Anupam Kher opens up about Tanvi the Great's financial debacle as he launches new book: ‘What I have achieved with this, no one could achieve in a thousand years'
The launch event was a star-studded gathering of friends, colleagues, and collaborators. Among those present were filmmaker and long-time mentor Mahesh Bhatt, actor Boman Irani, who also hosted the event, Gajraj Rao, Anang Desai, and director Pankuj Parashar, with whom Anupam worked in films like Chaalbaaz.
Speaking about Anupam's journey, Mahesh Bhatt offered an emotional reflection. 'One of the greatest strengths of this kid, I call him a kid because when I met him he was 28, although I was only 34, but still, is his vulnerability,' Bhatt said. 'I don't know any other attribute apart from vulnerability when it comes to him. And a person who cannot be vulnerable cannot be courageous. I'm proud that a journey we began all those years back has landed us in this moment. I can wholeheartedly claim, proudly, that I have contributed somewhere in his journey, and I think his flight has just begun.'
However, the film has struggled at the box office, clashing with Mohit Suri's musical Saiyaara. Addressing the film's performance, Boman asked Anupam how he felt about the underwhelming commercial response. To that, he responded with characteristic conviction: 'To everyone present here, if I had to ask you what your top three films of all time are, I'm sure nobody would even remember the box office business they did when they released. What I have achieved with this film, no other person could achieve in a hundred, thousand years.' Boman, in his trademark wit, joked that none of the actors, including himself, were paid for working on Tanvi The Great, as they were simply following Anupam's vision, who, in turn, was following his heart.
Also present was actress Shubhangi, who played the titular role of Tanvi in the film, and she read a chapter from the book for the audience. Her performance in the film was praised by Boman, who said, 'This is your Saaransh moment. What Bhatt Saab did for Anupam is what he has done for you.'

Dhadak 2 box office collection day 2: Siddhant Chaturvedi-Triptii Dimri film lags behind Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2
Dhadak 2 box office collection day 2: Shazia Iqbal's directorial debut starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri released in theatres on August 1 after facing multiple delays. After having a slow start at the box office, has Dhadak 2 managed to show growth on its second day of release? As per the latest update on Sacnilk, the film is yet to cross the ₹10 crore mark. Dhadak 2 box office collection day 2: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's love saga has stiff competition from Son of Sardaar 2. Dhadak 2 box office update The report states that Dhadak 2 has collected ₹3.75 crore on its second day of release. On Friday, the film made an opening day haul of ₹3.5 crore. The total collection of the film now stands at ₹7.25 crore. Dhadak 2 is facing stiff competition at the box office from another new release (and sequel)- Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2. The comedy saga made twice as more than Dhadak 2 on its second day with ₹7.5 crore, as per Sacnilk. Son of Sardaar 2's overall collection now stands at ₹14.5 crore. Meanwhile, Saiyaara, now in its third week, is still going strong. The film is set to cross the ₹300 crore mark by Sunday. Elsewhere, animated film Mahavtar Narasimha is also performing exceedingly well in its second week. About Dhadak 2 Dhadak 2 chronicles the turbulent love story of Nilesh (Siddhant), a Dalit law student who falls in love with his classmate Vidhi (Triptii), who hails from an upper-caste household. They have to fight casteism and classism in order to make their relationship survive. The film received positive reviews upon release, with many praising the hard-hitting direction and mature performances of the cast. It is an adaptation of Periyarum Perumal. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap lauded the film and said, 'The film captures the conversation that we avoid on a day-to-day basis. This is what mainstream cinema was meant to be, and this is what great filmmakers like Raj Kapoor, Bimal Roy, Guru Dutt, K A Abbas, B R Chopra, Yash Chopra, and so many used to do. We forgot to make mainstream films of social relevance. They got relegated to independent art house cinema. This is what Tamizh cinema and so much of cinema from south still does.'

Dhadak 2 Day 2 India Box Office: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's shows muted growth after decent first day; Adds Rs 3.75 crore on Saturday
Dhadak 2, directed by Shazia Iqbal and starring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Triptii Dimri and others, didn't get desired growth on its second day at the India box office. After a day 1 of Rs 3.50 crore with the aid of discount offers, the movie grew by just 5-10 percent on day 2 to add Rs 3.75 crore net on day 2. The below par growth on day 2 is obviously due to the discount offer not being continued for day 2, and strong competition from holdover releases. The Shazia Iqbal movie heads for a low-ish Rs 11.50 crore net opening weekend. The Day Wise India Net Collections Of Dhadak 2 Are As Under Dhadak 2 Was Helped Significantly By The Dhadak Brand Dhadak 2, from the promos itself, never felt like a film with big screen potential. One of the very few reasons why Dhadak 2 is able to put even this much on the board is because it is a sequel to the hit film Dhadak. If not for the Dhadak brand, the collections would have been lower. The clash was with Son Of Sardaar 2 but the movie's actual threat has been holdover releases Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha. Due to strong performance of the holdover releases, Dhadak 2 was forced to have a targetted 1000 screen release where the potential to grow was always going to be limited. Dhadak 2 Hopes For Decent Hold On Monday For A Reasonable Theatrical Trend Dhadak 2 now aims to hold decently on Monday to have a shot at a Rs 25 crore net lifetime. If the movie doesn't hold on Monday, a Rs 20 crore lifetime may also be difficult. Like most Dharma films though, the movie has recovered its budget from non-theatrical revenue sources and won't be a loss-making proposition for the producers. Dhadak 2 In Theatres Dhadak 2 plays in theatres now. Tickets for the movie can be booked from the box office or from online ticketing websites. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Son Of Sardaar 2 Day 2 India Box Office: Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's film adds JUST Rs 8 crore on 1st Saturday; Set to seal poor fate
Son of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and starring Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and others, had a dismal second day at the Indian box office, showing a minimal 5-10 percent growth from an already weak opening day of Rs 7.50 crore, aided by discount offers. Most films typically see over 50 percent growth on Saturday, and similar expectations were set for this comic caper. However, due to audience rejection of the content, the Ajay Devgn movie added only Rs 8 crore net on its second day. If Saturday's trends are any indication, the film is unlikely to perform strongly on Sunday. The Day Wise India Net Collections Of Son Of Sardaar 2 In India Are As Under Day India Net Collections 1 Rs 7.50 crore 2 Rs 8 crore Total Rs 15.50 crore net in 2 days Son Of Sardaar 2 Targets A Rs 24 Crore Net Weekend After A Dismal Rs 8 Crore Net 1st Saturday The Indian weekend collection for Son of Sardaar 2 is projected to reach Rs 24 crore net, an embarrassing figure for a hit franchise film retaining 50 percent of its original cast. Son of Sardaar, released 13 years ago and clashing with Jab Tak Hai Jaan, performed significantly better, even without accounting for inflation. While international collections are relatively stronger, they are still insufficient to offset the shortfall in India. Mahavatar Narsimha Emerges Most Preferred Movie For Hindi Audiences In Its 2nd Weekend; Saiyaara Catches Up Surprisingly, the animated film Mahavatar Narsimha (Hindi) outperformed Son of Sardaar 2 in on its second Saturday. Even Saiyaara, in its third Saturday, nearly matched the first Saturday collections of Son of Sardaar 2. It is expected that from Monday, Saiyaara will regain significant screen allocations and may surpass Son of Sardaar 2 in dayon-day collections. Release Rival Dhadak 2 Ends Up Not Being The Actual Threat For Son Of Sardaar 2 Dhadak 2, released on the same day as Son of Sardaar 2, is not the primary competitor. Both films are struggling against holdover competition, realistically making them the third and fourth choices for audiences this week; a disappointing outcome. It is unlikely that either film will capitalize on an open second week. Son Of Sardaar 2 In Theatres Son Of Sardaar 2 is currently playing in theaters. Tickets can be booked through online ticketing platforms or at the box office. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
