Monem Zafar said Pakistan is not merely a piece of land but an embodiment of an ideology, adding that while the country was attained, its founding vision still awaits complete realization. He recalled how Muslims from diverse regions, including UP, CP, and Peshawar, joined hands to establish Pakistan, showing that unity and determination can achieve great milestones.
He cited Operation 'Bunyan-al-Marsoos' as an example of resilience, noting that it renewed hope by demonstrating how steadfast courage can turn adversity into success. He called for the same spirit of collective resolve and sincere leadership to guide the nation toward progress.
Speaking about Karachi, he pointed out that despite being among the ten largest cities in the world it continues to face challenges in basic infrastructure and civic services. He reiterated JI's commitment to working for the betterment of the metropolis. The occasion also paid tribute to the Pakistan Resolution and remembered the Palestine Resolution adopted at the historic 1940 conference.

Pak-US cooperation in fight against terrorism to yield positive results: security czar
In a meeting with US Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism Gregory LoGerfo, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday said positive outcomes will emerge from Pakistan-US cooperation in fight against terrorism, while the counterterrorism dialogue will help in formulating a joint strategy. The development came as the US official called on the interior minister in Islamabad. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker, and the federal interior secretary were also present on the occasion. He also welcomed the US designation of banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Majeed Brigade as global terrorist organisations. US to explore cooperation with Pakistan on critical minerals, hydrocarbons Expressing sorrow over the loss of lives in recent terrorist attacks, LoGerfo described Pakistan as a strategically vital country. The US coordinator for counterterrorism on August 12 called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. He briefed FM Dar on the discussions held during the Pakistan-US Counterterrorism Dialogue. The foreign minister encouraged sustained and structured bilateral engagement on counter-terrorism between both countries, as a vital contributor to peace and stability in the region and beyond.

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the country on Friday to move towards more self-reliance, manufacture everything from fertilisers to jet engines and EV batteries, and vowed to protect farmers in the face of a trade conflict with Washington. ISLAMABAD: On Pakistan's 78th Independence Day, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced a digital transformation roadmap under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's Digital Nation Pakistan vision, pledging to turn the country into a self-reliant, technology-driven economy. The minister, addressing a high-profile ceremony of leaders from government, industry, startups, and academia, paid tribute to Marka-e-Haq — Pakistan's victory over India in May — calling it a historic moment that demonstrated national courage, professionalism, and technological capability. She lauded the Armed Forces, particularly COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for their leadership, dedication, and sacrifices in steering both the nation's defence and its technological advancement. Highlighting Pakistan's global recognition, Khawaja noted that the country achieved Tier-1 'Role Modelling' status in the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index and climbed 14 ranks in the UN E-Government Development Index to enter the High EGDI category for the first time. She celebrated progress in digital inclusion, revealing that as per the 2025 GSMA Gender Gap Report, the mobile internet gender gap had reduced from 38 per cent to 25 per cent, with eight million women coming online in FY 2024-25. Women's mobile internet usage nearly doubled from 10 per cent to 19 per cent, meeting the personal target she set upon assuming office. Khawaja outlined the future roadmap under Digital Nation Pakistan, focusing on youth empowerment, improved governance, industry facilitation, and building a robust Digital Public Infrastructure. Key initiatives include: National AI Policy 2025 to promote ethical AI innovation and economic growth; National Fiberisation Initiative to expand high-speed internet access nationwide; IMT Spectrum Auction to ensure 5G readiness, attract foreign investment, and boost telecom growth; Satellite Internet Services for universal connectivity; Uninterrupted Internet Policy for IT Companies to ensure reliable, high-quality connections for IT exports; DigiSkills 3.0 to train over 3.3 million IT professionals in three years, including 300,000 via Huawei and 200,000 via Google. She linked the spirit of independence to digital sovereignty, stating that true freedom in the modern era means self-reliance in technology, innovation, and governance.
