I discussed Rangers transfer with Coady - he's 100% keen

The Ibrox club have been linked with a deal to sign the centre-back from Leicester City.
Former Ibrox striker Defoe is desperate to see Russell Martin land the defender on a long-term deal.
And after appearing on TV coverage with Coady, to cover England's under-21 Euro Championship final win, Defoe has revealed his Rangers talks with the stopper.
'I spoke to Conor and we had a good conversation about Rangers," Defoe told the Daily Record.
'He knows how big the club is and I think he's the perfect fit for Rangers. I've obviously spoken to him and I just hope the deal gets done now. I told him how big Rangers are. I said: 'Trust me, Rangers are bigger than most Premier League clubs'.
'I told Conor that I wish I'd gone there five years before I did. Conor is keen on the move, 100 percent. Obviously, they have to sort out a few things with Leicester and I'm not sure what is going on with that.

'But honestly, his eyes lit up. He said to me: 'J, if I get the chance to play for a club like that, it would be unbelievable'.

Carlos Alcaraz turns Wimbledon water boy as reigning champ halts marathon match to help a fan in need

The Spaniard has been playing Fabio Fognini four over four hours in sweltering London temperatures on Centre Court. It was Carlos Alcaraz to the rescue as he stepped up to help a fan who was wilting in the Wimbledon heat. The Spaniard's first round clash with Italian Fabio Fognini had to be halted as the high temperatures in SW19 proved too much for one spectator. ‌ After a gruelling four hours and eight minutes of play, the defending champion spotted something in the crowd, which included famous faces such as David Beckham, Gareth Southgate and Eddie Redmayne. ‌ But it was a sweltering supporter that Alcaraz noticed, pointing Wimbledon officials to a fan in need of medical attention after appearing to struggle in the hot sun. And the reigning champion made his way over to the stands to offer his water bottle to help the Centre Court patron cool off, handing it to medical staff and checking to see if the fan was okay. The Spaniard, fresh from defending his French Open crown at Roland Garros and winning the traditional Wimbledon warm up tournament at Queens, is the 6/4 favourite to add another Wimbledon title to his collection. Arsenal could face battle with Spurs to sign £67.5m Eberechi Eze

Arsenal have held initial talks with representatives of Eberechi Eze and could battle with Tottenham for the Crystal Palace forward. It is understood Mikel Arteta has identified Eze as a potential addition who could add creativity and depth to his squad after they finished as Premier League runners-up for a third successive season. Arsenal officials are believed to have met Eze's agents on Saturday to discuss personal terms and other details but have yet to open talks with Palace over the England international. Sign up to Football Daily Kick off your evenings with the Guardian's take on the world of football after newsletter promotion Eze, who was released by Arsenal at the age of 13, is believed to have a release clause of £67.5m in a contract that runs until 2027, and Palace have been adamant they will allow him to depart only if that is met. Tottenham have a longstanding interest in Eze and have discussed whether to make him a statement signing for their new manager, Thomas Frank, although it is understood that neither they nor Arsenal have submitted an offer. A readiness to do so could depend on whether Palace are willing to accept less than his clause, which at this stage seems unlikely. Yet with Marc Guéhi prepared to see out the final 12 months of his deal if the right move does not materialise, Palace are wary of losing Eze for a discounted fee if he does not depart this summer. In January they rejected a bid from Spurs worth up to £70m for Guéhi, who is also of interest to Liverpool and Newcastle. Liverpool have been reported to be willing to offer Ben Doak as part of the deal after Palace expressed interest in signing the Scotland forward in January. Eze, who scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final in May to secure Palace's first major trophy, celebrated his 27th birthday on Sunday and his age means other clubs have been reluctant to meet his release clause. He has been in impressive form for club and country since scoring his first England goal against Latvia in March and is believed to be willing to join either north London club if a deal can be agreed.

Pedro 'a phenomenal player' but 'surplus to requirements'?

We asked for your views on whether Chelsea's reported £60m agreement for Brighton forward Joao Pedro is good are some of your comments:Azzan: While we could use defensive enforcements, the ownership dishes out £60m on another striker. He is a phenomenal player but he is surplus to requirements and for the fee, is not worth Completely unnecessary. Especially after Jamie Gittens joins. Our recruitment is starting to resemble Arsenal, where we buy more and more of the positions we don't need and don't recognise our weaknesses. I am surprised he came as he won't play. Brighton have done us If they can offload the players not in their plans, keep the rest happy being consistently rotated and having enough playing time, keep the manager and stick to the plan, Chelsea may become a decent team in a couple of years time. But this is Chelsea, so disaster is Chelsea's project has become chaotic: too many signings and a backlog of unused players. We need to clearly define our goals, maximize the potential of the current squad, and then strategically fill any a Chelsea fan? Find and follow your team hereJames: Very pleased with this one. Thirty goals in 70 games is a good return and Pedro can take a penalty too. Very creative player who can only improve and is Premier League ready. Can see it being difficult to move players on. However, considering the long contracts and high wages, presumably the club will be looking for permanent exits rather than paying a portion of a salary for them to play Baffling. We have three forwards already, now a fourth? Even with potential player sales, why is another striker needed?Stevie: Pedro will certainly help elevate our strike force if the stories about him joining Chelsea are true. Clearly some players will need to be moved on or sent to gain experience on loan. All we need to recruit now is a top goalkeeper and someone to deputise for Marc Cucurella.
