Spotty showers knock temperatures back into the low 70s, wildfire smoke returns
Winds from the northwest will pull wildfire smoke back into Minnesota skies over the weekend, as well a chance for rain Saturday afternoon. Smoke will hang around until Monday, impacting the air quality. Another wave of upper-level energy will swing by on Saturday, creating a chance for pop-up showers and storms throughout the afternoon. A chance for a thin line of rain arrives overnight Saturday with a quick-moving cold front. The cold front will knock temperatures back with highs back into the low 70s on Sunday. After some sunshine to start Sunday, more clouds and spotty showers drop in Sunday evening that will last through Monday morning. Monday will make for our coolest day with highs only reaching the 60s. This unsettled pattern looks to break by Tuesday with high pressure building at the surface and aloft. This will promote more sunshine and a warming forecast as highs climb back into the 80s by Wednesday. There is the potential for more storms late next week, but there is some uncertainty with timing. Hot and dry weather this weekend
Drier weather will continue to move into New Mexico into this weekend. Storm chances will still be possible Friday afternoon in far eastern New Mexico. That includes another threat of severe weather. Temperatures will continue a warming trend across the state Friday. On Saturday, only a spotty shower or two is likely in northeast New Mexico, but on Sunday, more isolated storms are possible in northern and eastern New Mexico. Temperatures will again continue to warm up through the weekend, with Sunday being the hottest day for most. More moisture will move into eastern New Mexico Monday, bringing a better chance for showers and thunderstorms up to the northern mountains as well. Outflow from those storms will push moisture as far west as the Continental Divide Tuesday morning. This will bring a more widespread chance for storms Tuesday afternoon. Rain chances move back into eastern parts of the state Wednesday. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Showers possible in Twin Cities for next few days before temps return to 80s
The weekend won't be a washout, but Minnesotans should keep their umbrellas handy. Friday will bring scattered showers and a few rumbles, but nothing heavy. The activity will mainly be north of the Twin Cities in the morning before easing up in the afternoon with sun breaks and dry time. Expect highs in the lower 70s through the weekend. More showers are possible Saturday, mainly in the afternoon. Sunday will be unsettled, but periods of sunshine are likely. It's possible some wildfire smoke from Canada could move in, as well. Next week will start cool and breezy, with lingering clouds and spotty rain. Then, sunshine returns and temperatures bounce back into the 80s.
