'Honeymoon period over' for Lennon at Pars as he builds for next season
Dunfermline boss Neil Lennon insists his 'honeymoon period' at East End Park is over as he prepares for next season and aims to give Derek McInnes a 'bloody nose' in the League Cup.
The former Celtic manager took the reins at the Pars last season and helped keep them in the Championship before being handed the job on a permanent basis.
He is now ready for the 'real work' to begin as he begins to build a squad for the upcoming campaign and revealed the big part the club's owner, James Bord, played in his decision to take on the task.
He said: 'I had a taste of it towards the end of last season, and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed being back in Scottish football.
'I have also been really impressed by the owner; he is the main reason I have taken this on. I enjoyed working with the players and the staff here have been exceptionally good with me.
'But, that's the honeymoon period over now, and the real work now sort of begins. I felt a large bit of loyalty towards James Bord as well.
'One, for talking me into coming here, and then the opportunity to take the club on, so I owe a lot to him for this.
'What we want to do is build a team and build a squad because we've let a lot of players go in the summer.
'Obviously, we weren't happy with our league position and 28 goals in 36 games speaks for itself, so we want to bring a brand of football and excitement to the club to be competitive in this division, which you have to be.
'Then we will try to find those nuggets of quality that can make the difference in games.'
The Pars will get their campaign under way against Hearts at Tynecastle in the group stage of the Premier Sports Cup at the start of July.
Lennon, who managed across the other side of Edinburgh when he was Hibs boss, will come up against McInnes in his first game in the home dugout.
And while the former Kilmarnock and Aberdeen boss is someone the Dunfermline manager rates highly, he hopes to give him the worst possible start in his new job.
Lennon said: 'It's a great game to come back to, albeit very early, but it will be a great challenge for us. I'm delighted for Derek (to get the Hearts job), because I have been a big fan of his for a long time, and he has got himself back at a really big city club, so it will be exciting times for Hearts as well.
'But we want to go there and give him a bloody nose if we can.'

Hearts and Aberdeen braced for transfer tussle as Premiership rivals eye Iraq winger
The two clubs have a winger who is impressing in Norway on their radar and they could battle it out for the star Stromsgodset winger Marko Farji is on Hearts' transfer radar - with Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen also showing interest. The Jambos are looking to strengthen their attacking options under new boss Derek McInnes and Record Sport revealed they were in for Claudio Braga, while Islam Chesnokov is another who looks set for Gorgie. Farji has turned out for his club 11 times so far this term and despite their struggles - sit 14th in the Norwegian Eliteserien with just two wins from nine - the playmaker has seven goals and three assists in all competitions. Fellow target Braga also plies his trade in Norway in the second division with Aaelsund which appears to signal a desire from the recruitment staff to venture into new territories. Farji, who has been capped twice for Iraq, is under contract with Stromsgodset until 2026 and a six-figure fee would likely be enough to get a deal done. The creative talent is versatile and while he most often operates as a left-winger, he can also play in an attacking midfield position or on the right-flank. With Daniel Arzani's future still up in the air amid interest from Tynecastle, the Australian has suitors in Asia and across Europe so Farji could be an alternative to the ex- Celtic man. It comes as they continue to push for a deal for Stuart Findlay at the back as well as Uchenna Ogundu up top.

'Fed up' Brian Cox hits out at Keir Starmer on BBC Debate Night
The Succession star was speaking as he appeared on the BBC Scotland Debate Night programme on Wednesday evening. Cox called for more unity of purpose from Scottish politicians and the public more widely. READ MORE: Wee Ginger Dug: John Swinney needs to rethink his strategy over Scottish independence 'I'm not just talking about parties, I'm talking about the country,' he said. 'I'm talking about this country, which I love, and I'm very proud that I come from this country, but I've seen it time and time again where there's this endless debate: debate this, that, this, that, this. 'I just feel that we need unity, we need unity of purpose, and we haven't got unity of purpose. I'm sorry, but we simply don't. 'We have so much dissension, and we've lost the way really big time, and I feel that we should resume that, we should get it back.' Cox said he did not know which political party could unite Scotland, but suggested it was 'certainly' not Labour under Starmer. The actor went on: 'I'm not pleased with Mr Starmer and his attitude towards Scotland, because everything for him is England. 'He talks about England, he talks about English football.' After applause from the audience, the Dundee-born star added: 'I'm at heart a socialist, so I get, I do really get annoyed when it's not about socialism, it's about something else, and that's what I feel is lacking. 'I'm just, I'm sick of it really, I'm fed up. READ MORE: These key economic truths show how independent Scotland and Wales can succeed 'I come back to this country. I love this country and I see dissension after dissension after dissension, the inability to come together, and it's an appalling situation.' Asked if pro-independence parties should unite, Cox said: 'Absolutely they should, because it's in everybody's interests.' Talking about the Labour Government, he added: 'They're not interested in us. I know for a start that Starmer is certainly not interested and doesn't want an independent Scotland. 'He only sees it as a sort of encumbrance to what he is, so I'm not happy about that situation.' Brian Cox is known for his role as Logan Roy in the smash hit SuccessionElsewhere, Cox, a former Labour supporter, said that the UK Government's attitude to Scotland was 'nebulous'. 'I worry about a lot of things that go on, and I'm particularly worried about the attitude towards Scotland,' he said of the impact of the Spending Review, which Rachel Reeves announced on Wednesday. Cox went on: 'There certainly should be more detail, but they also should certainly understand what the need of this country is – and that's what gets me. 'It's a bit bland, it's a bit off, you know, just off the cuff, and I really want to see really what they think about Scotland, and I find it a little bit nebulous.'
