Trainwreck: Storm Area 51 (2025) Review – The power of a meme

The power of a meme The internet is a weird place. It's impossible to predict what the next trend will be or when it will end. But there are many times that a silly meme can become much more. Trainwreck: Storm Area 51 delves into one such instance and the repercussions of a simple Facebook joke. One day, Matty Roberts, a normal young man, decided to kill boredom the best way he could: by making a meme. He created an event on his Facebook page inviting people to storm Area 51, which got a massive repercussion he could've never expected. After a few days, thousands of people had confirmed their participation, and influencers and news outlets were talking about it. This event is a perfect example of the internet's power. Today, a simple tweet, meme, video, or anything can become tomorrow's biggest headline. And to convey that, Trainwreck: Storm Area 51 brings people from all walks of life involved in the story. They show the viewpoint of cops, the military, influencers, the meme's creator, journalists, and more. The Netflix documentary alternates between the interviewees a lot, making the story more dynamic. Even if it's focusing on a specific person, we still get a quick impression from at least one other participant. Even though that's great for the pacing, it's hard not to think the documentary could've been shorter. It spends a lot of time presenting a local citizen and his struggle to stop the event, but it's the least interesting portion. Not to mention, it's even more disappointing when it goes nowhere. The influencers also have more screentime than they should. Seeing how the internet embraced the meme and created infinite content about it is important. However, most of their participation in the documentary feels superfluous. You can see that the production spent more on this Trainwreck, not only by the number of people participating, but also by the resources they used. Not every incident regarding the Storm Area 51 meme was recorded, so the documentary uses animation to recreate these scenes. But the best use of the animation is displaying the 'what if' scenarios of such an event. It could've gone in many directions, from no one showing up to hundreds or thousands of people getting shot by the military. And we can only see that imagined thanks to it having animated scenes as well. This one does justice to the trainwreck name, as no matter the scenario, it'd never have worked. However, the way it doesn't work is very surprising. This time, the organizers actually all gained something, while those who lost were the military and the government, which unnecessarily spent more money than they needed. Still, this surprise doesn't fix the lackluster ending. In real life, nothing happened, and the people just ended up partying in front of the place. Even so, the documentary keeps building up to a big ending that never arrives. There were many alternatives, such as focusing more on the comedy of the situation. It could've also been expressed before that the event wouldn't amount to anything huge instead. However, the ending brings a few questions that make it more interesting. The internet is bizarre, and crazy incidents happen because of it, so there's no denying that something bad could've occurred. Seeing that's true, how do you stop a joke? It's a weird, but real debate in the world we currently live in. Although the quality of these Traiwreck movies varies a lot and none are exceptional, it's a fun series to follow. There aren't many documentaries that focus on a diversity of incidents like it, mainly situations that have happened so recently.

Katie Price worries fans with appearance in family photo after explaining weight loss

Katie Price shared a family photo of herself beside two relatives this week and it prompted reaction on social media, following her having previously addressed concern from fans Reality TV star Katie Price has sparked renewed concern over her appearance this week. It came after she shared a photo of herself beside two relatives, taken whilst enjoying some time with her family, in a post on social media. ‌ The photo showed Katie, 47, stood beside her nieces in an outdoor area. The former glamour model was seen wearing a white top, a grey jacket, black leggings and white trainers whilst posing with her arms around her loved ones. ‌ It was one of several "family time" photos shared by Katie on Facebook yesterday and she wrote in the caption of that post: "My beautiful nieces." She was met with concern on the platform, which comes after Katie revealed her weight last month amid people being "obsessed" over it. ‌ Amidst trolling and jokes about her appearance, several people expressed concern in the comments section. One person wrote: "Katie you look painfully thin." Another said in their reaction: "Her legs don't look real." Someone wrote: "Wow, not much left of Katie. I don't know if this is a healthy look." Others defended Katie against the commentary that her post had prompted on the platform this week. It included one fan criticising those who poked fun over her appearance, with them suggesting that the reaction was "hurtful". ‌ The fan wrote in the comments section: "It's disappointing to see people making jokes about someone's body, especially when they don't know them personally." They added: "It's not only hurtful but also sets a bad example for children." Defending Katie, another person wrote: "Wow these comments are vile this [woman] obviously struggles with her appearance. In a world where you can be anything be kind. All the hates she gets and this [woman] is still smiling." ‌ It isn't the first time that Katie has faced trolling and concern over her appearance. The former I'm A Celebrity star has previously spoken about having lost weight in recent years and addressed the concern she has been subjected to. As reported earlier this year, Katie shared that she had "wanted" to lose weight. She's suggested that it came after she gained weight whilst recovering from a broken foot a few years ago and then subsequently through IVF treatment. On her podcast, the Katie Price Show, in January, she said: "Everyone's said I've got skinny and that." Her sister Sophie Price said: "You've got well thin." Katie said: "I know. But there's a reason. If anyone Google's me, I've always been skinny." ‌ Katie added: "But people have to remember, when I broke my feet, I was in a wheelchair, not active - before that I was running all the time. Then I've gone through IVF three times [and] that pumps you and puts weight on - I haven't done anything." She continued in the discussion on her podcast at the time: "Now I've realised when I was eating pasta, oats, or milk or anything, it bloats me. [...] So I've been avoiding stuff like that and not feeling so sluggish and tired after."

Emmerdale's Dylan returns as fans 'convinced' of family link

Fred Kettle, who played troubled teen Dylan Penders, had previously hinted at 'trouble' for Dylan's return. Dylan played a vital role as April Windsor's friend when she ran away from home earlier this year. However, fans believe that the character's return may lead to upset among one of the soap's families. In a new interview with actor Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle, on Emmerdale's Facebook page, Fred spoke of his delight at being back. And sneaky fans were quick to speculate that he's part of the Dingle clan. Fans react to Dylan's return on Emmerdale Suggesting he could be a "long-lost Dingle" relative, one user said: 'I'm happy he's back, but I think he could be one of the Dingles' children. 'I think it's Marlon's wife, Lydia's son who she thought died.' Another added: 'Aww loved Dylan, fantastic actor, he's going to go a long way. And I'm convinced he's Eli's son.' While another added: 'Is he Marlon's nephew?' and in response, one fan commented: 'I think that's what a lot of us are hoping.' While a third said: 'I notice they're bringing Dylan back! Wouldn't it be funny if Dylan ended being a long-lost Dingle!' Speaking to The Mirror last month, actor Fred Kettle said he couldn't wait to be back on the ITV soap. "I am so glad to be back,' he said. Recommended Reading: 'It is going to be a nice journey for Dylan, given his experiences. But he is going to cause a bit of bother in the village." Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw also previously hinted at what's ahead for Dylan. She said: "The lovely Fred Kettle who played Dylan, is coming back to the show. "He is going to be bringing his past back to the village with him and that's going to cause huge problems for April and the family there.'
