn't the best fit for most shoppers. Instead, consider picking up the Roborock Saros 10R. It packs in nearly all the same features — minus the arm — and it's much more affordable. Capable of providing you with a superior floor cleaning experience, it's one of the best robot vacuums on the market. Be sure to also compare the Saros 10R and Saros 10, and they're both great products but they go about mopping in entirely different ways.
