Rayhan Thomas finishes T-58 in Boise Open

Boise (Idaho), Aug 18 (PTI) Rayhan Thomas carded a final round of 1-over 72 to finish the week in Boise at tied 58 in the Albertsons Boise Open on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Thomas, who started the week with a strong first round of 65, slipped thereafter. With 65-70-69-72 his combined score for the week was eight under par.
The final round included five birdies, four bogeys and one double bogey.
Indo-Canadian Sudarshan Yellamaraju missed the cut, while Indo-American Julian Suri was tied-seventh.
Emilio Gonzalez of Mexico won the title at the Hillcrest Country Club by becoming the fourth player in the history of the Korn Ferry Tour and the first player since 2010 to shoot 10-under par on the final day of a 72-hole tournament and win.
Gonzalez finished the week at 22-under par (68-68-65-61). In ttthe second place was Jeffrey Kang with a score of 21 under par (67-67-64-65). PTI Corr UNG

Bangladesh likely to replace Pakistan in Asia Cup hockey
Agency: New Delhi, Aug 18 (PTI) Bangladesh is likely to replace Pakistan in the men's Asia Cup hockey tournament to be held in Rajgir, Bihar from August 29 if the latter fails to confirm participation in the next couple of days, a top Hockey India official told PTI on Monday. The Indian government had already said that it will provide visas to the Pakistani players for Asia Cup, but the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has refused to travel citing security concerns. The organisers have already approached Bangladesh to fill up Pakistan's place in the eight-team tournament, but Hockey India said the exact scenario will be clear in the next 48 hours. 'The Indian government has already said that it is will willing to provide visas to Pakistani players but if they don't want to come to India, it's not our problem. Bangladesh has already been invited to participate in case Pakistan doesn't come but we will have to wait for two more days to get the confirmation," the HI official said when quizzed about the situation. 'Neither Pakistan or Bangladesh have confirmed anything to us till now. But Bangladesh are likely replacement for Pakistan," he added. Pakistan's participation in the Asia Cup — a qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup — was uncertain after the military confrontation with India following the Pahalgam terror attack. India had launched Operation Sindoor to destroy terror infrastructure in Pakistan after the terror attack that killed 26 people. PHF had suggested that the tournament be moved out of India to another venue. Besides hosts India, the other participating teams in the Asia Cup are China, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Oman and Chinese Taipei. Ladakh Marathon returns for 12th edition in September
Agency: New Delhi, Aug 18 (PTI) The Ladakh Marathon, featuring over 6,000 runners from 30 countries and six races ranging from a 5km community run to two Ultra-marathons, will return for its 12th edition from September 11 to 14. The organisers of the event stated that the world's highest AIMS-certified (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) event's gruelling Ultra-marathons will cover the 72km Khardung La Challenge and 'the pinnacle of endurance racing", the 122km Silk Route Ultra. 'Spanning Leh and beyond, participants will race alongside the Indus River, through the high-altitude passes of Khardung La and Nubra, and across some of the most striking Himalayan scenery," a press release said. The full schedule includes the Full Marathon (42.195km), Half Marathon (21km), an 11.2km run, and the 'Run Ladakh for Fun' 5km. The Silk Route Ultra will set off on September 11, sending runners on a 122km course from Kyagar Village at 10,000 ft, over the Khardung La at 17,618 ft, and into Leh Market. 'Nearly 300 athletes will take on the Khardung La Challenge on September 12, a 72km route from Khardung Village at 13,000 ft, over the pass, and into Leh. Over 60km of the route are charted above 13,000 ft, making this the highest ultra-marathon in the world and a true test of human potential." All participants must undergo mandatory acclimatisation, arriving in Ladakh at least seven to ten days prior to their race day to adjust to the high altitude conditions. 'The Khardung La Challenge and the Silk Route Ultra push the limits of human endurance and conditioning, and this year's record registrations reflect a newer, fitter India, one that runs toward challenges, not away from them," said Chewang Motup Goba, Chairperson of High Altitude Sports Foundation, founder and organiser of the Ladakh Marathon.
