Dodgers Make Move After Mets Game
Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Landon Knack (3-2, 5.12 ERA) was having a rough season coming into Thursday's game against the New York Mets, but was coming off two consecutive quality starts. Unfortunately for the 27-year-old, he didn't maintain that momentum.

Knack coughed up four runs on four hits in just 3.1 innings pitched, adding five walks and just one strikeout. The second-year hurler gave up a solo homer to star slugger Pete Alonso in the second frame and solo homers to outfielder Brandon Nimmo and designated hitter Starling Marte in the third. Infielder Brett Baty added a sacrifice fly before Knack finally finished the inning.
The Tennessee native then notched one out in the fourth before walking two batters, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had seen enough. Los Angeles followed up with a roster move on Friday, via Kirsten Watson.

"Dodgers recalled left-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski and optioned right-handed pitcher Landon Knack," she reported.

This season, Wrobleski has allowed eight runs across nine innings in the big leagues. The 24-year-old went 1-2 with a 5.70 ERA after getting his first call-up in 2024.
The Dodgers took Knack in the second round of the 2020 MLB Draft. The East Tennessee alum got called up last season and went 3-5 with a 3.65 ERA over 15 appearances, including 12 starts. He also gave up six runs over seven postseason innings.
New York was up 4-0 on Thursday before Los Angeles put up three runs in the bottom of the third. Alonso followed up with an RBI single in the eighth, but the Dodgers scored three more in the bottom of that frame, giving them a 6-5 lead. Closer Tanner Scott pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the save.

Dodgers will make some lineup changes Wednesday and Thursday
With the Dodgers in the midst of a stretch that will see them play a season-long 19 games without a day off, manager Dave Roberts rested shortstop Mookie Betts on Wednesday and started Miguel Rojas in his place. Shohei Ohtani, who was in Wednesday's lineup as the starting pitching and designated hitter, is expected to sit out Thursday's series finale, and likely will outfielder Teoscar Hernandez and catcher Will Smith. Relievers Kirby Yates and Tanner Scott both threw hitless innings in rehab appearances with triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Yates struck out one and gave up a walk while Scott walked a batter and struck out two. Both could rejoin the Dodgers this weekend in San Diego, Roberts said. Utility player Kike Hernandez, on the injured list since July 7 with left elbow inflammation, was expected to make his first rehab start Wednesday. Before Wednesday's game the Dodgers also recalled right-hander Paul Gervase from Oklahoma City and optioned right-handed Alexis Diaz. Gervase, 25, acquired from Tampa Bay at the trade deadline, appeared in five games with the Rays this season, striking out six batters in 6.1 innings. Díaz, 28, was 1-0 with a 5.00 ERA in nine games for the Dodgers. A former National League all-star, he was acquired on May 29 from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for minor league pitcher Mike Villani. Sign up for more Dodgers news with Dodgers Dugout. Yankees Reliever Bolting For Lowly Division Rival Makes Sense After Latest Report
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Luke Weaver became a key player for the Yankees last season, but he will be a free agent after the season. Weaver had a 2.89 ERA last year and pitched in 62 games. In the postseason, he had a 1.76 ERA and finished eight games for his team, picking up four saves in the process. He has a 2.52 ERA through 47 games this year, and could have a strong market in free agency. The Baltimore Orioles just found out that Felix Bautista will miss all of next season, and FanSided's Chris Landers tabbed Weaver as a fit for the team. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 29: Luke Weaver #30 of the New York Yankees pitches during the eighth inning of Game Four of the 2024 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Yankee... NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 29: Luke Weaver #30 of the New York Yankees pitches during the eighth inning of Game Four of the 2024 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Yankee Stadium on October 29, 2024 in the Bronx borough of New York City. More"Of course, he doesn't have the longest track record of top-shelf relief work, and he's about to turn 32 years old," wrote Landers. "The stuff is legit, though, and there's little reason to believe that this is some sort of mirage or that the righty is due for regression. The movement profile on his fastball is excellent, his changeup is a true putaway pitch and he can attack both righties and lefties equally. Weaver is a fit no matter what you need, in other words, and while the Yankees will likely be motivated to keep him, hurting a division rival is always an added bonus." Losing Bautista is a huge blow to the Orioles' bullpen. However, Weaver can wear any hat the team needs. He can close games, be a setup man or give multiple innings. The Yankees may focus their spending elsewhere, and Weaver could get a good offer from the Orioles, as their team looks to bounce back from a horrendous season.
