Michael B. Jordan's ‘Thomas Crown Affair' From Amazon MGM Studios Gets Early 2027 Release
EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios we hear has dated Michael B. Jordan's reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair for March 5, 2027. The movie will also be shown in Imax.
The news comes as Jordan is on a wild ride at the box office, with original period vampire movie Sinners getting a rare A CinemaScore and banking $77.5 million domestic. The Ryan Coogler-directed movie is bound for a second robust weekend.

As we first told you, Jordan stars and produces Thomas Crown Affair through his Outlier Society, alongside Taylor Russell. The previous movies focused on a rich playboy who steals art. In the 1968 Steve McQueen original that co-starred Faye Dunaway, he's matching his wits against an insurance investigator, while in the 1999 Pierce Brosnan version, the protag meets his match in a detective played by Rene Russo. Plot details on Jordan's version are under wraps.
As previously reported, Drew Pearce wrote the script for the new pic. A previous draft was written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson and was based on the original film.
Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff will also serve as producers. Toberoff's company is also a production company on the film with Outlier Society. Outlier Society's Elizabeth Raposo is also a producer on the pic. Alan Trustman, writer of the original 1968 film, is an executive producer.
With Mission: Impossible films winding down and Amazon MGM Studios in the early days of 007, The Thomas Crown Affair is being primed as another high-end thriller series. With that in mind, Russell could be creating her own version of the iconic Bond girl.
The 1999 Thomas Crown Affair from MGM minted $69.3 million domestic and $124.3M worldwide, unadjusted for inflation.
Currently on March 5, 2027, Disney and Warner Bros/DC Studios have untitled movies.

This clever slasher-comedy follows a group of Black friends who head to a remote cabin to celebrate Juneteenth. While exploring the cabin's game room, they stumble upon a board game called "The Blackening," which features a racist caricature mascot on the cover and pieces that correlate to each member of the group. To their horror, they find themselves locked in while a "Saw"-esque broadcast explains that they must compete in "The Blackening," a trivia-based game on Black culture, if they want to survive. To make it through the night, they'll have to rely on their wits along with their deep knowledge of horror movie clichés. "The Blackening" is hilariously self-aware, poking fun at classic genre tropes while still delivering suspense and surprises. Nicky Hilton wants all new mothers to know that, no matter how they feed their babies, they're supported. The entrepreneur, 41, has teamed up with Nara Organics in support of The 2am Club, a social campaign which aims to share insight into the pressures placed on mothers during their feeding journeys and the urgent need for maternal mental health advocacy. To announce the partnership, Hilton shared a personal photo of herself breastfeeding one of her three children via Instagram on Friday, June 6. 'Each person's feeding journey is unique, and I'm excited to support @Narababy as an investor,' she wrote alongside the photo, in which she looks at the camera as her newborn nurses. 'Their innovative baby formula, launching this spring, is something I'm truly proud to be a part of. From its music to cinematography, special effects and production design, Ryan Coogler's Sinners was a cross-departmental masterclass, which undoubtedly helped to make the period vampire flick the breakout hit of the year. And now, as the movie makes its way onto digital platforms, we're getting more of a peek behind the curtain to see how it all came together. Coogler had originally become aware of prosthetic makeup designer Mike Fontaine's work after seeing Jeremy Saulnier's brutal container thriller Green Room. "I hadn't been that viscerally moved by makeup since I saw The Thing," Coogler says in the featurette. "It kind of left a mark on me." Once onboard, Fontaine met with Coogler to hear directly from him about what his goals for Sinners' makeup were and to land on a shared point of view. "Ryan and I were having a conversation early on, and I started to get a sense of what his vision was for the film," Fontaine says. "The process for me always begins with the script and the initial images that come to mind. From there, Fontaine went off to begin a months-long process that evolves from drawing to paintings and sculpting, some of which you can see in the video above.
