Bodies of Rancho Tehama father, son still no recovered
It has been six months since a Rancho Tehama family lost their father and two sons in a Bodega Bay boating accident. According to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, two of the bodies have yet to be recovered.
Johnny Phommathep and his two sons, 17-year-old Johnny Jr. and Jake, 14, drowned when the boat they were crabbing on capsized in rough weather on Nov. 2, 2024.
Johnny Jr.'s body was recovered on Nov. 3. It has been reported Johnny Jr. helped save his 11-year-old cousin, Juladi, who was also onboard the 21-foot Bayliner. It appears Johnny Jr. helped Juladi, who was wearing a life-vest, grab onto an ice chest. The younger boy was then able to safely make it to shore – Johnny Jr. unfortunately succumbed to the rough seas.
Of the six who went out on the boat that tragic day, only Juladi survived. The other two adults on the boat were Johnny Sr.'s cousin, Prasong Khammoungkhoune, and his friend, Matthew Ong. The Bayliner belonged to Khammoungkhoune.
The irony of this story is two-fold and began seven years previous to the Nov. 2 Bodega Bay catastrophe.
Johnny Jr. and Jake were both victims who survived the November 2017 mass shooting in Rancho Tehama when a gunman opened fire on the truck driven by their mother, Tiffany Phommathep, as she was taking the boys to school.
Both boys, 10 and 6 at the time, and Tiffany were struck by bullets and shrapnel. All recovered. Tiffany, who was hit by five rounds, continues to have both physical and emotional scars from the bloody rampage that eventually took the lives of six people, including the gunman, and injured 14.
And now, Tiffany and her remaining sons are attempting to make it through the maze of grief, victims once again of untold tragedy.
Johnny Jr. was a senior at Corning Union High School and member of the varsity football team, and Jake a freshman. On the Friday following the tragedy, during the varsity football game the team recognized their lost teammate and honored Tiffany and Tristan, the boys' brother, with words of encouragement and caring, hugs and tears, flowers and shared memories.

Trump awards ‘Medal of Sacrifice' to Palm Beach County deputies killed in crash
Three Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office motorcycle deputies who died in a crash last year were honored by President Donald Trump on Monday with the 'first ever' Medal of Sacrifice, a newly created honor from the White House for first responders who die in the line of duty. Trump, his son Eric Trump, and U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, who represents northern Palm Beach, announced the new honor in the Oval Office with relatives of Deputy Ignacio 'Dan' Diaz, Cpl. Luis Paez and Deputy Ralph 'Butch' Waller in attendance. Diaz, Paez and Waller were waiting on the shoulder of Southern Boulevard about 9:30 a.m. Nov. 21 for help to arrive because one of their motorcycles broke down when the driver of an SUV swerved off the road while trying to pass a slower car and crashed into the three of them, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw previously told reporters. Waller and Paez died the same day. Diaz was hospitalized in critical condition and died on Nov. 25. The three motormen had each rode in Trump's presidential motorcades. Trump, Eric Trump and Mast attended the deputies' memorial services in December, prompting the idea for the Medal of Sacrifice, Eric Trump said. 'One simple question was asked. Why is there no medal, Medal of Valor, Medal of Sacrifice, that commemorates law enforcement officers, first responders, who have fallen in the line of duty? … We said we're going to take care of this problem,' he said. Paez's son, Cameron, briefly spoke to reporters after accepting the award. 'I viewed my dad as Superman, someone my whole life you look up to. An amazing guy. It's horrible that this happened to all three families. But I'm glad that something was done about it and we got represented and everyone in the future will be,' he said. The medals were designed by the Arnault family, whose luxury conglomerate LVMH acquired Tiffany & Co. The family agreed 'without hesitation,' Eric Trump said at the news conference. The word 'sacrifice' is inscribed on the medals, in addition to three oak leaves to represent 'strength, resilience, and honoring the families of the fallen,' the White House said in a news release. A fourth medal was made to be given to Bradshaw, in the event it is needed to honor another deputy in the future. 'I hope it never has to be given out, frankly,' Trump said. Mast introduced the Medal of Sacrifice Act earlier Monday. It creates a commission of 12 law enforcement officers, who are appointed by Trump, to determine eligibility for the medal and determine procedures for presenting the award. Trump told reporters they are 'looking at the possibility' of presenting other families whose loved ones died in the line of duty with the honor.

Missing Georgia camper 'miraculously found alive' after disappearing for weeks in California wilderness
A missing Georgia camper was "miraculously found alive" in California's Sierra Nevada after disappearing weeks ago, police say. Tiffany Slaton, a 27-year-old from Jefferson, was discovered Wednesday after the owner of the Vermilion Valley Resort near Lake Edison in Fresno County, California, was conducting a property check and "found one of his cabins was occupied by a woman," according to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office. "She pops out, didn't say a word, just ran up and all she wanted was a hug," Christopher Gutierrez said. "It was a pretty surreal moment and that's when I realized who this was." Investigators say Slaton was reported missing by her family on April 29 after she was not heard from for nine days. She was found "dehydrated, but was otherwise in good condition." Missing Canadian Hiker Found Alive After Spending Weeks In Blistering Cold "He was aware of an ongoing search for a missing woman, and she matched the description. Deputies traveled up to Kaiser Pass Road and met with the owner who had driven Tiffany out to the staging point. Deputies confirmed it to be Tiffany and medics arrived with an ambulance to examine her," the Sheriff's Office added. "It is important to note that the road from Kaiser Pass back to Lake Edison was impassable due to the snowpack." Read On The Fox News App Police say snowplows cleared the road to the Vermilion Valley Resort on Wednesday, and Gutierrez was preparing to open up the property for the public for the summer. "The owner said he had left a cabin unlocked as a precaution for this exact situation where someone who is lost could seek shelter and increase their chances of surviving the outdoor elements and harsh weather," the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said. Slaton's father, Bobby, said on Wednesday that "This has to be the third or fourth best day of our lives after our children's births so we are extremely excited and happy to hear the news that my daughter is now safe." "A ton of weight has been lifted, and we can't thank the sheriff's department of Fresno enough and the search and rescue team enough for – and most certainly, the community. The community has been outstanding in the search for Tiffany." Colorado Avalanche Victim Rescued In Dramatic Video Her mother, Fredrina, said they were out shopping for clothes in preparation for a trip to the area when they first learned she had been found safe. "I just grabbed somebody and said, 'can I hug you'? And I did, I was crying and hugging," according to Fredrina Slaton. "She called me on her way down from the mountain. As soon as they were able to get a cell signal, she actually reached out to me and that was truly when the tears started flowing," added her father. "She said 'Dad, I'm alive, and I'm sorry, but I'm alive, and I wanted to call you and let you know that I'm alive,' and I asked because I didn't want to get my hopes up. I asked 'who was this'? And she says 'This is Tiffany.' And that was it, I just thank God for that moment because prayers were answered," Bobby Slaton also said. Investigators previously carried out a "full-scale" search in the mountains for Slaton between May 6 and May 10, spanning nearly 600 square miles, "but the crew never found any trace of Tiffany or her belongings," it added. "Detectives are now arranging to meet with Tiffany to learn more about her timeline of events and overall experience," it also article source: Missing Georgia camper 'miraculously found alive' after disappearing for weeks in California wilderness
