Neena Gupta reveals how the flag hoisting scene shaped Manju Devi's arc in Panchayat. Season 4 premieres June 24, bringing new conflicts and deeper character growth.
The idyllic chaos of Phulera is set to return as Panchayat gears up for its highly anticipated fourth season, streaming on Prime Video from June 24. With elections in full swing, tensions, ambitions, and emotions are running higher than ever—and at the centre of the storm are two women who have gradually emerged as the heart and spine of the village's political scene: Manju Devi, played by Neena Gupta, and Kranti Devi, portrayed by Sunita Rajwar.
The newly released trailer has already set the internet abuzz, racking up over 5.5 million views in just two days. From the unmistakable sight of the lauki to echoes of naare bazi in the dusty lanes of Phulera, the upcoming season hints at a potent mix of power struggles, emotional growth, and the quiet revolution of everyday people. At the core of this evolving story is the transformation of women like Manju Devi and Kranti Devi—characters who, with each season, have shifted from background figures to commanding presences.
Reflecting on her character's growth, Neena Gupta shared that the journey truly began back in Season 1, during the now-iconic flag hoisting scene. 'That was Manju Devi's turning point," she said. 'In most villages, women are often okay with not knowing or learning certain things, but what I loved about my character was that she decided to break that pattern. She slowly became more firm, more curious, and eventually more independent." Gupta emphasized that such change mirrors real life—never instant, but always possible. She added, 'It's a fact that the concept of Pradhanpati still exists in many parts of our country. Through this series, I'm so glad we could show that if women want to take charge and lead, they absolutely can."
Sunita Rajwar, who returns as the bold and outspoken Kranti Devi, echoed similar sentiments about portraying a woman who commands space with authenticity and strength. 'Playing Kranti Devi has always been a fascinating experience for me," Rajwar said. 'What drew me to her character was how she stands tall, not just beside her husband, but as an equal. She's not just a housewife from a village—she thinks and reacts like any empowered woman would, no matter where she comes from." For Rajwar, the character's mix of boldness and vulnerability resonates on a personal level. 'At the end of the day, we're all human—we all carry a bit of innocence within us. It's not just the audience who connects with the character; the actor does too. I feel genuinely happy and grateful to play her."
Panchayat Season 4 returns with its signature blend of humour, warmth, and unfiltered storytelling that has made it a breakout success. The series brings back its stellar ensemble cast—Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, Sanvikaa, Durgesh Kumar, Sunita Rajwar, and Pankaj Jha—and is produced by The Viral Fever. Created by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Chandan Kumar, and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Akshat Vijaywargiya, this season promises to explore deeper narratives while staying rooted in the earthy charm that defines Phulera.
With battle lines drawn and personal journeys at crossroads, Panchayat Season 4 is all set to deliver another chapter brimming with surprises, soul, and stories that speak to the everyday Indian.

The Traitors: Apoorva Mukhija and Uorfi Javed have falling out, Rebel Kid's ‘level' questioned by controversial influencer

Karan Johar's much-anticipated Prime Video reality series, The Traitors, premiered on June 12. In the very first episode, the contestants were seen forming alliances and clashing with each other. While the viewers were quite shocked to see Raj Kundra being eliminated in the very first episode, they were also surprised to see a budding friendship between Uorfi Javed and Apoorva Mukhija, aka The Rebel Kid. They were seen swearing upon 'Behen Code' as they shook hands. However, their friendship was extremely short-lived with the two getting into disagreements and commenting on each other's appearance and character. In episode three, they had a falling out. Apoorva explained, 'I was getting a very weird feeling, so I wanted to be by myself and cry. Uorfi kept on asking me, 'Kya hua, kya hua, kya hua?' I was irritated, and I just asked her to shut up for five minutes.' Apoorva's reaction, however, didn't go down well with Uorfi. A post shared by prime video IN (@primevideoin) The controversial fashion influencer said, 'She is not at the same level as me, she needs to respect me.' However, Apoorva retaliated by saying, 'Na uski height badi hai, na uska dimag (Both her height and brain are underdeveloped) I don't need that negativity.' Uorfi then shared her side of the story in a piece to camera, and said, 'I don't wish to be your friend or I don't wish to speak to you.' However, Apoorva dismissed Uorfi's feelings and said, 'Not everything is about you.' This statement left Uorfi disappointed. The remaining contestants are Ashish Vidyarthi, Jannat Zubair, Maheep Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, and casting director Mukesh Chhabra, among others.

Uorfi Javed calls Apoorva Mukhija ‘mannerless' after tiff on The Traitors: ‘Nahi banna cool gang ka part'

Drama is already brewing on the new reality show, The Traitors. Just a few episodes in, and Uorfi Javed and Apoorva Mukhija's initial camaraderie has turned into an all-out rivalry. It all started when Apoorva asked Uorfi for space during an emotional moment, but Uorfi took it personally. A clip of the tense exchange has now surfaced on social media. In the clip, Apoorva is seen getting emotional while missing her mother. Following this, Uorfi reaches out to her to ask her about what was wrong. Apoorva snapped and told her to give her space. This didn't sit well with Uorfi, who later vented to Jannat Zubair and others, saying, 'I do not like people speaking to me like this. She is not at my level." The clip was shared by Apoorva, writing, "Gotta give it to Urfi hum same level pe toh nahi hai (We are not on the same level)'. Uorfi clapped back on her Instagram story by calling Apoorva 'mannerless'. She responded, 'Not at the same level cause mai is ladki ki tarah battameez nahin hu… Agar battameezi cool hai toh mujhe nahi banna cool gang ka part (Because I am mannerless like her. If one has to be mannerless to be part of the cool gang, then I don't want to be part of the gang only)'. In the show, Uorfi was heard talking about Apoorva, saying, 'She was upset after the mission. So I asked her what happened. She got irritated. So I told her, if you're the kind of person who's going to snap, then I don't want to be your friend. And I don't wish to speak to you. And she says, not everything is about you. I am at a certain level, and I do not like people speaking to me like this. This…she's not at my level. She needs to respect me. She's my junior'. The Indian adaptation of the hit Dutch reality show features Karan Johar as the host. Twenty contestants, including names like Uorfi Javed, Apoorva Mukhija, Anshula Kapoor, and Raftaar, are split into Traitors and the Faithful. The reality show is a murder mystery with a dash of intrigue thrown in. It was released on Prime Video on June 12. Raj Kundra became the first contestant to be eliminated from the show after Apoorva Mukhija exposed him as a traitor.
