Keely Hodgkinson makes stunning return to action ahead of World Athletics Championships
The 23-year-old Olympic champion was back in action following a 376-day absence and showed she has put her hamstring issues behind her by setting a new 800m meeting record of one minute and 54.74 seconds.
Hodgkinson sustained a hamstring injury in February before the Keely Klassic and her return was delayed by a number of setbacks.
But the Great Britain athlete made a statement ahead of next month's World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
Hodgkinson finished clear of Lilian Odira from Kenya and Botswana's Oratile Nowe in Silesia with the second fastest time of her career, just 0.13 seconds off her personal best.
Hodgkinson told the BBC: 'That was so much fun. It's amazing, I really wanted to have this opportunity.
'I don't have much time to get ready for the Worlds, so I have to put something down.'
Elsewhere, Kishane Thompson laid down a marker when the Jamaican came out on top in the highly-anticipated 100 metres against Olympic champion Noah Lyles.
Thompson blasted out of the blocks and never looked like being beaten, while Lyles, with his typically slow start, ran strongly at the end but the Jamaican won in 9.87 seconds, with Lyles clocking 9.90, his season's best. Kenny Bednarek was third.
Kenya's Faith Kipyegon produced an outstanding run in searing heat to fall just under a second shy of the women's 3,000m world record of 8:06.11, set in 1993 by China's Wang Junxia

Brentford brought on Jordan Henderson in the 68th minute as they tried to stem the tide and 10 minutes later they had reduced their deficit. There was no grandstand finish, though, as Forest got their season off to a winning start.

Manchester United have opened talks with a Serie A club over a deal for Tyrell Malacia. The Red Devils have been looking to offload Malacia all summer, with the Dutch international one of the unwanted players placed into a 'bomb squad'. Roma are now exploring the possibility of a deal and have held early talks with United about the conditions of a transfer. Malacia is understood to be open to the move as he looks to reignite his career in Italy. Malacia, joined United in 2022 as Erik ten Hag 's first signing following the manager's arrival at Old Trafford. The full-back moved from Feyenoord but has struggled to establish himself in the Premier League. After making 39 appearances in his debut season, Malacia missed the entire 2023-24 campaign due to injury. He returned to action last season and featured in eight matches before being loaned to PSV in the January window. Meanwhile, United winger Jadon Sancho is also the subject of interest from Roma. As first reported in Daily Mail's Transfer Confidential column on Tuesday, the Italians are the latest to discuss a potential loan and option to buy for the England international but United only want a permanent sale for the 25-year-old. Given Sancho's wages of £250,000-a-week, United would prefer a sale for a fee of between £20million and £25million.

Marc Márquez reigns supreme in Austria with sprint-race MotoGP double
Six-times MotoGP champion Marc Márquez marked the 1,000th premier class race in history by winning the Austrian Grand Prix for the first time in his career to take a mammoth 142-point lead over his brother Alex in the championship. Having won Saturday's sprint from the second row, Marc Márque claimed the sprint-race double for the sixth Grand Prix in a row, with the Spaniard unbeaten since the British Grand Prix in May. Not since 2014 had Marc Márquez claimed six Grand Prix wins on the bounce as he inches closer to a seventh MotoGP crown with nine rounds left. Gresini Racing rookie Fermin Aldeguer found late race pace to finish second while Aprilia's pole sitter Marco Bezzecchi, who kept Marc Márquez at bay for as long as he could, finished third. Alex Márquez finished 10th after serving a long-lap penalty. 'Super, super happy to finally take the first victory here in Austria,' Marc Marquez said. 'I'm happy with six victories in a row, but (I need to) keep focus, next week we have another race.' Bezzecchi had claimed his first pole with Aprilia on Saturday and despite finishing fourth in the sprint, this time he had the perfect launch to lead Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez into turn one. The two Ducatis went side by side on lap one when Marquez briefly overtook his teammate but Bagnaia did not relent and took the place back to stay in second. However, Marc Márquez made the same move on the next lap to take second and set his sights on Bezzecchi, waiting for the right opportunity to pounce. 'In the first part he (Bezzecchi) was super strong but then I just waited, I tried in the beginning but it was too risky, then I preferred to wait and attack in the end,' Marc Marquez added. Alex Márquez had a poor start and with a long-lap penalty to serve for causing a crash at the Czech Grand Prix, falling out of the top 10 when he rejoined the field.
