Sayyid Theyazin flags off 2nd Military Discipline Programme for school students

Muscat: HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, launched the second edition of the Military Discipline Programme for school students, set to take place in Dhofar Governorate from 13 July to 6 August.
The programme, overseen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth with support from various military, security, and relevant government institutions, aims to achieve its intended objectives and national goals.
In a statement, HH Sayyid Theyazin emphasized that the programme aligns with national efforts to hone youth skills and channel their energies toward nation-building. This year, he said, it targets 850 students from across the Sultanate of Oman through an integrated training programme in Dhofar, focusing on reinforcing values of citizenship, identity, and self-discipline via cultural, training, and sports activities. These initiatives, affirmed HH Sayyid Theyazin, reflect the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 in empowering Omani youth as a national priority and enhancing their active role in development.
He concluded, "The successes of the first edition—evident in the heightened awareness, discipline, and responsibility among students—serve as strong motivation to further develop this second edition into a model training programme. It aims to prepare a generation capable of facing future challenges and contributing to the progress of our beloved nation."
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that invest in youth potential and instill a spirit of dedication and belonging, supporting Oman's ongoing development and prosperity under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

Muscat – The penultimate leg of the Oman Downwinder, part of the Oman Kite Festival 2025 set off from the Pink Lagoon headed for Al Ashkharah, demonstrating the untapped natural beauty in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. Organized by OMRAN Group in partnership with Oman Sail, Visit Oman, and Oman Adventure Centre, the Oman Kite Festival reflects the commitment of all stakeholders to develop sports tourism and capitalize on Oman's unique coastline as a world-class tourism experience. Ayman Abdullah Al Ghafri won the leg, ahead of Al Mukhtar Abdul Karim Al Mujainiin second and Ahmed Mohammed from Egypt in third. These results puts Al Mukhtar Abdul Karim Al Mujainion top, with Ayman Abdullah Al Ghafrisecond and Ahmed Mohammed in third. With just one more leg remaining, from Ras Al Jinz to Ras Al Hadd on 24 July, the Oman Kite Festival 2025 has successfully showcased the potential of the Omani coastline to attract domestic and international tourists as well as reinforced the Sultanate's position on the international map of adventure and marine sports events. A slalom competition will also take place on 24 July at Ras Al Hadd, showing the complexity of kite surfing and the visual appeal from a spectator perspective with 90 top-ranked international Kite Festival athletes all taking part. This will be followed by the closing ceremony at Sur Waterfront where the prizes will be presented. In attendance will be the Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, H.E Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Ma'awali, Dr. Hashil Obaid Al Mahrouqi, CEO of OMRAN Group, Dr. Khamis Salim Al Jabri, CEO of Oman Sail, Senior management from both organizations, and representatives from event sponsors and partners. Abdullah Al Farsi, Operation Manager, said, 'The Oman Kite Festival is a key part of OMRAN Group's ongoing efforts to promote adventure tourism and harness Oman's natural assets — especially in coastal destinations like Bar Al Hakman, Ras Al Hadd, Masirah, and Al Ashkharah. Bangalore – In a thrilling display of determination and talent, Bosher Sports Center (BSC) Oman emerged victorious in the inaugural three-match T20 series against host Axi Cricket Academy, one of Bangalore's top cricket institutions. The Oman-based team overcame an early series deficit to claim a 2–1 win in a tightly contested tour that included four additional practice matches. All three T20 matches were streamed live on Axi's official YouTube channel, drawing attention from cricket fans across the region. Trailing 0–1 after the first match, BSC bounced back impressively to win the final game by 48 runs, sealing the series. Batting first, BSC posted a strong total of 165 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs. Standout performances included Kiran Suresh, who scored a composed 59 off 48 balls, Neerad Nikhil with a steady 50 off 42, and Jeevan, who smashed a quick 27 from just 15 balls. Despite a spirited bowling effort from Axi's Hari Krishna (2/28), the hosts could only muster 119 for 6 in their 20 overs. Vidhan Loyalka top-scored for Axi with 31 off 23 balls, while BSC's skipper Aflah and Rohit picked up two wickets each, with Kiran also chipping in with one. Kiran Suresh was awarded Man of the Match for the final and also named Man of the Series for his consistent performance. Aflah Aftab was declared Best Bowler, and Neerad Nikhil received the Best Batter award. BSC Coach Neil Paily expressed pride and gratitude after the win, saying, 'The boys showed great character in bouncing back after losing the first game. This was not just a victory but a valuable learning experience.'
